Chapter 103 Overtime

After confirming that everything was arranged, he went to the bedroom and found that Gu Anran was still awake and both computers were still on. He walked over and sat down next to her.

"Why aren't you asleep yet, it's so late?"

“The company is currently undergoing talent reforms, and I have to keep an eye on things.” She glanced at him, then looked back at the screen.

After all, it's not just recruiters who are paying attention to the company; people in the same industry are also watching how things turn out. She hopes this decision is the right one, so that those whose talents have been overlooked can have better opportunities for development.

Ye Lichuan accompanied her while she worked. The alarm clock on the table spun round and round, and time passed little by little. In the dead of night, the wind outside the window would occasionally blow up and then fall.

"Go and rest first, it's getting late." Ignoring her objections, Ye Lichuan turned off the computer, carried her to the room, and Gu Anran, lying in his arms, glanced at the time; it was already one in the morning.

"Being busy is fine, but you need to take care of your health. If you continue to neglect your health like this, I'll interfere with your company's affairs."

Knowing he meant what he said, Gu Anran could only nod, but in her heart she was already planning to work overtime after get off work. The desk lamp was turned off, and the two of them fell asleep in each other's arms on the big bed.

When Ye Lichuan got up, no one was beside him. He got up to call his son to wash up and have breakfast, while Gu Anran was already at the company. She buried herself in her work, her hands moving non-stop, and finally drew an outline.

"After selection by the HR department, these are the final interviewees. The interview is scheduled for 2 p.m.." She put down her pen and took the documents.

There were five resumes in total. Each person's resume stated that they came from a prestigious university, with backgrounds in design, law, and foreign languages. They all had their own portfolios and their experience was clearly described.

"Okay, I'll have the HR manager and design manager conduct the interviews with you this afternoon." The secretary agreed and left.

She continued working on the design; she expected to finish Mrs. Li's jewelry today. Although she was a little tired, it was all worth it.

After quickly finishing breakfast, she went to the meeting room. The three of them held the same resumes. After a brief conversation, the first applicant came in.

She is a very capable girl, exuding confidence yet speaking with humility. Her work is also very impressive, but she always seems to be glancing at Gu Anran, intentionally or unintentionally.

"Tell me your thoughts on design," Gu Anran asked the final question.

She answered very well, not just copying the standard answer, but with her own insights. Gu Anran was very satisfied, but she always felt that something was not quite right. She was not sitting in the middle, but this girl was especially respectful to her.

The second person who came in gave the same impression; her work was excellent, and her answers to questions were flawless. She tapped her pen on the table. When the third person came in, she specifically asked the design department manager to be the examiner, and he would make the final decision. However, it was still the same.

"Do you know the applicants before you?" she asked after the last person finished introducing themselves.

The applicant paused for a moment, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes, but then calmly replied, "No, this is our first meeting. We just chatted outside for a bit."

Gu Anran nodded and then asked, "You were among the first batch of people to come for the interview. I remember you had someone who introduced you. Who was your introducer?" The two managers next to her looked at her in confusion but did not say anything.

The man was taken aback again before saying, "He is a Mr. Ye."

Although she had a guess in her mind, she still stiffened when she confirmed it, and after a while she said, "Okay, I understand."

The two managers next to her were confused, but they still told them to go back and wait for notification. They didn't dare to move either, so they just sat there doing nothing.

"What do you think?" she suddenly asked.

The two exchanged a glance, and the HR manager said, "Through the interviews just now, it's clear that all five of you are exceptionally talented. If possible, I'd like to hire you all."

“They are all indeed very talented... but let’s wait and see.” With that, she left the meeting room, leaving the two managers bewildered.

Back in her office, she suppressed her anger, feeling that Ye Lichuan was doing it for her own good and that she shouldn't lash out at him. But the anger still raged within her, making her increasingly irritable.

Looking at the design draft in front of her, she managed to calm herself down. Fortunately, after a while, she got into a focused state and finished the design draft before the end of the workday.

"Take the draft to the manufacturer before you leave work and ask them to finish it as soon as possible. Also, reject all those other applicants."

"Aren't those people all doing fine?" the secretary couldn't help but ask.

"It was just a deliberate arrangement." She stared at the documents in front of her, her mind filled with complicated emotions. Knowing she was preoccupied, the secretary left the office without saying anything more.

To avoid worrying Ye Lichuan, she deliberately postponed her work today, but now she doesn't want to go home. She called Xiaotian and told him that she would continue taking the exam and working after she got home later.

The sky outside the window gradually changed from orange to black, and finally it turned completely dark. The entire building went dark, except for the president's office, where the light was still on.

"Buzz." The phone suddenly rang. She glanced at it and stopped what she was doing. The phone kept vibrating, and she answered it at the last second.

"Why aren't you home yet? It's so late. I'm waiting for you downstairs at the company." She looked out the window with her phone, but couldn't see anything.

Ye Lichuan was still trying to comfort her when she suddenly asked, "You arranged for those people, didn't you?" Ye Lichuan remained silent.

"Can you please stop interfering with my career? I want to rely on my own abilities, not your help behind the scenes!" She finally said what she had been holding back for so long, but there was still silence on the other end of the phone.

She slammed down the phone and added the person to her blacklist. Ye Lichuan listened to the busy tone, looked up at the lit office, lit a cigarette, leaned against the car, and exhaled smoke.

Gu Anran didn't get off until the early hours of the morning. She was stunned when she saw the car, then resumed her indifferent expression. The two didn't exchange a single word on the way home.

He left early the next day as well. After learning that the two had quarreled, Gu Xiaotian sat down next to his father, who had a cold face, and laughed out loud. He only calmed down a little after seeing his father's eyes.

"Dad, you know Mom's personality. Now look what happened. You meant well but ended up doing something wrong. And the people you found were so unreliable. They just sold you off like that."

"I just wanted to keep her from worrying about these things," Ye Lichuan said, annoyed.

Gu Xiaotian patted his shoulder like a little adult, "Now that Mom is angry, she's ignoring me too."

As they talked, Gu Xiaotian felt a sense of sympathy for his father. His mother had been busy with work these past two days; she would go to work in the morning and not come back until he went to bed at night.
