Chapter 191: Sabotage

Chapter 191: Sabotage

"Praise the moon!"

Occasional prayers could be heard from inside.

The crimson moonlight made the atmosphere even more eerie. Even though my mental strength was much stronger than before, I still couldn't help but feel depressed and dazed when I was exposed to the moonlight again. I just wasn't as passive as I was in the previous battle with Fan Buqiu.

I put on the special glasses given to me by the Secret Garden Society and looked up at the sky.

An unusually bright full moon, with a faint blood-red edge, hung in the sky, and the shadows illuminated by the moonlight seemed to be wriggling.

Behind the red moon, there is another extremely dark, almost invisible gray-white moon.

There are still two moons on the same day, but it is different from last time.

In order to prevent any unexpected events, I did not bring Xiaobai with me.

I found a hidden vantage point and took out the special sensor provided by Lin Hanning.

Soon, her voice rang directly into my ears through the encrypted channel: "Linked. Scanning the camp's energy flow... Confirmed that the ritual core is located in the largest central warehouse. Energy peaks continue to climb and are expected to reach critical point within the hour. Carlos is inside. The external intelligence officer provided a simple structural diagram of the warehouse interior, which has been transmitted to you."

A rough diagram emerged in my mind, marking the location of the main passage and the central altar.

"The patrols are very frequent, and... they don't look right." I observed that the patrolling guards had fanatical eyes and slightly stiff movements. It was obvious that they had been brainwashed and controlled.

"It's shallow mental control, covering the entire perimeter of the camp. A forced breakthrough will alert the enemy. We recommend sneaking in through the damaged ventilation duct on the east side. The energy field there is the weakest, and the surveillance has been temporarily blocked by our helpers." Lin Hanning commanded calmly.

Following the plan, I used my illusory authority to slightly distort the light around me, blending into the shadows. I quietly crept to the east and entered the narrow, cold ventilation duct.

The inner walls of the pipe were covered in disgusting, smelly grime, and the chanting and a heart-pounding surge of power grew increasingly clear. After crawling for about ten minutes, a gridded exit appeared ahead, revealing the interior of the warehouse.

The center of the warehouse was cleared and an altar made of scrap metal, bones and various symbols was built.

Tied to the altar were several struggling survivors, their eyes filled with despair, evidently intended for sacrifice. Knelt around them were fanatical believers, clad in simple robes, who prostrated themselves before a crescent moon symbol crafted from an unknown black metal above the altar, chanting, "Praise the moon! Embrace the eternal night!"

A man wearing a gorgeous black robe and a crescent crown on his head stood in front of the altar with his hands raised high.

This is none other than the "Moon Priest" Carlos.

His eyes had turned completely black, his hair was flaxen, and he did look like a foreigner, but at this moment he looked like an insect from a horror comic book.

A strong shadow power emanated from his body, guiding the believers' thoughts to resonate with the scarlet moon in the sky.

The crescent-shaped symbol on the altar emitted a faint black light, absorbing the telekinesis and vitality of the sacrifice. In real vision, an unstable small spatial door was slowly condensing above the altar, and behind it seemed to be connected to a dimension filled with cold gazes.

"The ceremony has entered a critical stage and must be interrupted as soon as possible."

Lin Hanning's voice was filled with urgency. "Carlos's power is bound to the ritual field. Attacking him directly will backfire on the entire energy field. We need to destroy the altar's energy nodes first. Do you see the black crystals inlaid in the four corners of the altar? Those are obsidian, the anchor points of the ritual. Obsidian is easily broken, but we need to destroy them all at once to severely injure Carlos and interrupt the ritual."

"Four corners at the same time?" I frowned slightly. Even though I was very fast, the ceremony venue was not small, so it was still difficult to do it at the same time.

"I'll create an 'accident,'" Lin Hanning replied. "The lighting circuit in the northeast corner will overload and explode, attracting attention. That's your only chance."

"No, then why don't you just blow them up?" I asked.

Lin Hanning gave a rare awkward laugh and said, "Hey, time is running out. I don't have time to get more gunpowder from other places."

My mother tongue is speechless...

But I quickly finalized the plan and used space distortion to distort the space in the four corners at the same time. This was not difficult for me and did not consume much energy. I still had enough energy to quickly take down Carlos.

"Three, two, one... now!"

Bang! A searchlight in the northeast corner suddenly exploded, sending sparks flying! The sudden change caused the chanting to pause, and the attention of all the believers and Carlos was involuntarily drawn to it!

At the same time, I also activated my ability to distort the space where the four obsidians were located.

Four crisp explosions sounded almost simultaneously!

"No!" Carlos roared in shock and anger. The altar's energy flow suddenly stopped, and the previously stable black light instantly became violent and chaotic! The backlash of energy hit him like a sledgehammer, causing him to spit out a mouthful of black blood, and his breath rapidly weakened.

The spatial portal above the altar trembled violently, then dissipated unwillingly. The person being bound as a sacrifice fainted from fear.

"Something that desecrates the moon has sneaked in! Kill her!" Carlos covered his chest, pointed in my direction, and his voice was hoarse.

The fanatical believers reacted and rushed towards me, howling. But most of them were just ordinary people who had been bewitched and had limited fighting power.

My target was Carlos. He tried to escape by blending into the shadows, but I had already locked onto his true location with my illusory authority. The Miao Dao pierced through with a sharp, air-ripping whistle!

Carlos, severely injured, barely avoided a vital blow, but the blade pierced his shoulder. He screamed, unleashing a dense shadow that tried to entangle me, but I forcibly twisted it into an illusory shadow.

Seeing that the attack was useless, a trace of fear flashed in his eyes, and then he bit his tongue, intending to use his own blood to stimulate strength.

But I couldn't give him such an opportunity at that time. I turned the blade and hit him hard on the head with the back of the knife. Carlos rolled his eyes and fell to the ground with a big bump on his head.

"Done." I whispered.

"Alright, alright! I just made some noise to attract the people from the Bureau of Investigation. Now we have nothing to do. Bring Carlos back and call it a day."

I glanced at the panicked crowd in the warehouse. Most of them were just ordinary people who had been bewildered. The Bureau's involvement was probably the best outcome for them.

Being detained and investigated is at least better than becoming a sacrifice to an evil god or going completely crazy.

Without stopping, I turned and merged into the shadows. After a few takeoffs and landings, I disappeared from the camp. Behind me, I could faintly hear the sharp sound of the Investigation Bureau vehicle.
