Chapter 128 Returning to the Show

Gu Anran covered herself with the blanket, hugged her knees with both hands, and rested her chin on them.

"I'm really bad at everything. As a mother, I don't even know what my child is thinking. As a worker, I messed up such a big show. I'm so useless."

Today's argument, coupled with the loss of a life, has made her increasingly doubt herself. As a company manager, she is incompetent, and as a mother, she is equally so.

If she were professional enough, she should have carefully checked everything before the show started, and perhaps the accident would have been avoided.

Moreover, as a mother, she should understand her child's physical and mental health better, instead of blaming the child after something happens.

From any perspective, she is a complete failure.

Ye Lichuan didn't expect her to blame him like this. He gently hugged her and patted her back lightly with his large hands to soothe her emotions.

"No one in this world is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. But just remember, no matter what difficulties you encounter, I will face them with you. You are not alone behind me."

Ye Lichuan's voice seemed to have a calming effect. Although she had been feeling quite upset just now, Gu Anran's emotions stabilized considerably after hearing his words.

She rested her head on Ye Lichuan's shoulder. Although Ye Lichuan's words touched her deeply, she also knew that she had many shortcomings. However, since things had already happened, she should take the initiative to face them.

She leaned quietly against Ye Lichuan's chest.

"Thank you for your continued support." Gu Anran peeked out from his embrace, a slight smile finally appearing on her face.

The two looked into each other's eyes, and Gu Anran suddenly leaned over and kissed Ye Lichuan on the corner of his mouth, as compensation for her outburst at him earlier that day. Ye Lichuan stroked her head with a gentle expression.

It had been a long time since their usual bedtime, and Ye Lichuan held her close, intending to put her to sleep, but she shook her head.

Faced with his questioning gaze, Gu Anran chuckled and said to him, "I can't sleep, I want to go out for a walk." She looked at Ye Lichuan nervously, silently hoping that he would agree.

Ye Lichuan, who was holding her, glanced at the night outside the window and had already guessed most of what was going on. "You want to go to the fashion show?"

"Well, I really can't sleep. The incident at the fashion show hasn't been investigated yet, and I still want to go and see where things went wrong so I can learn from it and pay more attention to this kind of thing."

"No, it's already so late, let's not go. Besides, you've had a long day, so you should stay home and rest. If you can't sleep, I'll watch a movie with you for a while."

Ye Lichuan was worried that if she went to the fashion show and saw the destroyed things, she would be overwhelmed with grief and spend so much time in pain because of a single scene.

Gu Anran was stunned for a moment, but did not continue to argue. Instead, she nestled obediently in his arms and said in a soft voice, "Okay, whatever you say. Let's go to sleep now."

"Good girl." Ye Lichuan kissed Gu Anran's forehead, then pulled the covers over himself and fell into a deep sleep.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but when the person beside her still didn't wake up despite her deliberate touch, she opened her eyes. Just in case, she softly called Ye Lichuan's name again, and when she saw that he still didn't respond, she felt relieved.

After removing Ye Lichuan's arm from her body, Gu Anran tiptoed out of bed and walked out of the bedroom.

After changing clothes in the fitting room, I went to the entrance hall to get my car keys and quickly left home.

Gu Anran arrived at the underground parking garage, drove her car out, and headed straight for the show venue.

Perhaps seeing that scene would sadden her and overwhelm her with immense guilt, but it would also be a good opportunity to learn from the experience. People only grow through failure, even if the cost is too high.

She had thoroughly inspected the venue, which was a very large show venue, and the security system was excellent. So where did the problem lie?

The lights were off at the fashion show venue at night, and there was no one outside.

Gu Anran still had the venue key in her hand and hadn't returned it. She opened the door and went inside.

The scene was still a mess, and the panicked state of everyone during the day was still vivid in my mind.

Gu Anran arrived at the center of the show venue, where the crystal chandelier on the ground was smashed into pieces, and there were glass shards and dried bloodstains everywhere. She carefully walked in.

When she returned after many days, she felt somewhat dazed. The incident had happened so suddenly that everyone was focused on escaping for their lives. Gu Anran was so focused on saving people that she had no time to check the surrounding situation.

Fortunately, Ye Lichuan had the place protected after the incident, which gave her the opportunity to examine it.

"Could someone have done this on purpose?" she muttered to herself. But this was just her guess. After all, it was hard to believe that such a basic mistake could happen at such a big fashion show.

Once a person has a bold idea, they will put it into practice.

Gu Anran turned on her phone's flashlight and shone it upwards, discovering that the glass chandelier had fallen from the top floor. After circling around without finding anything, she went back to the backstage area. The doors to the rooms she had used before were unlocked, so she pushed them in one by one to check.

When she pushed open the last door, she was surprised to find that this was where all the light wires converged. One of the wires had been cut. She squatted down, picked it up, and examined it closely. There were obvious signs of cutting.

"Could it really be something someone did on purpose? Who was that person?" If the wiring was really too old and broke, there wouldn't be such neat marks.

The cutting marks confirmed her suspicions; it wasn't an accident at all, but rather something someone had deliberately done to ruin this extremely important day for her.

This person who caused this damage really went to great lengths, putting so much thought and effort into something like this.

Gu Anran sat down on a chair nearby, her heart heaving violently with anger.

Who on earth would do something so malicious and ruthless as to ruin her show, disregarding the lives of everyone present?

If we continue to tolerate this person's misdeeds, who knows what they might do next?

Gu Anran sat in complete darkness, carefully recalling the events of the day. Her mind was a complete mess, she had no clue what to do.

She felt that no one seemed like the person who would harm her, but then she thought about it again and realized that everyone seemed like it.

However, she also realized that instead of sitting here making wild guesses, it would be better to find real evidence to be more convincing.
