Gu Anran immediately called the show's owner, who was very unhappy to be woken up by a phone call so late at night.
"Who is it? Don't you know it's already past midnight? Can't you wait until tomorrow to talk about it?"
Gu Anran revealed her identity and spoke very politely.
The venue owner, who was in a daze, sat up when he heard her name. It was because of YR's fashion show that his venue was stained with blood and became unlucky. What did she want to do by calling now?
"I'd like to ask Mr. Ye how long he rented your space?"
The boss suppressed his temper and did the math. "The lease expires this week." Although Ye Lichuan rented his venue for double the price, it was still a venue that had encountered an accident. From now on, he would have to lower the rent. Thinking of this, the boss couldn't help but sigh.
Gu Anran directly stated that she wanted to extend the lease for another month and was willing to pay more than double the market price, since it would be even more difficult to find evidence if the site had been cleaned up.
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone. This was undoubtedly good news for the boss. Even if it were rented out now, the price wouldn't be worthwhile. After quickly doing some calculations, the boss agreed.
"Okay, send the contract to my email tomorrow."
Gu Anran agreed. She wasn't spending so much money for no reason. The person who did this to her would have to pay her back sooner or later.
She propped herself up on the carpet and sat down, trying to think about the staff who had been at the show that day. But there were so many people that she couldn't be sure who they were, and that included the audience members who had come to see the show.
Unable to figure things out, Gu Anran decided to seek professional help to handle the matter. She scrolled through her phone's contacts and finally settled on her secretary's phone number.
Gu Anran is a very understanding boss. She rarely visits her subordinates outside of work hours, just to give them enough rest time.
But since it was so late tonight, Gu Anran called, and the secretary immediately guessed that it must be something extremely important.
"Boss, what's wrong? What happened?" the secretary asked anxiously on the other end of the phone.
Gu Anran sat in the darkness and said, "I'm at the fashion show. Do you remember what happened before? The incident at the fashion show wasn't an accident. Someone deliberately cut the light cord, which caused the chandelier to fall. I've checked the cut of the light cord, and it's very smooth."
The secretary was outraged upon hearing this and angrily exclaimed, "Who could be so despicable? This is murder!"
“I just don’t know who did it, which is why I’m contacting you so late. I don’t want to make a big deal out of this. Could you contact a private investigator? I want to have someone investigate this matter discreetly,” Gu Anran said.
The secretary readily agreed, saying, "Leave this to me, boss. I will find a private investigator and arrange for you to meet him soon."
"Alright, then I'll leave it to you. Happy New Year." The secretary was taken aback, then her heart softened, and she also wished him a Happy New Year.
When she left, she carefully closed the main gate of the venue to prevent anyone from coming in and causing damage.
No one is allowed to enter this place now, until she finds the murderer.
When she rushed home, Ye Lichuan was still asleep and seemed unaware that she had left midway.
Gu Anran changed into her pajamas, quietly lay back down next to Ye Lichuan, breathed a sigh of relief, and quickly fell asleep next to him.
The next morning, my phone, which was on my bedside table, kept vibrating.
Ye Lichuan reached out to snatch the phone and hang up, but Gu Anran answered it first with lightning speed.
She saw her secretary's phone number on the screen and quickly answered it.
"Boss, I've found the person you asked me to find. This private investigator happens to be available today. Would you like me to arrange a meeting?" The secretary sounded tired on the other end of the phone, probably because she had been busy with this matter.
Gu Anran glanced at Ye Lichuan beside her and whispered into the phone, "I'm available anytime today. You can arrange the time and place."
"Okay, I'll send the time and location to your phone once I confirm them."
Ye Lichuan groaned sleepily, pulled Gu Anran into his arms, and asked in a muffled voice, "What are you going to do?"
"I'm just going to see a friend, you don't need to worry about it." Gu Anran's eyes darted around.
Fearing that Ye Lichuan would continue to press her for answers, Gu Anran quickly got up to wash up, unaware that the person behind her was staring intently at her.
The meeting with the private investigator was scheduled for 2 p.m., and Gu Anran arrived at the coffee shop half an hour early.
The private investigator the assistant hired was a man in his twenties, wearing square-framed glasses and a plaid shirt. He looked like a student, not a detective at all.
"Hello Mr. Lu, you are quite different from what I imagined." Gu Anran smiled politely and shook hands with Lu Bairan.
Lu Boran adjusted his glasses and said, "To obtain information that others cannot, one needs the ability to disguise oneself enough to deceive everyone. I hope Miss Gu will fully trust my abilities and professionalism."
Gu Anran was stunned for a moment; it was the first time she had ever spoken to someone like this.
She wasn't going to mince words. "Of course, I trust your expertise, but I still want to discuss this matter with you in detail. I would appreciate your advice."
Lu Boran raised his hand to signal her to speak.
She stated bluntly, "An accident occurred during my show. I inspected the scene of the accident, and it doesn't seem to be an accident, but rather something deliberately done. Furthermore, my designs were maliciously leaked."
"So, do you want me to help you investigate the truth of the matter, or do you want to find out who's behind it all? These are two completely different directions for investigation," Lu Bairan said calmly.
Gu Anran thought for a moment before she understood what he meant. She tapped the table lightly, making it clear that she wanted both. Price was not an issue; what mattered was how much the truth he had uncovered was worth.
After the two reached an agreement, Gu Anran handed him the photos she had taken. In order to help him investigate better, Gu Anran provided more details for him to investigate.
A day later, Lu Boran contacted her and felt that there might be some connection between the two incidents. As for the design draft, based on his external investigation and photos, he could basically confirm that the person who leaked the design draft was someone close to her.
This idea coincided with Gu Anran's previous thoughts, but she had always trusted the company's employees, never expecting that they would betray the company for money.
"If possible, I'd like to visit your company; I might find it very rewarding."
