Chapter 183 Sickness

After Aunt Wu saw the doctor off, Ye Lichuan sat by the bed looking at her without saying a word. Gu Anran looked up at her and then tentatively reached out to tug at his clothes.

Holding her hand, Ye Lichuan sighed, "What can I say about you?"

"sorry."

"Rest well, I won't indulge you like this again." Looking at her pale face, Ye Lichuan couldn't bring himself to blame her. Besides, as a family member, he had indeed been negligent. He helped her lean against the headboard, covered her with a blanket, and asked Aunt Wu to bring up a bowl of porridge.

Having grown accustomed to Aunt Wu's cooking, she knew from the first bite that this wasn't hers. "The porridge is delicious." Ye Lichuan paused, glancing at her sideways, clearly having seen through her flattery.

After eating nearly half a bowl, she could no longer taste the porridge, and her swallowing speed slowed down considerably. But not wanting him to worry, she forced herself to finish it.

Seeing her discomfort, Ye Lichuan stopped what he was doing, put the bowl aside, and wiped her mouth clean. "Lie down and rest for a while longer."

Gu Anran obediently closed her eyes, but she couldn't fall asleep no matter what. Her long eyelashes trembled constantly. Ye Lichuan bent down and kissed her bright eyes. The moment she opened her eyes, she was plunged into a deep abyss.

Why aren't you sleeping?

“I’m worried about Xiaotian and Xiaoling.”

On the way back from France, she could clearly sense that Xiaoling was very downcast. She knew without even thinking why; these two children were really causing her a lot of worry.

I originally planned to give her some advice after returning to China, but she fell ill as soon as she got back.

"Children have their own destinies, so let them take their own lives. What you need to do now is take good care of your health and not worry about anything else." After saying that, he took off his shoes, got into bed, hugged her in his arms, and closed his eyes.

Confined, Gu Anran had no time to think about anything else. She twisted a few times in his arms and fell asleep. After confirming that she was sound asleep, Ye Lichuan quietly got up and closed the door. He had only taken two steps when he bumped into Huo Ge.

To facilitate the sale of new products, Hogo moved into their home, but that didn't mean he could move around the villa freely.

Looking at his expressionless face, Hogo cursed his bad luck. He didn't think he had done anything wrong, so he didn't know why Hogo had such a big problem with him.

"Is Anran feeling better?"

"Yes, it's time to go to work."

Hogo twitched his lips, and after a moment of stalemate, he could only turn around and head to the company.

He only got to see Gu Anran when they had dinner together that evening. Although she had rested for a day, she still didn't look well. He looked at her with concern.

Noticing his gaze, Gu Anran said, "Rest more and you'll be fine. I'm sorry, it seems I'll have to leave all the follow-up work to you." She took the milky white soup that Ye Lichuan handed her and looked at him apologetically.

"Just rest assured, I'll handle it."

Gu Anran looked at Xiaoling, who was eating silently without making a sound. She wanted to say something but had nothing to say. She could only hope that the outcome would be good if things took their natural course.

After dinner, everyone went back to their rooms. Huo Ge video-called Jia Yunxin. Although they had only been apart for two days, Xiao Mu was very excited to see her father and opened her arms to hug him.

Huo Ge was both happy and heartbroken. He could only kiss his son's chubby face through the screen and listen to his son tell him about the day's events. Behind him, Jia Yunxin also had a smile on her face, but her eyes revealed her exhaustion.

"Xiao Mu, go to sleep, it's almost time." A young girl came over and pulled Xiao Mu away. The girl was Jia Yunxin's assistant. Because she was too busy with work and Huo Ge had gone to France, Xiao Mu had no one to take care of her, so she had to ask her to help.

After his son left, Huo Ge said with concern, "You've had a lot of engagements lately, so you need to get some rest. If you really can't manage, hire a housekeeper."

Aunt Jia Yunxin had considered hiring her, but she was worried that her son wouldn't adapt. Besides, they wouldn't be staying in China for long, and it would be difficult to separate them if her son and Aunt Jia developed a bond. She decided to try to overcome the current difficulties first.

After discussing their son, the two switched to the new product launch. Knowing that it went smoothly, Jia Yunxin felt relieved. After inquiring about Gu Anran's situation, it was already past ten o'clock. She had to attend a promotional event the next day and needed to rest early, so she couldn't video chat anymore.

After reluctantly saying goodbye and the power was turned off, Hogo took a shower and lay down on the bed to rest.

Gu Xiaotian called home as usual, but he happened to be calling the landline. No one in the family was in the living room, so Aunt Wu answered the phone and frankly told him about Gu Anran's illness.

Upon hearing that he was sick, Gu Xiaotian couldn't stay still any longer and quickly ran to his teacher to ask for leave.

“Okay, then you should head back tomorrow morning.” John agreed immediately after learning the situation.

"Thank you, teacher." He bowed and then went back to his room to pack his luggage.

Aunt Wu said that her mother had been sick for two days, and she would call home every night. She never expected that her parents would hide this from her. If Aunt Wu hadn't answered the call, he might not have known that his mother had been sick even after she recovered.

After packing his luggage, he turned on his phone to search for the fastest flight. Just as he was about to pay, there was a knock on the door. He frowned and opened the door to find Elena standing there.

“My father said you’re going to Australia. Can you take me with you? I want to go too.”

"Did the teacher agree?"

Elena nodded. "If he hadn't given his permission, how could I have dared to run away on my own?"

Gu Xiaotian looked at her with a forced smile. If she were really that well-behaved, why would she often sneak out during his study time, causing the teacher to feel chest pain every time?

However, one thing is that she rarely lies, so it seems that the teacher really agreed this time. He exited the payment interface and changed the amount.

The plane took off at 10:00 a.m. local time. On the plane, Gu Xiaotian was worried about his mother's health and was somewhat indifferent to Elena. The two did not exchange many words until they got off the plane.

Elena didn't care at all. She adjusted the camera in her hand, and after she finished, she started looking through the photos. She smiled as she looked at the photos of her and her father.

She loves photography, and this trip to Australia was not only to bring them together, but also to capture the scenery and people of this country.

Xiao Tian flagged down a car, gave the address, and the car sped off towards its destination. Sitting by the window, Elena turned on her camera and kept snapping photos along the bustling street. Some of the photos were blurry, but they had a touch of hazy beauty.

When the car arrived at the villa, Gu Xiaotian took out two hundred-yuan bills and handed them to the driver. Without waiting for the driver to pay the difference, he got out of the car, opened the door using iris recognition technology, and then quickly walked through the living room and upstairs. Aunt Wu hadn't even realized that he was already standing at the door.
