Gu Anran was taken aback, then quickly walked up to him and squatted down, her expression becoming serious.
Why would someone suddenly make such a decision?
"Actually, my teacher has been waiting for me to make a decision, but I've been hesitating." He wanted to stay with Xiaoling because he wouldn't be able to see her if he went abroad.
But now that Xiaoling has made it clear that they are just friends, he should go about his own business. That way, he won't have to see Xiaoling and won't be so sad.
Gu Anran knew about the physics competition, but when she asked him last time, he said he wouldn't participate. However, after Xiaoling came to visit, he suddenly decided to participate, which was obviously because of Xiaoling.
She wanted to ask more, but Ye Lichuan stopped her. Xiaotian was clearly in a bad mood, and he wouldn't say much even if she asked. "Since you've made up your mind, then do it."
"I will try my best to win the championship." After saying that, he turned and went back to the living room.
Gu Anran stood outside with mixed feelings. She had refused when her father wanted to send Xiaotian to study abroad because Xiaotian had never left her side since he was a child.

She walked over and turned off the TV. Gu Xiaotian looked up at her and said, "Go and rest first. We'll talk about the details tomorrow." Gu Xiaotian nodded, said goodnight, and went back to her room.
"What if something happens when I go abroad alone without my parents?"
"No, don't you trust Xiaotian?" Ye Lichuan sat down beside her and pulled her into his arms.
Gu Anran shook her head. It wasn't that she didn't believe him; she was just worried. But her child was growing up and wanted to fly, and she couldn't tie his wings and prevent him from soaring.
"He will take responsibility for his decision, and his parents just need to support him from behind."
Perhaps following his choice is the right thing to do. Everyone has to go through hardships in the process of growing up. Xiao Tian is doing it to improve himself. Since he wants to, she should support him.
After returning to her room, Gu Anran began searching online for information on how to live alone and what precautions to take. She wrote these down in a notebook and had Gu Xiaotian take it with her just in case.
Ye Lichuan stayed with her until 2 a.m. before forcibly dragging her back to bed. Every time she struggled, he would hold her even tighter. Even with him by her side, she tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep. By the time she finally drifted off, it was already getting light.
Hearing soft snoring, Ye Lichuan opened his eyes, his gaze clear. He slowly sat up, leaned on the bed, walked to the balcony, gently closed the door, and lit a cigarette.
Xiao Tian was leaving again after less than two years by his side. As a father, he was also very reluctant to let him go. However, he felt that Gu Xiao Tian was right. At his age, he was not suitable for romance. He was just worried that An Ran would worry too much after Xiao Tian left, which would cause health problems.
After finishing the cigarette, he stood for a while until the smell of smoke on his body dissipated before returning to bed. Touched by the cold touch, Gu Anran mumbled something in a daze, then turned over and went back to sleep.
Ye Lichuan heard her calling out Xiaotian's name, sighed silently, and then held her as she drifted off to sleep.
Gu Anran was suddenly awakened from her sleep. She saw that it was eight o'clock, got up and called her teacher to find out about the situation. She then started checking flights and accommodations abroad.
Ye Lichuan took the phone and turned it off, saying, "You don't need to worry about these things. Your sister is still abroad."
Gu Anran turned her head to look at him and noticed that he had two big dark circles under his eyes. She touched his face with heartache, realizing that he hadn't slept well last night either.
"Go take a nap, I'm going to buy some daily necessities and food for Xiaotian." She turned to leave but was pulled down onto the bed, and Ye Lichuan immediately lay on top of her.
“I’ll have the driver prepare. You’ll sleep with me. I can’t sleep without you. You don’t look well either. If Xiaotian sees you like this, he’ll worry.”
Gu Anran touched her face, picked up her phone to look at it, and it didn't look good. Coupled with Ye Lichuan's tired face, she decided to sleep a little longer when her phone suddenly rang.
It was her teacher calling, mainly to say that Gu Xiaotian had called her to confirm his participation in the physics competition, and that time was very tight, as he would be leaving in the next two days, and there would be a period of training after arriving at the location.
Gu Anran couldn't sleep at all. She urged the driver to buy some snacks, and she carried two large bags full of snacks to Gu Xiaotian's room. He was packing his clothes, so she put down the snacks and went over to help him pack.
Considering the weather, Gu Anran took out some thin clothes from her suitcase and put in some thicker coats. "Although it's not exactly cold there, we still have to consider the possibility of the weather suddenly getting cold."
After saying that, he handed him a notebook containing various kinds of knowledge. Gu Xiaotian took it and flipped through it. It was very detailed, covering everything from how to deal with a lost wallet and phone to what to prepare before the competition.
Although he understood all of this, he still put the notebook into his bag. Gu Anran also stuffed the snacks she had specially bought for him into the bag. Gu Xiaotian did not stop her, watching her check the items she had brought over and over again.
He suddenly rushed towards her like a cannonball. Gu Anran, who was squatting on the ground, was knocked down by him and fell to the ground without support. "Mom, I will miss you."
Looking at his still-childish face, Gu Anran felt very reluctant to part with him. "Although I really don't want you to leave, your father is right. You are capable of making judgments now. When you get there, you must take good care of yourself, eat well, and keep warm."
She gave him all the instructions she could remember, and Gu Xiaotian hugged her and nodded obediently, taking every word she said to heart.
