Chapter 47 Chapter 47 Things that are not presentable
Zhou Boye looked at him, his eyes changing slightly. He lowered his head and pecked him on the lips, chuckling softly: "Okay, let's go home together."
Tuesday.
Zhou Boye woke up very early in the morning. Jiang Yuxia heard the sound and opened his eyes. His eyes were a little blurry as he had just woken up. The curtains were not opened, and it was pitch black with little light, so he could not see clearly.
I subconsciously wanted to rub my eyes with my hands, but before they could reach my eyes, they were held. Zhou Boye's voice was close, "It's still early, sleep a little longer."
"What time is it now?" His voice was a little sleepy, and his usually cold voice sounded a little childish.
"A little after five."
Jiang Yuxia blinked, and after his eyes adjusted, his vision gradually became clear. "So early?"
"Well, you sleep a little longer. I'll have Uncle Zheng call you when it's almost time."
"Okay." Jiang Yuxia shook his hand, then let go of the quilt.
Soon the sound of a door opening was heard and the room became quiet. Jiang Yuxia turned over and opened his eyes again after a while. He couldn't sleep because he was worried about something.
He stood up and opened the curtains. It was not yet fully light outside. He stretched and looked down. The old house covered a large area. The noise in the front hall did not affect their side. It was still very quiet and there was no one in sight.
After changing into black clothes, Jiang Yuxia also went to the front hall. Uncle Zheng greeted him and ordered someone to serve breakfast.
"Where's Aye?"
Uncle Zheng: "In the study, you can have your meal first."
"Yeah." Jiang Yuxia's appetite had been average these days. After a couple of bites, he said, "I'll go find him. Has he had breakfast? If not, I'll bring it to him."
Uncle Zheng looked at the food on the table that had only been touched a little, frowned, and seemed to be hesitant to speak.
Seeing that he didn't reply, Jiang Yuxia looked at him in confusion.
Uncle Zheng sighed and said, "You seem to have had a poor appetite these past few days. Is it because the food doesn't suit your taste? Or are you feeling unwell?"
"Maybe I haven't moved much in the past few days."
Uncle Zheng looked at him like an elder in the family, with some worry in his eyes, wishing he could eat everything on the table in one go to show his health.
āIām not completely full, actually.ā
Jiang Yuxia pursed her lips, glanced at the things on the table, picked up a steamed dumpling with her chopsticks, and began to eat it in small bites.
The dumplings were in chicken sauce and quite sweet. But the kitchen had previously made a crab roe dumpling that was even better. It was just that he'd eaten too much crab last time, and when he went to see a Chinese doctor, the doctor told him to avoid eating too much fish, shrimp, or crab while he was taking the medicine, so the kitchen rarely made them.
After eating three more, Jiang Yuxia was about to reach his limit.
Uncle Zheng stood one step away and watched him eat, just like a teacher supervising a student doing homework.
This was the scene Zhou Boye saw when he came down the stairs. The corners of his lips curled up and he stopped to watch with interest. Normally, if he wanted Jiang Yuxia to eat more, it would be like asking for his life, so he would cheat.
Perhaps having heard his movement, Jiang Yuxia turned to look at Zhou Boye, her eyes still silent and expressionless.
Zhou Boye felt that there was something wrong with him and always felt that he was a little pitiful.
He sighed and walked to the dining table, reaching out to touch his stomach. In the past, there was a thin layer of muscle on his stomach, which felt hard to the touch, but now that layer of muscle is gone. The whole abdomen is very flat, and it will bulge a little after eating.
Jiang Yuxia shuddered. Zhou Boye's hand was a little cold, and he could feel it through his clothes.
"Okay, stop eating if you're full. Be careful not to get hurt." Zhou Boye judged that he was full, so he took the steamed bun from his hand, not caring that he had already eaten it, and ate half of it in one bite.
However, Uncle Zheng's eyes were not so friendly when he looked at Zhou Boye. He didn't say anything, but went to get a cup of warm water and handed it to Jiang Yuxia, "Young Master, take a rest for a while, and remember to take your medicine."
Jiang Yuxia nodded and took the warm water, "Thank you."
Jiang Yuxia didn't breathe a sigh of relief until Uncle Zheng left, but his eyes were still full of excitement. He quite liked the feeling of being managed by his elders.
Zhou Boye ate Jiang Yuxia's leftover breakfast and asked, "Why don't you sleep a little longer? The doctor said you didn't get enough sleep, did you forget?"
Jiang Yuxia leaned back in his chair, feeling tired after a full meal and a full drink. "I can't sleep."
Zhou Boye snorted, "If I have to get up early in the future, I still can't sleep with you."
Jiang Yuxia is usually a very light sleeper and will wake up at the slightest noise. I originally thought that it would be fine if the noise was light, but now it seems that it is still not a good idea.
Jiang Yuxia thought, no way, he wanted to sleep with Zhou Boye.
But he didn't say it out loud, he just asked, "Do you need my help?"
"Yeah." Zhou Boye looked at his clear cat eyes and said, "Come with me to the study later and help me organize the materials."
A smile flashed in his eyes. Jiang Yuxia was like a honey fruit covered with frost. She looked cold and taciturn, but when he took a bite, it was so sweet that it made his teeth sticky and he couldn't let it go.
"Okay." Jiang Yuxia drank two sips of warm water and sat there waiting for Zhou Boye. He observed Zhou Boye. There was a rare sense of relaxation on his body, as if nothing was worth his anxiety.
"What's wrong?" Zhou Boye asked.
Jiang Yuxia shook her head and asked curiously, "Is there anything you find difficult?"
Zhou Boye paused, "Why do you ask that?"
