Chapter 149 Cooperation

Chapter 149 Cooperation

After the ice crystals cracked, I took the opportunity to use my ability to manipulate objects to control these ice crystals to fly out at high speed in all directions and hit the rest of the "ice claws".

Unfortunately, the effect is minimal.

It had no effect other than slowing them down a bit.

And this kind of movement made them even more crazy, and they pounced forward fearlessly!

Although they appear to be intelligent, this ice is not like ordinary ice. Its temperature is extremely low, and even if you don't touch it, the coldness will penetrate into your skin.

In this situation, I didn't dare to use "Fear Projection" rashly. If it were a human, it would be fine. But for monsters like these that were mutated from the beginning, using "Fear Projection" might cause them to mutate again, and the situation would only become more troublesome.

Fortunately, I am not completely helpless. These mutants are not high-level abnormal units. At least bullets and thermal weapons are still somewhat effective.

I shuttled among these monsters, constantly attacking and dodging, switching weapons back and forth, and the dock instantly turned into a Shura field of blood and ice.

Until the ground is covered with fragments of ice crystals, and this is the moment I'm waiting for.

I raised my right hand and used object manipulation. The ice fragments scattered on the ground floated up with my movements, and each of these fragments reflected my shadow. Although it was blurry, it was enough.

As long as there is reflection, it is a mirror!

I only need to inject a little bit of power into the ice crystals, and these ice crystals can become my weapons!

These ice crystals, carrying my subtle power, flew towards other monsters with the help of object manipulation techniques and directly embedded themselves into their bodies.

Then, enchanting virtual ice flowers bloomed from the monster's body.

Perfect clearing.

The dock returned to a dead silence. The ground was littered with the broken shells of Ice Claws, frozen blue-black blood, and cold corpses.

I wasn't feeling much better, though. While I hadn't suffered any direct injuries, the cold was palpable. Every breath was filled with white mist, as if my lungs were filled with ice. Sweat had already frozen, clinging to my hair and skin.

The blue ice crystals on my arms were still slowly spreading, causing persistent tingling and numbness.

I sniffed and walked deeper into the cold storage.

The vast underground space was so empty it was frightening. The towering shelves were bare, covered only with thick, shimmering blue frost.

The ground was also covered with solid ice, and frozen beneath the ice were some twisted remains covered with white frost - it was unknown which faction they belonged to. There were also some corpses in work clothes, looking terrified.

The entire cold storage was filled with nothing but ice and corpses. Not even an empty can was visible, let alone hard goods.

Dead silence. Only my heavy breathing echoed in the empty ice cave, shrouded in white mist. The blue ice crystals on the wound on my arm seemed to spread faster due to the low temperature, and the stinging sensation intensified.

Got cheated.

But it was also expected.

From the beginning, I had doubts. The apocalypse had lasted for so long. If there really were so many supplies, they would have been divided up by other forces and organizations long ago, and it would not have been the Black Dragon Gang's turn.

Bai Zang doesn't care about supplies at all, and this "pledge of allegiance" is just a complete trap.

I sighed inaudibly and looked outside.

"Haven't you seen enough yet?"

“Snap, snap, snap…”

Crisp applause suddenly erupted from the silent cold storage entrance. In the light from the still-thick fog, a slender figure slowly entered. Between his fingers, the familiar lighter twirled with a crisp metallic clang. It was Bai Zang.

He still had that cynical smile on his face, but his eyes were as sharp as an eagle, penetrating the dim light and falling accurately on me.

However, his smile no longer had the lazy tentativeness from before, and instead was replaced by a kind of... all-knowing understanding and a hint of cold calculation.

"Brilliant, truly brilliant." Bai Zang's voice, with a strange magnetism, echoed in the empty ice cave. "Miss Ji, your performance was even more shocking than I imagined. Is this the strength of a regular army? I see you have support far beyond just that 'relevant department', right?"

He walked in slowly, his leather boots making a light "crunch, crunch" sound as they stepped on the ice.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. I wanted to continue relying on the Investigation Bureau, but the current situation didn't allow that.

"You've seen the show you wanted to watch, and I've let you explore everything you needed to explore. Tell me, what exactly do you want to do?" I raised my hands and made a cool pose.

It's not that I'm trying to look cool, it's mainly because it's really cold right now, and I don't want to lose face in such a serious confrontation, so I have to pretend.

Bai Zang seemed to be in a good mood. He chuckled and said, "You are quite smart. It seems that you guessed it from the beginning."

I didn't comment and just waited for his next words.

Bai Zang shook his head, the smile on his face faded a little, and his eyes became deep, "I just need to confirm something."

He looked meaningfully at the closed eyes on my arm, then glanced at the ice crystal fragments on the ground.

"You must have evolved quite a few times. As far as I know, the more times you evolve, the greater the chance of mutation. But why... aren't you completely contaminated?"

He spoke slowly, his voice deepening, with a profound understanding of the nature of danger that only a doomsday survivor could have.

"I'm pretty sure...you have something I want."

As he spoke, he stretched out a hand and raised the corners of his mouth.

"I hope we can have a pleasant cooperation."

"It's a pleasure to work with you." I also extended my hand.

The moment our palms touched, he froze for a moment. His cold, calloused fingertips briefly touched my palm, which was covered in strange blue frostbite from the battle with the "Crampons."

Bai Zang's eyes swept over the glaring, frost-like mark on the back of my hand, and his brows knitted together in a barely perceptible frown. He twitched his lips, as if about to say something, but in the end, he simply withdrew his hand, turned around, and strode out of the cold storage door, leaving only his back.

"Let's go back to the base." His voice was not loud and there was no warmth in it. It dissipated in the cold air along with the sound of footsteps.

The world outside the cold storage was still gloomy. The air was filled with the mixed smell of rust and decay, even more nauseating than the pure cold inside.

Bai Zang walked over to a modified heavy-duty off-road pickup truck parked in the shadow of the wreckage—typical Black Dragon Gang style, rugged and practical, covered in extra steel plates and aggressive ramming. He opened the driver's door with a deft movement.

"Get in the car."
