Chapter 78 The Nurse's Thoughts

Gu Xiaotian, despite his young age, was spouting his own twisted logic. Surprisingly, the seasoned veteran Ye Laoye was not displeased. Instead, he listened quietly to him and even responded with a few kind words.

Pushing open the ward door, I saw my parents, whom I had always loved, one standing and the other lying down, staring at me as I entered.

The posture was the same as usual, but Gu Xiaotian frowned in confusion, feeling that the atmosphere in the room was strange. Was it just his imagination?

The old man was a shrewd man. He glanced indifferently at their bright red lips. Gu Anran's eyes were still red from being bullied, while Ye Lichuan smiled like an old fox. What was there not to understand?

He snorted coldly, but refrained from scolding the child on the spot because the child had just reprimanded him.

Only Gu Xiaotian was completely baffled by this adult riddle, but he didn't dwell on it for long. He pulled the old man to the bedside and proudly boasted, "Mom and Dad, I've already talked to Great-Grandpa, and he won't scold you for no reason anymore."

Ye Lichuan's lips twitched. Should he thank his son for letting him grow up without being scolded by his grandfather?

Gu Anran felt as if the old man had seen right through her with that one glance. She knew she couldn't stay in the ward any longer, so she stammered, "It's almost noon. I'll go back and make lunch. I'll leave things here in your care, Grandpa."

"Okay, go ahead, don't worry about things here." The old man's expression softened slightly, and he nodded before letting the person leave.

Only Ye Lichuan glanced at her reluctantly, before turning his gaze away after being sneered by the old man.

The eyes cast at the old man were all condemning him for breaking up the couple.

Gu Anran left the ward in a hurry, unaware of such a thing. After leaving the ward, she went to the bathroom first to wet her hot cheeks until she felt normal before leaving the hospital.

On the way, we passed a vegetable market, quickly selected some fresh vegetables, and bought a few fish before leaving. Fish soup is good for your health and also helps with wound healing.

Back home, after quickly preparing the ingredients, I put the fish soup on the stove to simmer over low heat, and then leaned against the door, lost in thought.

She touched her lips with her fingertips, as if the sensation was still there. Although she had a child, she didn't have many opportunities for such intimate contact.

My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of my chest.

She tried to cover her chest, even feeling like she was sick, otherwise why would she react so strongly to Ye Lichuan's kiss?

No, this can't go on. She took a deep breath and shook her head, trying to break free from Ye Lichuan's influence, but it didn't work no matter how many times she tried.

The fish soup in the casserole was bubbling, so she quickly turned off the heat and poured it into a thermal container after it had cooled down a bit.

Gu Anran thought like an ostrich: since she couldn't figure it out now, she might as well take it one step at a time.

Back at the hospital, the grandfather, grandfather, and grandson were still waiting in the ward. Gu Xiaotian was playing games by himself, while the old man and Ye Lichuan were discussing the company's recent situation. They all looked up at the same time when they heard the noise.

Ye Lichuan's eyes lit up, and he beckoned her over.

Gu Anran dared not be too blatant, so she ignored it and walked to the table in the room, arranging the food boxes one by one.

She prepared the old man's portion overnight, but she didn't know if he would like to eat it.

"These are all light and easy to digest, eat up." Gu Anran finished tidying up, picked up a bowl of fish soup and handed it to Ye Lichuan. His arm was still okay, so he didn't need her to feed him at all. It was Gu Xiaotian who sometimes needed her help.

Seeing that the excuse of being injured was useless, Ye Lichuan had no choice but to take matters into his own hands.

The group finished their lunch simply. Her cooking was quite good, and even the old man rarely praised her.

Finally, Gu Anran took the insulated box to the bathroom to wash it. When she came out, the old man had already gone home.

With only the three of them left in the ward, Gu Anran gradually relaxed.

"What delicious food did you make?" Ye Lichuan asked with interest as Gu Anran took out a large food box.

Gu Anran opened it: "These are all your favorite foods. I made them myself, so even if they're not delicious, you should still give them a try."

As he spoke, he placed the items one by one in front of Ye Lichuan.

The food was prepared according to Ye Lichuan's preferences, and it was delicious and visually appealing. Moreover, it was Gu Anran's thoughtful gesture.

Ye Lichuan gave him a polite smile and said, "Anything An Ran makes is the best."

"Look at your sweet talk." Gu Anran pursed her lips, but the smile in her eyes and brows was almost impossible to hide.

The family of three was having a meal in the hospital room, chatting and laughing, and seemed to be getting along quite well. However, they had chosen a bad time; before they had finished their meal, a nurse pushed open the door and said, "Mr. Ye, it's time to change your dressing."

As she spoke, she looked up and saw Gu Anran and Gu Xiaotian sitting beside the hospital bed. Her face showed no surprise: "Who are you? Don't you know this is Mr. Ye's private ward? Unauthorized personnel are not allowed to enter!"

These words were quite impolite, but Gu Anran didn't think much of it, assuming it was just her nurse's instinct and duty.

Besides, she doesn't have time to spend so much time and effort paying attention to a nurse.

Gu Anran pulled Gu Xiaotian to his feet: "You change the dressing."

When the nurse saw them step aside, her expression softened, and she swaggered over: "Mr. Ye, it's time to change the dressing."

The nurse had a small name tag on her chest, and Gu Anran glanced at it, vaguely making out the character "Lin". Worried about Ye Lichuan's condition, she asked from the side, "Nurse Lin, right? How is his injury healing?"

Nurse Lin was removing the original gauze and bandages when she heard Gu Anran's question. She was initially reluctant to answer, but she paused for a moment and still said rather bluntly, "As long as you get plenty of rest and avoid being disturbed, you'll recover quickly."

This statement has a hidden meaning.

However, Gu Anran didn't think that taking care of her lover was a "disturbance" at all, so she still regarded it as a medical staff member's obligatory instruction, and even nodded in agreement: "Okay, I remember."

Nurse Lin didn't respond at all, and continued to silently untie the gauze and bandages on Ye Lichuan's body.

After finally finishing disassembling the items, Nurse Lin gently placed the used items on a small cart and took out the medication that needed to be applied.

As she opened the lid, she gently comforted him, "Mr. Ye, I'm about to apply the medicine. I'll try to be gentle, but it will still hurt a little. Please bear with it for a moment."

Ye Lichuan nodded slightly, but his gaze remained fixed on Gu Anran.

Seeing the look of concern on Gu Anran's face, Ye Lichuan shook his head at her with amusement: "Don't worry, it won't hurt."

There's no such thing as applying medicine without pain. It's just that the man in front of me is too good at enduring pain.

Gu Anran nodded with heartache, but her hand unconsciously tightened around Gu Xiaotian's hand in her arms.