Jiang Yuxia supported her head with her hands, looked at him sideways, and said softly, "I always feel that you can do anything."
"Hahaha." Zhou Boye chuckled, put down his chopsticks, and wiped his mouth with a napkin. "I think there are a lot of difficult things."
"Um?"
Jiang Yuxia looked up at him, waiting for his next answer. Zhou Boye tapped his head lightly, "For example, you."
Jiang Yuxia blinked and subconsciously touched the place where he was hit. "Me?"
Zhou Boye stood up, took his hand, and led him to the study. He smiled vaguely and said, "You have the hardest time."
"Um?"
Jiang Yuxia didn't know what Zhou Boye meant. He wasn't difficult to pursue. She was the one who had a crush on Zhou Boye first. How could he be difficult?
Zhou Boye glanced at Jiang Yuxia, who was looking puzzled, and laughed out loud. "Alright, alright, don't think about it. Your brain is already in bad shape after being injured."
Jiang Yuxia: "..." I always feel that this statement is ambiguous and does not sound like a good thing.
After arriving at the study, Zhou Boye quickly started to deal with the work that had not been completed.
The desk was split in two, with one part given to Jiang Yuxia. In front of Jiang Yuxia was a stack of lists, each with a detailed description. Zhou Boye asked him to sort the lists into categories, and he finished in less than five minutes.
He flipped through the pages one by one, and actually thought he was here to help, but it turned out that he was just here to kill time.
After finishing his work, Jiang Yuxia was bored and began to look around the study. He had rarely been to this study. A few years ago, this was the study of Zhou Boye's father. Zhou Boye's original study was smaller, but more sunny, with a view of the entire forest on the back mountain. It was used for Zhou Boye to do his homework.
After Zhou Boye took over the company after his father passed away, he moved his things into this study.
Behind the desk is a row of bookshelves, filled with a wide variety of books covering a wide range of fields. On the left shelf are some trophies and medals, with a few scattered photo frames.
Jiang Yuxia looked closely - it was a family portrait.
The picture of Zhou Boye in the photo shows him as a child, barely reaching his father's thigh height. The photo also includes his parents, his grandparents, and a young couple. The man bears a striking resemblance to Zhou Boye's father, and they're about the same age. He suspects they're brothers.
As Jiang Yuxia was mesmerized, Zhou Boye's voice suddenly rang out, "I took that photo in elementary school. It was Grandpa's birthday, and we all got together so we suggested taking a photo like this."
"We originally agreed to take a picture every year, but for various reasons we never got around to it, so this is the only one."
After he finished speaking, he suddenly fell silent, and Jiang Yuxia looked at him worriedly.
Zhou Boye's tie was black today, adding a touch of solemnity. Sensitively sensing the hint of sadness lingering between his brows, Jiang Yuxia subconsciously reached out and patted his head.
Zhou Boye paused, clasped his hands around his head, and chuckled, "Don't worry about me, all this is in the past. I'm just sighing at how quickly time flies. It feels like all this happened just yesterday."
The emotions that burst out at the beginning have almost faded now, and what remains is something that I will never be able to digest in this lifetime.
Jiang Yuxia slowly clenched her fingers, "You have me now, I'm with you."
But he felt that what he said was a bit hypocritical, and his face flushed immediately. Without waiting for Zhou Boye to respond, he awkwardly changed the subject, "Is that man your uncle? I don't think I've seen him before."
Zhou Boye ruffled his hair and continued his conversation, "Well, grandma only gave birth to two children, but it seems something happened between my uncle and my dad, so he only showed up at my dad's funeral and then went back."
"I heard that he moved out after getting married and rarely comes here, so you haven't seen him. He will come today and you will see him soon, but--"
He pondered for a moment and said, "Don't get too close to him. He's not easy to get along with."
Jiang Yuxia responded, feeling rather curious about this uncle. They stayed in the study for the entire morning until Uncle Zheng knocked on the door.
"Sir, a guest has arrived."
Zhou Boye went to receive guests. Zhou Boye asked Jiang Yuxia if he wanted to go, but he refused.
"Okay, then find a place to play by yourself. I'll have Uncle Zheng call you when the ceremony starts."
"Um."
Jiang Yuxia simply stayed in the study and picked up a book from the bookshelf to pass the time.
He looked down from the window and saw many cars on the mountain road. He paused, not expecting such a scene.
It was not until noon that Jiang Yuxia came out of the study. The originally quiet old house was now full of people, but because of the occasion, so many people were surprisingly quiet.
The ceremony began, and Jiang and Xia blended into the crowd. At the front stood Zhou Boye and the couple from the photo. After all these years, the couple had lost their youth. Next to them stood a girl and a boy, who seemed to be the couple's children.
The daughter was very dignified, wearing a black dress and with a serious expression. The boy was obviously not the type to stay still. Even in such a serious occasion, he still stood there awkwardly, looking around.
From the beginning to the end of the ceremony, Jiang Yuxia never saw him bow properly.
Careless and nonchalant.
This was Jiang Yuxia's first impression of him. The ceremony ended quickly and a speech was given afterwards. Zhou Boye stood out among a group of middle-aged and elderly people. The words "young talent" and "proud son of the emperor" appeared more and more frequently.
After finishing his speech, Zhou Boye glanced across the crowd until he saw Jiang Yuxia. Their eyes met, and Jiang Yuxia secretly greeted him. Zhou Boye's eyes curved slightly.
After everything was over, Zhou Boye's uncle did not stay for dinner, but walked straight out.
As he passed Jiang Yuxia, he suddenly stopped, glanced at him, and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Zhou Boye's little thing? Ha, something not presentable."
