Chapter Seventeen: So Cute
Chen Jia breathed a sigh of relief when she saw You Sui'an return, panting. "We thought you'd lost it. We were about to ask the dorm supervisor for help."
Chen Jia was tidying up with a small nightlight, and she was peeking out from under the lamp.
You Suian glanced at her watch under the lamplight; it had been five minutes since the lights were turned off. She smiled somewhat apologetically: "My deskmate suddenly felt unwell, so I took her to the school gate. I'm sorry to have worried you all."
You Sui'an's smile is so irresistible, so sweet and gentle, Chen Jia's heart was instantly captivated.
What else is there to say? The dormitory building was given to her.
Chen Jia comforted her, "Don't worry, it's probably just that the weather has changed a lot and your stomach got cold. It should be fine."
You Suian thought about it and agreed. He nodded obediently and smiled.
She is always well-behaved and quiet in front of people she doesn't know very well.
After washing up, You Sui'an lay in bed, but couldn't fall asleep.
She rolled over and tried to lie on her side.
I still can't sleep.
She had no choice but to switch back to lying flat, which she was used to.
She was worried about Tang Qingyue one moment and thinking about Li Yunxing the next.
How is Tang Qingyue? Is she in so much pain that she can't sleep? All she could think about was Tang Qingyue's pale face.
Although Tang Qingyue was naturally fair-skinned and usually looked like she was glowing, she still looked terrifying at that time.
A moment later, she thought of Li Yunxing again. They walked together late at night, almost like they were secretly dating.
Speaking of dating, she remembered how Xiao Chou had subtly stirred up hatred for her and made Li Yunxing sad. You Sui'an was already thinking of getting back at Xiao Chou.
However, she only thought about it; she was too lazy and didn't plan to take any action.
Her roommate, Qi Xiaoqian, stirred slightly, apparently not asleep either.
She lowered her voice and said, "I can't sleep. It's so cold. This lousy school doesn't even provide air conditioner remotes."
Temperatures in Province C can drop by 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, and it's not uncommon for temperatures to continue to fall for several days afterward.
It was raining when the temperature first dropped, and they thought it was just an unusually cold day.
The temperature is dropping little by little, but the holiday is not far away. Many people think it will be more convenient to bring a thick quilt when they return to school next time.
I just didn't expect it to be so cold today. It's probably only around 10 degrees Celsius.
It's so hot it drives you crazy, and so cold it makes you shiver.
But Province C happens to be in the south. There's no central heating in the south. All they can do in winter is turn on the air conditioning.
But winter hasn't arrived yet.
You Sui'an is afraid of the cold, but she has never been cold.
She brings a quilt with her every semester, just in case the temperature suddenly drops. She also always packs warm clothes in her suitcase.
So she's very warm now.
People who are afraid of the cold will never feel cold.
You Sui'an quietly replied to her, "Wait for me a moment."
Qi Xiaoqian was about to join You Suian in criticizing the school, since the students were particularly resentful, and high school students had the most resentment towards the school.
This is one of the great pleasures in a painful and tedious life.
You Sui'an's actions left Qi Xiaoqian somewhat puzzled.
You Suian sat up, lunged forward, and picked up the air-conditioning quilt she had used a few days ago.
She handed a large, soft blanket to Qi Xiaoqian.
Qi Xiaoqian was stunned. Only then did she remember that You Sui'an seemed to have two quilts.
Although it wasn't thick, her own bed was only that thin, so now she had two beds.
The thickness suddenly doubled, which surprised and delighted her.
I love you to death!!!
You Suian was amused, and although Qi Xiaoqian spoke freely, she was not frightened.
Instead, she seemed quite interested: "Would you like to kiss me?"
Qi Xiaoqian also found it amusing: "Although my future boyfriend might be jealous, he won't see it. Come on, let's give each other a kiss."
Moreover, You Sui'an is as beautiful as a delicate white flower, gentle and lovely. No matter how you look at it, she's not at a disadvantage.
You Sui'an knew she was joking, and laughed and teased, "Then you should get in line. There are plenty of people who want to kiss me."
The two didn't chatter for long, since it was already evening.
You Sui'an lay down with a smile. The new dorm is pretty good, although the old one was also very nice.
