She had originally planned to reduce the number of orders, but those people were all friends, and the company might need them for future collaborations. Fortunately, she could return to her normal work and rest schedule after this busy period.
Aunt Wu couldn't persuade her, so she could only report to Ye Lichuan. She originally thought it was just an occasional occurrence, but she didn't expect that not only would she not eat, but she would also be working at a high intensity.
That evening, he talked to Gu Anran, and only after her repeated assurances did he feel at ease. Aunt Wu also said that things had returned to normal. However, unexpectedly, only two days later, Gu Anran returned to her original timeline.
It was past 10 p.m. when Ye Lichuan finished working overtime and returned home exhausted. Thinking that everyone in his family was asleep, he tiptoed back to his bedroom, but then noticed that the studio light was still on.
He pushed open the door and found her sitting in front of the computer, wearing headphones and drawing design drafts. His anger was instantly ignited.
Unaware of what was happening, Gu Anran was finishing up when her earphones were suddenly ripped off. She turned around in confusion, and upon seeing it was him, said, "Come back..."
"Why aren't you asleep yet? Can't you stop making me worry?" Ye Lichuan couldn't hold back any longer and growled at her.
Gu Anran glanced at the time and realized it was already so late. She had been so busy with the design that she hadn't paid any attention to the time. Knowing that she had made a mistake, she lowered her head to admit it.
However, Ye Lichuan, in his rage, failed to see that she wanted to apologize. "Can't you take good care of yourself? Aunt Wu is running around after you every day, worrying herself sick over you. She doesn't eat or rest on time. How old are you? You still need someone to take care of you!"
"You and I both know how precious this child is. As a mother, don't you know what you should be doing while pregnant?"
The barrage of questions made Gu Anran feel a little wronged, but she still pursed her lips and didn't refute them. Seeing her aggrieved look, Ye Lichuan's heart softened again, but his face remained unchanged.
As he approached the computer desk, intending to turn off her computer, Gu Anran suddenly remembered that she hadn't saved her work and quickly grabbed his hand.
This caused Ye Lichuan to misunderstand again, thinking she still wanted to continue drawing design drafts. He forcibly shut down her computer, grabbed her hand, and dragged her into the bedroom, saying, "Go to sleep now. If the child doesn't get enough sleep, his development will be delayed."
With the last two hours of hard work gone, Gu Anran's eyes immediately reddened. She shook off his hand and glared at him, "Child, child! You only care about the child! You don't care about me at all!"
She knew in her heart that Ye Lichuan cared about her, but when she thought about how he hadn't said a single word about the child, Gu Anran suddenly got stuck in a rut.
"What did you say?" Ye Lichuan looked at her in disbelief.
"Am I wrong? You're only doing this for the child in my belly. If it weren't for this child, you probably wouldn't even bother to look at me. You've only ever loved the child." Gu Anran looked at him stubbornly.
Never in his wildest dreams did he expect her to see him like that. Ye Lichuan suddenly opened his eyes wide, clenched his fists, and the veins on his forehead bulged. He paced back and forth like a trapped beast, constantly telling himself that these were just angry words and that he shouldn't get angry with a pregnant woman.
Seeing that he didn't refute her, Gu Anran felt that she had guessed correctly. Her nose tingled and she almost burst into tears. She touched her stomach and felt very wronged.
"You've always thought that way?"
Gu Anran turned her head away without speaking. After a long silence, she turned and walked towards the room. Ye Lichuan stood in the studio and returned to the bedroom after a long time. He gently turned the doorknob but found that the door was locked.
He paused at the door for a moment before going downstairs. He went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water but accidentally knocked it over. Aunt Wu, who lived on the first floor, heard the noise and came out.
"I'm sorry, Aunt Wu, I woke you up." He bent down to pick up the glass shards, but Aunt Wu stopped him. She turned on the kitchen light, swept away the glass shards, and wiped the glass with a cloth.
"Why aren't you asleep yet, sir? Did you have a fight with your wife?" Ye Lichuan nodded.
Although Aunt Wu felt it might be a bit inappropriate, she still spoke up, after all, she liked the couple very much. "It's very hard for a woman to be pregnant for ten months, and sometimes she can get angry for no reason. But as a husband, you should be tolerant and give her more care."
After saying that, Aunt Wu helped him make up the guest room before leaving. Ye Lichuan lay on the bed and realized that he had indeed not controlled his emotions well tonight. In addition, he had been busy lately and had not spent enough time with her, which made her feel bad. It seemed that he would have to explain to her properly tomorrow.
After thinking it through, he sent a message to his assistant, telling him that he had something to do tomorrow and wouldn't be able to open the company. He told the assistant to contact his father directly if there were any problems. The assistant was still awake and quickly replied to the message.
Although he was exhausted after a busy day, he couldn't fall asleep. Gu Anran was also tossing and turning. She felt bad thinking about how he didn't refute her when she asked that question. She must have hit the nail on the head, otherwise why didn't he explain?
Perhaps because of her pregnancy, she is more sensitive than before, and she overinterprets even the smallest actions.
She finally fell asleep, but dreamed that she had lost her footing. She opened her eyes, panting, and realized that she had a leg cramp. She curled up and gently pressed the stiff tendon with her hand.
After finally stopping smoking, Gu Anran shrank into the blanket, and after a while, faint sobbing could be heard.
To make up for the mistake he made last night, Ye Lichuan, feeling very guilty, got up early to make breakfast. Aunt Wu saw him walk from the kitchen to the garden to water the flowers and clean up.
Using the flour at home, Ye Lichuan decided to make dumplings. He carefully avoided the seasonings she didn't like, prepared the filling, and started making dumplings. It took him almost an hour to finish making the dumplings.
Gu Anran slowly woke up in the room. She instinctively leaned to the side but felt a chill. Remembering what happened last night, she felt depressed.
She came downstairs in her pajamas and slippers and was surprised to see that the people at home were still there. "Why are you up so early, Madam?" Aunt Wu quickly went over to help her.
"I can't sleep." She went to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water but saw that the milk had been heated up and round dumplings were rolling around in the boiling water.
"The gentleman got up early this morning to make dumplings."
Gu Anran looked up at him, her lips twitching a few times but she didn't speak. She picked up her milk, took a sip, and felt a throbbing nerve in her temple. Each throbbing made her head ache. She rubbed her head, put the milk down, and walked out of the kitchen.
Seeing that the two did not communicate at all, Aunt Wu was anxious but helpless. After thinking it over, she decided to leave first and let the two be alone.
The dumplings were cooked quickly, and Ye Lichuan placed them in front of her.
"Try it, it might not be as good as Aunt Wu's."
