Chapter Twenty-Two: No Snow

Chapter Twenty-Two: No Snow

The number of exam papers doubled and then doubled again; the final exams were finally here. Of course, no one looked forward to the exams, but winter break was just around the corner.

Their grade's vice principal still insisted on the principle of giving as many holidays as possible, but could only manage to secure three weeks.

Moreover, they are only in their second year of high school now, and they have no idea how painful the third year of high school is.

The first semester of my junior year of high school has passed just like that.

Although the winter break was pitifully short, and although the number of exam papers was heartbreaking.

You Sui'an packed up the quilt covers and sheets and took them home. He didn't take much else with him, but he left one suitcase behind.

You returned home panting from Suian, and only after lying there for two days did you finally decide to go out and browse the supermarket.

Not long after, Yan Yuan, Tang Qingyue, and others invited her out. She accepted all their invitations and then stayed home for a long time afterward.

Her sleep schedule is completely reversed; she can't distinguish between day and night. She's the only one at home now.

But she wasn't alone. Her good friends invited her out, and Li Yunxing would drag her to play games every day. When she was bored, she could also play guitar.

A few days later, You Suian looked at the message his mother had sent, and then at his messy room.

...

[Baby Helper Sticker]: I'm not hitting anymore, I need to clean the house.

[Little Cloud]: ...?

[Baby Support Sticker]: My parents are coming back.

After turning off his phone, You Sui'an noticed the miscellaneous items in the room, lay back down on the bed, and scrolled through some short videos before getting up.

She gathered up the clothes that were drying and folded them neatly. She also folded up the thin blanket on the sofa, and collected the takeout boxes on the coffee table and table and threw them downstairs.

The kitchen wasn't much to tidy up; she only cooked noodles or fried rice when she felt like it. It was very clean.

She went back to her room, which looked cozy, but to others it was messy.

well.

She tidied up the desk, took the cup from the bedside table to the living room, and then spread the quilt out flat.

This was her last act of defiance. The blankets on the bed should be spread out like this.

Then she crawled into bed.

With nothing else to do, she logged into the game again. Li Yunxing was still playing; it had just started, and she played a round by herself.

I didn't expect my hands to get so cold in just a short while.

Winters in Province C are too cold, and there's no heating. Even with the doors and windows tightly closed, the wind still gets in.

The air inside is cold.

You Suian only exposed his hands, and after only half an hour, his hands were frozen.

She picked up the hot water bottle to charge it; the cat's paws looked adorable, all fluffy and warm.

She looked up at the screen, and [Little Cloud] sent her another team invitation.

She was playing jungle last time, and I was so busy trying to find my rhythm that I didn't even have time to put my hands in the blanket to warm them up.

"Want to play marksman? I'll teach you," You Suian asked, then changed his role to support.

Li Yunxing thought back to when she taught him how to play support, how gentle and attentive she was, even though it might be because she still thought of him as a little girl back then.

He paused for a moment, then said, "Okay."

Then, You Sui'an got to play Yao, a class that didn't require much physical effort.

Before reaching level four, You Sui'an didn't have his ultimate ability. He played seriously and occasionally helped Li Yunxing last-hit minions. He didn't play marksmen much and wasn't very good at last-hitting minions.

From level one to four, she would hang on Li Yunxing's head, only using a skill to scout vision when passing through bushes. If the enemy tried to grab her, she would push them away. Shielding and healing were her basic operations, and she didn't need to put in too much effort.

She even took a moment to grab the hot water bottle that had just been charged to warm her hands.

She tapped the signal and said, "There must be a lot of people here."

Li Yunxing was somewhat incredulous. The other side had come so many times; why were they haunting them like ghosts?

But he stayed obediently under the turret and didn't even go to farm the minion wave.

You Suian jumped down, walked over two seconds later, and used his first skill. There were indeed three people inside waiting for Li Yunxing to come over.

Then she quickly retreated, her ultimate skill ready again, and jumped onto Li Yunxing's head, who was waiting to catch her not far away.

The other side then slunk away.

Li Yunxing was dumbfounded; this lousy archer was simply not a human being capable of playing.

You Sui'an was used to it and could leisurely guide Li Yunxing on when to buy which equipment, occasionally giving him a location or reminding him that the enemy jungler was probably flanking again.

Li Yunxing thoroughly enjoyed playing the game and also found leisure in Sui'an.

Both of them were very satisfied and played a few more rounds together.

My hands were very cold and had turned a little discolored, but I had a very comfortable time in Suian, even though the stiffness in my hands affected my movements a bit.

After Mom and Dad came back, we played fewer games in Sui'an, and even if we secretly stayed up late at night, it wasn't too late.

Her sleep quality and quality of life improved dramatically.

That feels great.

Chinese New Year is approaching, and You Sui'an has gone back to his hometown with his parents. They are used to celebrating the New Year in the countryside.

The sounds of firecrackers and fireworks were deafening, continuing until late into the night.

The children played with sparklers and firecrackers for a long time, seemingly never getting tired or bored.