You Sui'an slept soundly.
The next morning, You Suian woke up to find it was already 6:20, and it just so happened to be her turn to clean.
She was very hungry.
...
Let's go to the classroom early today.
In winter, we read aloud at 7:00 AM and again at 7:20 AM.
She doesn't really care about being late, but it would be a little awkward if she ate breakfast while others were studying and memorizing.
You Suian rolled around on the bed, scratched his messy hair, and got up.
She packed up quickly, then rummaged through her storage box, took out a bottle of yogurt and a bag of bread, stuffed them into her pocket, picked up a trash bag, and headed to the classroom, occasionally quickening her pace.
Fortunately, the landfill is on the only way to the classroom.
People were running all the time on the road.
In fact, most people at school are racing against time; it's just that You Sui'an isn't used to it.
She was like an outsider, completely out of place here.
But many people like her, and many people want to be as carefree as her.
6:52.
You Suian arrived at the classroom, panting. She threw the breakfast she had brought with her onto the table and saw Tang Qingyue in her seat. She was somewhat incredulous.
You're back so early?
I didn't get home until after 10 p.m. last night, and I was probably still half asleep when I arrived.
Tang Qingyue could tell what she was thinking from her shocked expression.
She said somewhat helplessly that Teacher Jiang took her directly to the hospital last night, and then waited for her mother to come over. After they saw the doctor, he took them home directly.
Before parting, Teacher Jiang told her to wait for her at her doorstep at 6:30 the next day so they could take her back to school together.
Teacher Jiang is still terrifying. In his class, almost no one asked for leave; even those with fevers of 40 degrees Celsius only had their parents bring them medicine.
Teacher Li was also an oddball. He believed that people should prioritize living before studying. You Sui'an strongly agreed.
"So you came back like this? Are you feeling better? What's wrong? If you're not feeling well, you should take another day off today." You Suian was very worried and asked a lot of questions.
Tang Qingyue said nonchalantly, "Acute gastroenteritis, nothing serious."
But then she suddenly looked uncomfortable: "This morning I had plain congee, and it tasted awful. My mom steamed some dumplings, but she didn't let me eat much of them, let alone dip them in sauce."
Tang Qingyue loves spicy food, and eating bland food makes her very uncomfortable.
However, she took out a thermos and handed it to You Suian.
You Sui'an's eyes lit up immediately: "Wow, Auntie brought this for me?"
Hehe. You Sui'an was overjoyed and gave Tang Qingyue a big hug.
Somewhat suddenly, Tang Qingyue hadn't reacted yet, her hand stiffened a little, but she didn't refuse, instead patting her back.
She never refused a trip to Sui'an. In fact, she really liked it.
You Suian immediately threw the small bread he brought from the dormitory into the table, without even glancing at it, and smiled as he took the insulated box.
You Sui'an sometimes went to Tang Qingyue's house for meals. She was exceptionally well-behaved in front of the parents, sweet-talking and very likable. Her aunt was also a warm and talkative person, quite different from Tang Qingyue.
You Suian enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast.
Tang Qingyue looked at the book, but her thoughts drifted away.
It was also a cold winter.
Mom said she could make some dumplings for breakfast tomorrow. For some reason, she suddenly wanted to say, "How about I call Shangyou Sui'an?"
The mother seemed very happy and agreed with great satisfaction. Her daughter was just too introverted, and she was very pleased to see her daughter take the initiative to invite friends over.
So Tang Qingyue sent a message to You Suian that evening.
【^o^】:Our Qingyue is so amazing! Hehe, I definitely want to go! (Cat-like pouting jpg.)
【^o^】:It's just...could you come pick me up? I'm lost again.
Tang Qingyue replied with an "okay." You Sui'an is so lovely.
Her expression right now must be smiling, just like this symbol.
Someone who's usually so smart is actually terrible with directions. Their neighborhoods are actually quite close together, but there are too many intersections to cross, and You Sui'an can't remember them all.
They would occasionally do their homework together. Tang Qingyue had already memorized the way to her house, but You Suian was still clueless.
However, You Sui'an didn't care; it's not shameful to get lost.
