Chapter 59 A Family Outing shuhaige.net

He dared not make any rash moves. Bai Shaojie saw from the monitor that he had woken up: "Kid, you're awake. A little earlier than I expected. Not bad."

Gu Xiaotian frowned and asked tentatively, "Who are you, and why are you arresting me?"

Suddenly Gu Xiaotian heard a burst of laughter: "Why are you being arrested? You should ask your mommy and see who she offended."

Gu Xiaotian calmly asked, "What do you want?"

Bai Shaojie looked at the little devil on the monitor with surprise: "Are you afraid of me?"

Gu Xiaotian looked at the monitor: "I'm scared, but even if I'm scared, you won't let me go."

Bai Shaojie smiled slightly and said, "Very good. I like your personality, but it's a pity we're on opposite sides."

"If you cooperate with me, I'll let you go after I get the money, how about it?"

Gu Xiaotian nodded. He had no better options at the moment, so he had no choice but to listen to the kidnappers for now, suffer less, and find another opportunity to talk things out.

Bai Shaojie dialed the number, using a voice changer: "Hello, Gu Anran. Your son is in my hands now."

Gu Anran finally received a call. The police told her to stall for time, but she gripped the phone tightly: "Hello, I beg you, please don't hurt him. I'll agree to anything you want."

Hearing Gu Anran's voice breaking down, Bai Shaojie laughed smugly, "You bitch, weren't you so powerful?"

Why did he chicken out? He didn't even know the police were locating him. He was still smug. Gu Anran cried her heart out, and he felt a lot more comfortable about the tightness in his chest.

He readily agreed, saying, "I'll give you your son's safety, but I want fifty million. You'll come with the money alone tomorrow. If I find anyone else there, I'll make your son die with me."

Gu Anran pleaded tearfully, "Please, let me tell you a place for my son."

Bai Shaojie laughed as if he had heard a joke and said, "No way."

"As long as you don't try anything funny, I guarantee your son's safety. But if you dare to try anything funny, I won't hesitate to give you an ear first."

Gu Anran cried out in surprise, "No, I'll do as you say!"

Gu Anran asked softly, "I want to hear my son's voice."

Bai Shaojie readily agreed and connected to Gu Xiaotian's room via voice chat. Gu Xiaotian heard Gu Anran's voice and shouted, "Mommy, I'm fine, don't worry."

Upon hearing Gu Xiaotian's voice, Gu Anran instantly broke down in tears. Before she could say anything more, Bai Shaojie cut her off, saying impatiently, "Start the timer now. If I don't see the money by this time tomorrow, I'll kill the hostage."

The phone call ended abruptly, and Ye Lichuan hugged Gu Anran, tenderly wiping away her tears.

"Xiao Tian will be alright, don't cry," he assured him.

He understood all too well what Gu Xiaotian meant to Gu Anran; if something happened to his son, Gu Anran probably wouldn't be able to go on living.

He asked the police for details, and the location was detected in a construction building in the suburbs.

Construction on that site has been suspended for some reason.

The police sent someone to take aerial photos of the area, but the place was too big to see which building it was in.

After eliminating several suspicious points and identifying two buildings as the most likely candidates, they secretly sent people to survey the area.

Ye Lichuan asked his assistant to prepare the money. He was a VIP customer at the bank, so money was not a problem.

With everything prepared, Gu Anran finally felt a little more at ease.

Their long wait for tomorrow was undoubtedly a grueling day for Gu Anran and Ye Lichuan.

Old Master Ye somehow got wind of the news and called to question Ye Lichuan, who had no choice but to tell him the truth.

Grandma Ye was in tears, and Grandpa Ye looked at his wife with heartache: "Li Chuan said it's all arranged, so don't worry."

Grandma Ye didn't say a word, she just cried, and Ye Lichuan's sister stayed with her mother.

The next day was a difficult night for everyone. Finally, Gu Anran received a phone call and went to the building with the money she had prepared.

The police had already made arrangements in advance. Gu Anran dragged her suitcase inside alone. Bai Shaojie cunningly told her to leave the money downstairs in another building while he observed the surrounding situation.

Seeing that no one was coming down to collect the money and leave, he was unaware that a trap was lying in his way.

He watched Gu Anran leave, then came down from another building to get money, intending to use it to travel abroad and have a good time, when he bumped into the suitcase.

Then a loud voice rang out: "Don't move, hands up, police!"

Some of the police went to rescue Gu Xiaotian, and he was locked up in a room that used to be a rest room for workers.

Gu Xiaotian was safely brought out. Bai Shaojie kept cursing Gu Anran. Ye Lichuan walked over and kicked him in the stomach, making him wince in pain.

Gu Anran hugged Gu Xiaotian and burst into tears. Gu Xiaotian held Gu Anran tightly, tears streaming down his face.

Ye Lichuan helped the mother and son into the car and drove away.

Gu Anran felt like she had survived a disaster. If it were her, she wouldn't be so afraid, but that person just happened to be Gu Xiaotian, and that was her fate.

Ye Lichuan held the mother and son tightly. It would be a lie to say he wasn't afraid. If anything happened to Gu Xiaotian, he and Gu Anran would suffer for the rest of their lives.

No one in the family spoke; they just sat quietly in the car and drove all the way back to their old house.

When Grandpa Ye received the call and learned that Gu Xiaotian had been rescued, he was finally relieved.

After driving back to the old house, they all breathed a sigh of relief. Gu Anran leaned against Ye Lichuan's chest, quietly looking at Gu Xiaotian in her arms.

After getting out of the car, Grandpa Ye and Grandma Ye were waiting for them at the door. Gu Xiaotian ran over and hugged them tightly, and Grandma Ye burst into tears.

Gu Xiaotian quickly wiped away his grandmother's tears: "Grandma, don't cry. I will definitely be careful in the future and never give bad people a chance."

Being born into a wealthy family means that safety is of paramount importance, as there are always those desperate individuals who dream of getting something for nothing.

Only through hardship can one truly grow. Old Master Ye looked at Gu Anran with a displeased expression and an unfriendly attitude.

"How come you, a woman, have so many enemies? My precious grandson almost got into trouble because of you," Old Master Ye complained unhappily.

When Ye Lichuan saw his wife being scolded by his father, he immediately defended her, saying, "This is not her fault. Bai Shaojie is the one who is heartless and insane."

Old Master Ye slapped Ye Lichuan, clearly disappointed in him, and angrily questioned, "If she hadn't exposed the video, leaving Bai Shaojie with nowhere to turn, would he have thought of retaliating against her?"

Knowing she was in the wrong, Gu Anran didn't dare say a word. She just stood there quietly being scolded by Old Master Ye.

As the story progressed, Old Madam Ye couldn't bear it any longer and interrupted, "Alright, it's good that the old man is back safe and sound."

Gu Xiaotian also defended his mother: "Grandpa, please don't blame my mother anymore. She didn't do it on purpose. She was the one who was most worried when I got into trouble."