Although You Sui'an never wanted to hold it in his hands to play with, even when he was a child and his curiosity was at its peak.

She didn't like the bright, burning sensation as it approached her hand; she was a little afraid her hand would burn, even though she knew it wouldn't.

But she likes watching it. It's very good, isn't it?

Liking something doesn't mean you have to possess it.

By 11:30, the elderly neighbor had already lost their temper and sent their little kid back home.

Their family went back as well.

As You Suian lay in bed, for the first time she felt a sense of anticipation for the message on her phone; she had a premonition.

Sure enough, as soon as it hit midnight, Li Yunxing sent a message.

[Meteor]: Happy New Year, An'an.

You Sui'an smiled. She actually didn't like those long blessings, because they were system-recommended and might even be sent to a group.

A few simple words are enough.

【^o^】: Happy New Year!

【^o^】:Little Star

You Suian thought for a moment and then added a few words. She felt a secret joy, and only she would call him that.

unique.

She felt a little hot, perhaps because the blanket was too thick.

Then she typed blessings to Tang Qingyue and the others.

A message from Li Yunxing popped up.

He posted a photo.

This photo was taken from a very high angle; in the distance are scattered lights, and closer by are bursts of fireworks.

It looks great.

She took photos randomly in Sui'an. She didn't understand angles or composition, but she thought this one was beautiful.

Perhaps it was Li Yunxing who sent it to her.

She liked it very much.

It was as if she could see a different world through the thin screen, through his eyes.

Everyone sees the world differently, which is why the world is so colorful.

She had always wanted to understand him a little better.

It was still cold outside, but warm inside.

Perhaps it's because it's a new year. Everything is coming back to life.

You Sui'an has never paid much attention to festivals; for him, it was just an ordinary day, even though people experienced extreme suffering or joy on this day thousands of years ago.

Time has moved on, and even if it's the same day, it's not the same one from many years ago.

Every day is unique.

But this doesn't mean that her visit to Sui'an was indifferent or meaningless. Of course, she understood the significance behind the festival.

Everyone has their own way of celebrating or remembering. For example, many people eat mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival, but You Sui'an doesn't like to eat them. She just looks at the moon occasionally, perhaps just an ordinary day in a year.

Therefore, what resonates more with visitors to Sui'an is the deeper meaning behind the festivals, rather than a specific time.

She thought that this was the true meaning of the holiday.

She often forgets her own birthday. Perhaps it's because it's based on the lunar calendar, and the date is different every year, so she can't remember it.

All she knew was that she came here seventeen years ago, and everyone here was different, and every day was different.

You Sui'an sometimes felt that she was a bit strange. Everyone was happily celebrating the new year, but she didn't feel much.

Is something wrong with her?

She had always felt that she was strange. But now she wanted to ask Li Yunxing what kind of person she was in his eyes.

[Meteor]: No way! Many people like the first day of the new year, but you don't dislike it either. You like every day, so you don't find it particularly special.

[Meteorite]: [Image of a cat's paw patting its head.]

You Sui'an smiled gently. So that's how it is.

It felt like something had fallen from my heart, as soft as a cloud and as beautiful as a star.

In fact, Li Yunxing had a lot more to say.

You Suian may seem indifferent to many things, but she truly loves and protects many things.

How could a cold-blooded person treat a gently falling leaf with such care, how could they stare blankly at raindrops falling, and how could they not hate those who treat them badly?

She loved the world, the people around her, and everything more than anyone else.

Even when she was tormenting Xiao Chou, she was secretly supporting their relationship.

What kind of revenge is this?

She is really cute.

They all had a good dream tonight.

In my dream, the snow fell gently, and the people in my dream laughed and chatted happily.

Li Yunxing dreamed of traveling to Sui'an. She rarely wore brightly colored or dark-colored clothes.

She was wearing a bright red coat, her face was red from the cold, her fingertips were a little white, but her palms were pink.

She smiled and took his hand; it was icy cold, yet as soft as snow.

She raised a malicious smile, her eyes filled with the joy of a successful scheme.

You Suian spread his hand out and threw a large clump of snow onto his hand with her other hand.

You Suian gripped his fingers tightly, as if afraid he would run away.

The snow has melted. It's cool and refreshing. It feels nice to the touch.

Isn't it cold? Li Yunxing was a little surprised. It hadn't snowed in Province C for a long time, and he couldn't remember what snow felt like.

You Suian stared at him with a smile, seemingly wanting to see him lose his composure, preferably being yelled at by Xue Liang.

Li Yunxing obediently held the snow without throwing it away, but simply stretched her hand forward and, using the snow, grasped You Suian's hand.

You Sui'an seemed to be startled and moved slightly; the snow was too cold.

But she didn't let go; she just looked at him like he was an idiot.

Li Yunxing smiled shyly, as if she had done something wrong and felt a little guilty.

It was just a dream.

Li Yunxing's hands were empty; there was no snow, nor was there her.

The texture felt so real.
