Chapter 193 Infiltration

Chapter 193 Infiltration

Night Crow is right, I do have some compassion. I don't have the ability to cure those deformed children, but at least I can find a way to prevent them.

And wanting to prevent the continued growth of deformed children is only part of the selfish motive.

The relationship between those old gods is not very good. Gali is about to wake up, and what I am most worried about is "Dark Moon" and "Sleepless Fetal Mother". After all, I destroyed the former's divine descent ceremony twice, and then I hunted the latter's delicious son on a large scale as food for the Black Dragon Gang.

The office returned to silence, with only the black feather proving that what had just happened was not an illusion.

I picked up the feather, feeling a chill against my fingertips. My mind delved into it, and a complex map of underground pathways and a wave of energy surged into my mind.

"Plague Doctor...Ice Claw...Cold Bay Pier..." I muttered to myself, my eyes gradually turning cold.

Most likely some new god wants to seize Gali's authority and legacy before I do.

In the past, I might have given in without thinking, but now, I am in a dilemma and have to fight.

I clenched the feather and looked out the window at the increasingly ominous night sky.

It's time to switch roles between hunter and prey.

At midnight, the East Third District abandoned the sewage treatment plant.

The air was filled with a strange smell mixed with rust, sewage and stale blood. The occasional roar of mutant creatures in the distance added a bit of eeriness.

I arrived as promised, emerging from a reflective tile on the floor and silently leaping onto the rusted iron platform. With the black feather clamped between my fingertips, a faint wave of power emanated at a specific frequency.

The shadows beside him squirmed like living things, and Night Raven's figure emerged quietly, still wrapped in a dark gray windbreaker and hood, as if he was part of the darkness.

"Very punctual." His voice was emotionless.

"Punctuality is a virtue," I said calmly, my eyes sweeping over the bottomless entrance below, which seemed to lead to the throat of hell. "What's going on inside?"

"It's more complicated than we expected," Night Crow said succinctly. "The 'Plague Doctor' is more cautious than we thought. He used the old drainage system to transform the passageway, and it's full of traps. Not only are there physical devices to prevent ordinary Evolved from accidentally entering, but there are also mental pollution nodes and biological patrols called 'Ice Claws.'"

"If we just force our way in, we'll immediately become targets," Night Crow added.

"What's your plan?"

"Make a feint to the east and attack in the west." Night Crow raised his hand, and the shadow condensed into a simple diagram of energy flow in his palm.

"I'll create an 'energy overload' accident on the west side to attract most of the attention and defense forces. You sneak in from the maintenance passage on the east side. The defense there is relatively weak, but the path is closer to the core laboratory. We need speed to find and destroy his main culture device before the chaos I created is quelled."

"It sounds like you're going to give me the toughest bone to chew?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Front-line assaults aren't my forte. Speed, mobility, and a certain level of destructive power are your domain, aren't they?" Night Crow's tone carried a subtle hint of probing. "Or perhaps you lack confidence in your own authority?"

Provoking me? I laughed inwardly and responded mercilessly, "I thought you had done enough research on me."

Then I got back to the point: "Okay. What's the action signal?"

"Chaos begins when it occurs. After success, we will reunite at the laboratory core." After Night Raven finished speaking, his figure merged into the shadows again and disappeared without a trace.

I took a deep breath, suppressed the negative whispers of faith that were surging in my heart, adjusted the Miao Dao to the most convenient position, and with a flash of my figure, I rushed towards the entrance of the east maintenance passage like a ghost.

The tunnel was dark and damp, with frost condensing on the walls, and the smell was even worse than outside. As Night Crow had said, it seemed quiet here, but my intuition kept sending out warnings.

The illusory authority quietly unfolded. I did not completely hide my body, but slightly distorted the surrounding light and spatial perception, allowing myself to move quickly along the wall of the pipe like an imperceptible "visual error".

Not long after walking, I heard rustling sounds of crawling and cold hissing sounds coming from the front.

I know this sound, crampons.

Two were on patrol, their eyes flashing with cold inorganic light.

I held my breath and didn't attack directly. The power of authority shifted slightly, creating an extremely faint spatial ripple at the edge of their perception range, resembling an intruder.

The two ice claws were immediately attracted, let out threatening growls, and quickly crawled in that direction.

The moment they turned around, I quickly passed behind them without attracting any attention.

As we go deeper, we find similar traps and Ice Claw patrols appearing one after another.

Sometimes it's a sac-like plant suspended from the ceiling that sprays paralyzing spores. Other times, it's a mechanism repurposed from abandoned pipes that sprays freezing air. There are even obscure runes carved into the ground that trigger a mental shock if stepped on.

Relying on my precise control over space and reality, I sometimes distort space to avoid spores, and sometimes make myself illusory so as not to trigger the mechanism, and quickly approach my destination.

Although I could also jump in directly using mirror reflection, in order to avoid being killed instantly as soon as I show my head, I still use the sneaking method with caution.

After all, although the people in the Secret Garden Society are not necessarily strong, they all hold different powers or have the ability to dominate the world.

In such an association, I am not special, nor am I the strongest.

The maps and information provided by Night Raven were crucial and saved me a lot of trouble.

Finally, the regular humming of machines and a stronger smell of blood and chemicals came from the front.

An entrance blocked by a heavy metal door appeared at the end of the passage. The door was covered with a thin layer of frost, and defensive mysterious patterns flickered on the edges.

This should be the core laboratory.

Almost at the same time, a dull explosion suddenly rang out from the west! This was followed by a piercing alarm and the sharp whine of ice claws, causing the energy flow throughout the entire passage to momentarily become disrupted.

Night Crow took action.

Without hesitation, I drew my Miao Dao and injected a little power into it, and the cloud and thunder patterns glowed faintly.

After further transforming Gali's power, I no longer need to sacrifice blood to the knife frequently. I can achieve similar results by simply injecting God's power.

I didn't chop it recklessly, but instead placed the tip of the knife precisely on several key nodes of the door lock's energy circuit.

The illusory power seeped in and briefly "tricked" the door's defense mechanism, making it mistakenly believe that it had received an order to open.

laugh--

There was a sound of airtightness, and the heavy metal door slid open a crack.

I slipped in and the door closed quickly behind me.
