For the next few days, Mengbao would get up early every day to prepare breakfast for Moling.
The first day features nutritious and healthy sandwiches and hot milk; the second day offers delicate morning tea snacks; and the third day is filled with delicious and chewy egg and tomato noodles.
Mo Ling didn't know what she would eat today, but she was especially looking forward to breakfast because it made her feel warm and delicious, especially since it was made by Meng Bao. Although it wasn't a tea snack, the deliciousness still captivated Mo Ling.
"Get up, come on, sit down and eat quickly, it might get cold if you don't eat soon, eat well now." The adorable baby, who was putting breakfast on the table, looked up at Mo Ling, who had just woken up and was still sleepy.
He smiled indulgently, squinted his eyes and said helplessly, "Hurry up and wash up, then we'll start eating."
Mo Ling slapped her head as if waking from a dream, trying to shake off the sleepiness. She mumbled, "Okay, I'll go take care of it now." She yawned, squinted, and went to the bathroom to wash up and do some simple skincare.
The little boy looked at her like that, shook his head with a smile, raised his hand and scratched the bridge of his nose, from low to high, and grinned, "Cute."
After Mo Ling washed up, the two started eating. They ate ordinary steamed buns and soy milk. They finished eating in no time, and Meng Bao drove Mo Ling to work, just like the previous days.
After getting out of the car in her plain but impeccable business attire, Mo Ling turned to the adorable baby and said, "Goodbye, I'm off to work."
"Okay, goodbye." Mengbao nodded to Mo Ling. Mo Ling smiled shyly, waved goodbye to Mengbao, and then turned and went into the company. The smile on her face was gone, and only a polite smile remained on her lips.
Mo Ling stayed at the company for a few days. At first, things were fine. Although she was a little unfamiliar with the people and things there, she still had a good time.
Mo Ling walked into the company as usual, greeted acquaintances and friends and exchanged a few pleasantries. While Mo Ling was waiting for the elevator out of boredom, a few words drifted over from somewhere.
"Ah, it looks like her. Didn't someone say she was... you know? I just saw her get out of a car when I entered the company gate. Do you know what the price was?"
Another Mo Ling anxiously pressed, "What price? What price?"
The person who started off with heavy makeup shook five fingers.
"Fifty thousand?" Mo Ling, who wore gold-rimmed glasses, pressed.
"No, no, no, guess again." The heavily made-up woman deliberately kept her guessing.
"Five hundred thousand?" Mo Ling, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, asked with a hint of doubt, tilting her head.
"No, it's fifty million. I saw it on Weibo last time. Don't be fooled by its black exterior, which looks ordinary. It's actually a limited edition. Tsk tsk tsk, I never expected that someone so rich would come to this company and suffer, competing with us for positions." The heavily made-up woman's eyes flashed with a glint, and she deliberately craned her neck to see Mo Ling's reaction.
But things didn't go as she wished. Mo Ling remained calm and waited for the elevator. The heavily made-up woman rolled her eyes in disappointment and turned back to continue chatting, showing no reaction.
"What! Fifty million? My God, she's really shrewd. She's right up ahead, should we ask her for advice and learn from her? I also want to hook a rich guy, someone who's naive and has too much money."
"You, hahaha, stop messing around." With a "ding," the elevator arrived. The two of them pushed and joked as they walked towards the elevator. The heavily made-up woman bumped into Mo Ling as she passed by, but only glanced at her before turning away.
Mo Ling showed no expression, but slowly clenched her outstretched palm into a fist, holding it tightly.
"Aren't you coming?" Someone asked, noticing that Mo Ling hadn't come up yet and was lost in thought.
Mo Ling snapped out of her daze and stepped into the elevator. She said "thank you" to the person who had just reminded her. The male colleague replied that it was alright, and the elevator fell silent again, as still as a stagnant pool.
People went down one after another, and came up one after another. When Mo Ling reached her floor, she walked out of the elevator with her bag. The two girls' eyes were like needles piercing Mo Ling's back, making her feel extremely sad and angry.
Mo Ling silently tried to shield herself from the malicious and sarcastic glances of the Manchu and Han people, and tried to start working in her office chair as usual.
Those who were watching the spectacle and those with ulterior motives found it all rather boring to see her continue working as usual, looking rather embarrassed.
At this moment, Mo Ling's heart was filled with sadness. After all, she really wasn't good enough for Meng Bao. He was outstanding, ambitious, handsome, from a good family, and had a good personality. Sigh, she was still working hard to make herself better and more outstanding so that she could be worthy of Meng Bao, but it seemed like there was a chasm that was hard to cross.
When she was engrossed in her work, Mo Ling felt how peaceful she was. During her break, she went to the restroom and suddenly heard talking and running water outside.
"Hey, did you hear? That woman, apparently, is being kept by a sugar daddy."
How did you know?
"Tch, someone saw her get out of a limited edition car that costs five thousand this morning. How do you think I know? Just by looking at her, you can tell she's rich to work here. I think she's really good-looking, no wonder he'd be interested in her."
Another voice laughed loudly, saying, "I can smell a strong sour smell coming from you, hahaha."
After turning off the tap, the two walked further and further away until their voices could no longer be heard. Mo Ling then walked out silently with her head down, feeling as if a hole had been torn in her heart, causing her immense pain. Tears slowly slid down her cheeks. Mo Ling looked at herself in the mirror, mustered her spirits, told herself to cheer up, and walked out as if nothing had happened.
After getting off work, Mo Ling sat in her chair and thought for a while. Meng Bao had been busy enough lately, and she didn't want him to be distracted by her affairs. She decided not to talk to him about it. She didn't want him to be bothered by her problems anymore.
After making the decision, Mo Ling went home and tried to act normally, as if nothing had happened. Meng Bao was so busy every day that she was practically on her feet, so she didn't notice anything wrong with Mo Ling.
This morning, Mo Ling was the first to wake up. After making a delicious breakfast, she ate it herself and then prepared to leave for work. Only then did the little one wake up according to her usual biological clock and get out of the warm bed.
Just then, Mengbao arrived and was about to have breakfast. Mengbao wondered why Mo Ling had gotten up so early, while Mo Ling was already getting ready to leave.
"At such a young age, instead of learning good things, he's just trying to be someone's sugar daddy."
