Chapter 41: Strange Dreams

Chapter 41: Strange Dreams

As the sky gradually darkened, we retreated to the base and went back to our rooms to prepare for bed.

I took off my Miao Dao and leaned it against the wall, accidentally seeing the cloud and thunder pattern on the handle.

Still looks familiar...

I have a feeling I must have seen this thing somewhere.

However, Song Nanxing said that this knife was left to me by my parents, so it wouldn’t be too strange if it looked familiar.

After all, except when I was very young, my parents were always by my side. When I grew up, I rarely saw them, and my memories of them have become very vague.

I shook my head and stopped thinking about it. My brain was overloaded today, and if I kept thinking about it, I would probably suffer a nervous breakdown.

I turned off the lights and lay on the bed, gradually feeling sleepy.

I could vaguely hear a noisy sound beside my ears, as if many people were talking. The voice was so muffled that I couldn't hear it clearly. I tried to open my eyes, but I didn't feel any strength at all. Everything was dark in front of my eyes and I couldn't see anything.

It felt like... I was wrapped up in something.

"Come on! It's almost out!"

I vaguely heard the voice of a middle-aged woman.

"Hey! I see the end! Quick! Use some force!"

What? I'm feeling a bit bewildered by the current situation. Is this another hallucination?

If this is an illusion, I have to find a way to wake up.

I tried to move my body, but it felt so cramped I couldn't move.

The noise in my ears continued and I couldn't quite place the situation, but I could feel a force pushing me towards the top of my head.

I couldn't resist this force and could only move forward little by little along with it.

Finally, a ray of light appeared in front of me. Before I could see clearly, the noise in my ears suddenly became much clearer.

"Hey! It's out! It's out!"

At the same time, I heard a weak female voice saying, "Quick... let me see."

I felt as if someone picked me up and handed me to the woman.

My vision gradually became clear, and the first thing that caught my eye was a few people who looked like doctors and the invisible lights in the room.

What's going on?

I was a little nervous and wanted to look around, but I didn't have the strength to turn my head.

"Why isn't this child crying?"

A weak woman's voice rang in my ears.

I felt like I was being lifted upside down and someone was hitting the soles of my feet hard.

Strangely enough, I felt no pain at all.

This classic dialogue, coupled with this classic scene, even without experience, I vaguely guessed that this was in the delivery room of a hospital.

But why do I have the vision of a baby?

Shouldn't I be sleeping in the Bureau?

The defense system of the Investigation Bureau base is very strong, so it is unlikely that the strange fragrance outside came in. If it really was a strange fragrance, even Jiang Wang could wake me up, so it is even more impossible that the Investigation Bureau would be helpless.

Then there is only one possibility: I am indeed dreaming.

At this time, I heard the voice of the person next to me again.

"This child..." The doctor who was holding me hesitated to speak, as if he was considering how to continue.

At the same time, a man broke in from outside the door.

"Wife! How are you?"

The weak woman's voice sounded again: "I'm fine...child...let me see her again."

I was carried to the woman's side again, and this time, I saw her appearance clearly.

Although she looked younger than I remembered, I recognized her as my mother at first glance.

The man standing next to me is my father.

My mother's face was pale, her hair was wet with sweat and stuck to her forehead, and her lips trembled slightly as she looked at me.

"How could this happen... It's impossible."

She looked at me, shook her head and kept talking to herself.

My father looked at me, and suddenly a look of despair and sadness appeared in his eyes.

The doctor next to me sighed and said to my father, "The mother is emotionally unstable right now, and the baby's condition requires further observation. Please come with us to help settle the baby."

My father took me out of her arms and took me to another room.

I heard my mother's desperate cries from the delivery room behind me.

Until now, I am still confused. What I dreamed about should be the scene when I was born, but why did they look like that when they saw me?

And even if this is something I have experienced, how can a baby have memories?

My father held me and followed the doctor to another room full of incubators. He placed me in one of the incubators. I watched him sign a bunch of words on the booklet, then he looked at me deeply, opened the door and left.

"It's so pitiful. He was a vegetable when he was born."

"Yes, but this young couple is still young and they can have another one in the future."

"Ah... I just feel sorry for this child."

The two nurses in the ward were discussing in a low voice.

???

Vegetative? Me? What's going on?

I tried to move my body again, but there was still no response...

I could only stare at the ceiling in vain.

If this really happened when I was born and I was really a vegetative baby, then when did I recover?

I had no idea this existed when I was a kid.

I don’t know how long it took, but the door was opened again. A person who looked like a nurse came to the incubator where I was placed and looked at me with a cold expression.

The person was wearing a mask, so I couldn't see her face. Judging from her features, she didn't look familiar.

Then the man opened the incubator, took out a small doll and placed it next to me.

With the help of the light in the room, I glanced at the doll out of the corner of my eye. It was a bit worn out and its head was broken. Before I could take a closer look, he placed the doll next to my head, right in my blind spot, so I couldn't see it.

Then, the nurse pulled up her mask and quickly left the nursery.

The dream ended abruptly here.

When I woke up again, it was already morning.

I opened my eyes and almost immediately jumped out of bed, looking around the room.

It was still my dormitory, everything was normal, and the Miao Dao in the corner was still standing there.

I hesitated a little and pinched my thigh.

“Hiss, it hurts…”

I sat on the bed, held my head, let out a long breath, and said to myself:

"It was just a dream."

I glanced at the time and saw that there was still an hour before the training. Without even washing up, I took out a piece of waste paper from the bedside table and drew a doll on it with a gel pen.

My painting skills are not very good, but they are not very abstract either. Relying on my memory, I tried my best to depict the doll in my dream.

Soon, I drew a small puppet shape with a missing head and some cloth draped around its body on the paper.

I held the paper and looked at the thing I had drawn, searching frantically in my mind.

After a few minutes, I scratched my hair in frustration. Damn, I couldn't remember it, I couldn't remember it at all.
