Chapter 11 Chaos
Everyone was talking about it. Some said it was safer and more appropriate to stay in the Information Building, while others wanted to leave.
To be honest, I was also conflicted. Going out meant facing more unknown situations. And the Information Building was obviously not safe.
I glanced at An Xiaowei, and she seemed to notice my gaze and smiled at me.
People were in a panic. Those who wanted to leave began to frantically loot supplies, while those who wanted to stay tried their best to stop them, believing that the supplies should be left behind.
"If you want to leave, just leave! Why bring so many supplies with you?"
"The supplies belong to those of us who remain!"
"Stop talking nonsense! I have a share in this!"
"Asshole! How dare you steal my things!"
"You dare to hit someone? You're looking for death!"
The situation gradually got out of control, people frantically scrambled for everything they could get, and many people began to turn their attention upstairs.
"It's such a big building, there must be a lot of things upstairs!"
"Yes! Let's go! Let's go upstairs and take a look!"
The four of us looked gloomy at the same time. If they discovered the body upstairs, the situation would probably become even more chaotic.
Sure enough, screams of terror soon came from upstairs. Someone stumbled down, fell to the ground screaming, crawled two steps, and staggered to his feet, pointing tremblingly at the upstairs, his mouth trembling and unable to speak. At the same time, a strange wheezing sound came from the corner of the stairs.
"Ho-ho-ho"
"Heh—cluck—"
My heart suddenly went on alarm, and I heard more than one noise.
The next second, a group of staggering staff members in tattered protective suits emerged from the stairs. The infected staff members had ulcerated skin covered with black spots, their eyes were red, and there was still blood at the corners of their mouths flowing down their chins. It was obvious that someone had been attacked just now.
The scene was in chaos, and fear reached its peak in people's hearts. Some people even broke down and cried, "I want to go home!"
"I can't stay here anymore! Get out!"
People came and went in the hall like headless flies, some began to bang on the door frantically, and the wailing sounds stimulated the infected staff like stimulants. They pounced on the crowd at a very fast speed, and people were constantly knocked down and bitten. Screams were heard one after another, and the closed information building turned into a hell on earth.
I stared at everything in front of me, moving towards a less crowded place while holding the dagger tightly to guard against sudden attacks from the infected.
Suddenly, an infected person pounced on me when I wasn't paying attention. I was caught off guard and knocked to the ground. The infected person's eyes were bloodshot and he was baring his teeth, trying to bite me!
At the critical moment, the instinct for survival overwhelmed the fear. I kicked the infected person away fiercely and thrust the dagger into its head before it pounced on me again!
Although there was a big hole on its head, it was still moving, twisting its body and crawling towards me quickly. When it was about to get close, I seized the opportunity and stabbed it several times on the head. The sticky black liquid splashed onto the gas mask, and the monster in front of me finally lost its life and fell to the ground.
I wiped my eyepiece roughly and turned around to see Mo Junfan being forced into a corner by two infected people.
I immediately pulled out the engineer shovel from my waist and planned to attack one from behind, but suddenly a figure flew over and kicked both infected people away.
Jiang Wang kicked the infected person away and smiled at me in a cool way. The next second, the infected person grabbed his ankle and dragged him to the ground.
. . . . . .
This is probably the kind of person that the saying "cool for only three seconds" refers to...
However, I didn't have time to think too much. Mo Junfan and I chased after it. Mo Junfan swung his knife horizontally at one of the infected people. The knife embedded in its head, but the thing was still able to move. Mo Junfan pulled out the knife and stabbed it into its back again. Black liquid flowed out of the wound.
Jiang Wang fell to the ground and used a machete that he had taken out from somewhere yesterday to block the mouth of another infected person. I took the opportunity to pick up a dagger and stabbed it several times from the back. The infected person was attracted by me and roared and turned his attack target to me. Jiang Wang seized the opportunity to quickly get up, picked up the shovel and pulled it hard, pulling the infected person away. The infected person fell to the ground. An Xiaowei also noticed the situation here and rushed to help.
The four of us worked together to kill several infected people.
Some of the others had been killed in the attack, while others, like us, chose to fight to the death. Their bodies were covered in black sticky liquid and they were gasping for breath.
After the chaos, the air was filled with a disgusting smell of blood. The infected people in the hall finally fell down, and only seven survivors were left.
And I don’t know if there are other hidden infected people upstairs.
The seven of us decided to go out together. Since the red filaments had entered the building and infected the staff, it meant that this place was no longer safe.
We quickly returned to the room to pack up our supplies and equipment, then returned to the hall and picked up heavy objects to bang on the door. The sound of banging on the door attracted other infected people upstairs, fortunately there were only three of them.
The seven of us were on high alert, ready to deal with any sudden attack.
Three infected people surrounded us at the same time, one of them rushed straight towards us, and a strong man next to me suddenly pushed me. I was startled and turned sideways. The infected person's nails brushed my face, but I narrowly avoided it. I turned around and glared at the man, but he ran to the door and smashed it with a hammer.
An Xiaowei grabbed another infected person who was approaching her and threw him to the ground over her shoulder. Jiang Wang seized the opportunity and stabbed him hard on the head with a dog-leg knife, then twisted it a few times. The infected person struggled for a few times and then stopped moving.
The other two people also ran away if they could. They reached an agreement to stay together one second and scattered like birds and beasts the next second.
One of the thinner men was attacked from the side by an infected person. Smelling the blood, another infected person immediately crawled up to him in a twisted manner and started to share the food with the poor man.
The other two took the opportunity to escape into a room next to the hall and closed the door.
There were only four of us left in the hall.
"What bastards! They're using us as bait!" Jiang Wang spat, tightened the engineer shovel in his hand, and winked at us.
We understood each other, picked up our weapons, and attacked while the monster was eating that person.
With previous experience, four against two was actually easy for me, and I had long overcome that feeling of nausea. In the end, the two infected monsters became motionless.
The glass door had cracked, so the four of us picked up a hammer on the ground and hit the edge a few times. With the sound of glass breaking, the entire door shattered.
At this time, the two people who had initially escaped to the room aside and closed the door poked their heads out.
"Let's act together. There's strength in numbers." One of the men said with a smile.
"Get away from me, you coward." Jiang Wang was very disdainful, his tone full of disgust.
The man didn't get angry, but continued to smile: "You four look like martial artists, very powerful. Bringing one or two of us with you shouldn't be a problem, we can help too."
Another tall and thin man nodded repeatedly: "Yes, we are all survivors. Only by banding together can we have a better chance."
An Xiaowei frowned and said, "Then you can't do the same as just now."
?
The three of us gave her questioning looks.
"No." Mo Junfan said with a cold face.
"I don't agree either." Jiang Wang shook his head and continued with a pout: "These two bastards will kill us sooner or later."
"Xiao Wei, now is not the time to be soft-hearted." I also don't agree. I really can't give a good face to someone who betrayed us once.
An Xiaowei spread her hands and said to the two people, "Look, it's not that I disagree, but my friends don't accept you two."
The two men looked at each other and smiled, "It's okay, it's okay. It all depends on luck. I wish you all good luck."
I really didn't want to waste any more time talking to these two people, so I turned around and walked out of the information building.
