Chapter 92 Losing a Child

Gu Anran clenched her fists, suppressing her anger, and said to the staff member, "You need to have evidence to back up your words. As a staff member of the competition, don't you think you've neglected your duty by saying such a thing?"

The staff member sneered twice, ignored her, and turned to leave, but Gu Anran grabbed her. The staff member, who didn't want to get entangled in the first place, suddenly shook her off, and she almost lost her balance, instinctively protecting her stomach.

"You have no ability but you still make trouble. Who do you think you are? Get out of here!" He looked disgusted and disdainful.

Even if he knows the inside story, so what? In this world, everyone is after money. Once he takes the money, he'll naturally do things for people. If someone is smart, they won't bother a lowly employee like him.

Fearing that angering him would harm the baby, Gu Anran calmed down a bit. "Since coming to you is useless, it's not unreasonable for me to ask to see the surveillance footage, is it?"

The staff member was taken aback when she made this request, but still maintained a mocking expression, saying, "Do you think you, a contestant, can just access this surveillance footage as you please?"

Knowing that if Gu Anran were to cause trouble here, things would get out of control, he had to get her to leave quickly. With that in mind, he walked towards Gu Anran.

Gu Anran, who had been watching his movements, noticed something was wrong. She took two steps back and bumped into the table behind her. There was a staff member's cup on the table. It wobbled a couple of times before falling over onto the table, with water dripping down the edge. Neither of them noticed because of the tense atmosphere.

"I'm just exercising my rights normally. If you don't want to tell me where the monitoring room is, I'll go there myself!"

The staff were worried that things would be exposed, so how could they possibly tell her?

"Get out of here right now, or I'll call security."

"I must see the surveillance footage today," Gu Anran insisted.

This remark thoroughly enraged the staff member. Without hesitation, he lunged forward and shoved her forcefully. Gu Anran slipped, and with a cry of surprise, she fell to the ground with a dull, heavy thud.

The moment she fell, she protected her stomach, but she still panicked. Her stomach felt like it was being pricked with needles. She trembled all over, dared not look at what was beneath her, and tears streamed down her face.

The staff member was also frightened. The ground in front of him was covered in blood, which was slowly flowing and merging with the water that had just fallen in. After realizing what was happening, he wanted to go and help, but stopped halfway.

"Quick! Call an ambulance for me, please...please!" Blood had stained her dress and hands, her hair was disheveled, and a few strands of hair, along with tears, clung to her face. Her eyes were filled with fear.

Her face was pale, her lips were bloodless, and she kept pleading with the staff member. When he didn't respond, she crawled over to pick up the phone that had fallen to the side, and the long bloodstains testified to her despair.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." The staff member turned to run out, but was caught red-handed by Ye Lichuan, who had come looking for him.

He grabbed the staff member by the collar, demanding, "Where's my wife?"

The staff kept shaking their heads. He heard a noise inside, so he shook them off and rushed inside, where he saw a shocking scene.

"Save the child." Gu Anran managed to say her last words before fainting.

He pulled her into his arms and rushed outside, ignoring Gu Xiaotian behind him. Gu Anran's blood stained him, and the smell of blood filled the air.

Gu Xiaoan was also frightened. She held back her tears and ran outside with her father. There was no time to go to the parking lot, so Ye Lichuan just got into a car and told him to drive.

The man was somewhat confused, but seeing the two covered in blood, he didn't bother to ask any more questions. He stepped on the gas and drove off. The road was clear, and the hospital staff were already waiting outside. They immediately took the two people into the emergency room.

Ye Lichuan grabbed the last nurse, "No matter what, you must ensure the adults' safety."

“We will do our best,” the nurse said, then shook off his hand.

He sat on a chair to the side, his hands still trembling. The bright light shone on him, and he was the only person in the long corridor, which seemed very heavy.

Gu Xiaotian arrived shortly after, saw the green light in the operating room, and sat down next to him.

"Mom will be alright, she'll definitely be alright." His tone was very firm, but he couldn't hold back his tears; he had seen his mother covered in blood just now.

"It's because Dad is useless. He can't protect you or Mom." Ye Lichuan grabbed his hair in frustration, his mind filled with the image of Gu Anran lying in the blood.

"Don't blame Dad. We need to cheer up. Mom must be even more heartbroken than us," he said, wiping away his tears haphazardly.

The surgery lasted for more than two hours. When the door opened, the two men stood up at the same time. The doctor came over, took off his mask, and said, "The adult is not in danger, but the child..." The doctor patted him on the shoulder and left.

Before she could even grieve, Gu Anran was already being wheeled out. She was still unconscious, her face suddenly turning pale. Two people stood on either side of her as she slowly woke up in the evening. Her eyes were lifeless, and she wasn't sure if the baby was still alive.

“We’ll have another child, you should rest well,” Ye Lichuan comforted him.

She didn't speak, just stared out the window, and after a long while said, "I want to rest for a bit."

Ye Lichuan nodded and didn't bother her anymore. After leaving the room, he told Gu Xiaotian to keep an eye on her, as he had to go out. Gu Xiaotian understood and obediently nodded.

He drove to a house where a staff member was forced to kneel on the ground, constantly apologizing to him. Ye Lichuan didn't say a word, but went up and punched him, followed by a brutal beating.

With bloodshot eyes, Ye Lichuan struck with brutal force, beating the man to the point of near death. Fortunately, someone stopped him in time, saying, "If you keep hitting him, he'll die."

He stopped what he was doing and looked at the staff member who was inhuman. "Get out of this city. If I see him again, it won't be so simple."

The staff nodded repeatedly. Ye Lichuan left the room, drove home, changed his clothes, and only then dared to go to the hospital. When he arrived, Gu Anran was receiving an IV drip.

He waited until the nurse left before sitting down next to her. "Don't think about anything right now. Just rest well and get healthy so we can have another baby."

"Mom, you still have me," Gu Xiaotian said, holding her hand to comfort her.

Gu Anran, who had been quiet all along, finally burst into tears. Ye Lichuan pulled her into his arms and patted her gently. It took a while for her emotions to calm down.

"You should withdraw from the competition. Your body isn't suited to overexertion right now." He gently wiped away her tears, while Xiao Tian beside him was also joking around.

Seeing the expectant looks in their eyes, Gu Anran slowly nodded. She couldn't be willful and make them worry. Ye Lichuan couldn't help but kiss her forehead, then helped her lie down and pulled the blanket up for her.