Later, she came across a claim that children who learn to walk too early have poorer spatial awareness because they spend much less time crawling and exploring on the ground. ① You Sui'an wholeheartedly agreed.
She learned to walk very early and learned to talk quickly. By the time she was two, she could already recite her parents' phone numbers, since they were living in another city and her parents were afraid she would get lost.
She was very smart from a young age.
She didn't need to count on her fingers in kindergarten anymore; no one taught her, but she liked it that way.
When learning pinyin in first grade, students can pronounce it accurately by simply repeating it once with the teacher, and they don't need to look at supplementary teaching materials when doing homework.
Learning written language and spoken language is especially easy for her.
So she felt this statement made a lot of sense, and that she wasn't actually stupid.
She dislikes solid geometry because it's too complicated to think about. If solid geometry is combined with other concepts, such as sequences, and these kinds of questions are usually multiple choice, she'll definitely leave them until last, looking at them only when she has time, otherwise ignoring them altogether.
The same applies to the more complex problems. If a coordinate system can be established, even if it is sometimes difficult to find three mutually perpendicular lines, and even if it requires a very complicated and careful proof, she feels that it is much better than using geometric methods.
She didn't know why she was so bothered by these things. Perhaps this was the reason?
But that's not a big deal. There are plenty of things she doesn't like.
You Suian and Tang Qingyue had visited each other's homes before, but only when their parents were not home.
You Suian got up very early, waiting for Tang Qingyue to come and pick her up.
It was drizzling that day, and Tang Qingyue had brought a large umbrella, so it wouldn't matter if she forgot to bring it when she came down from You Sui'an.
You Sui'an came out of her house, her hands still warm. She didn't take the umbrella from her, but instead held Tang Qingyue's slightly cool hand.
It's very warm.
Then You Suian took the umbrella from her again, and by then her hands weren't so cold anymore.
They walked slowly like that.
The rain was both light and heavy.
This caused a great stir in Tang Qingyue's heart.
Tang Qingyue put down her book and glanced at You Suian.
As if sensing her gaze, You Sui'an looked at her with some concern: "Are you feeling unwell?"
Tang Qingyue shook her head and said, "I just remembered the first time you came to my house for dinner, we also ate dumplings then."
You Sui'an added with a grin, "I wrapped them myself."
You Sui'an was actually quite nervous at that time. She was worried that she wouldn't make a good impression.
That was the first time You Sui'an met Tang Qingyue's mother.
She looked somewhat thin, but very capable. Her hair was half white, and she had deep and shallow wrinkles on her forehead and obvious crow's feet at the corners of her eyes. She looked like she loved to laugh.
She is a very approachable woman.
You Suian was initially a little reserved, sitting obediently, but she became much more at ease after being warmly greeted by her.
You Suian answered seriously, and occasionally told some interesting stories about Tang Qingyue. She listened very attentively. Tang Qingyue's ears turned red, but she did not interrupt and occasionally joined in.
The aunt said that Tang Qingyue only brought friends home when she was in elementary school, and she hasn't done it since.
A fleeting look of melancholy crossed her face, but You Suian noticed it.
They had a great time chatting.
After the meal, the aunt had to go to work. She was reluctant to leave and told You Sui'an to come and visit often and treat this place as his own home.
You Sui'an agreed, and this wasn't just a polite remark. She could tell that her aunt liked her very much and also appreciated the changes she had brought to Qingyue.
The two of them cleaned up the dishes together. The kitchen was a bit small, and it was a little crowded for the two of them to stand by the sink.
But You Sui'an liked it very much. Although Tang Qingyue wanted her to sit and play by herself for a while, she did not agree.
After they came out, You Suian curled up on the sofa and played games while leaning on her shoulder.
Tang Qingyue was also watching the melodramatic plot on TV.
The rain seems to be getting heavier. You Sui'an likes this kind of rain.
She left at ten o'clock. If she hadn't left, the auntie would probably have come back early and gone out to buy a lot of groceries. She didn't want to disturb her work.
She remembered her aunt's smiling, sincere eyes.
So she started coming here often after that.
Clingy and endearing.
Even someone with a terrible sense of direction can clearly remember a somewhat complicated road, or even a corner alley.
She doesn't actually like going out.
But both places are home, so what's so tiring about going home?
