He hasn't awakened the Sharingan.
I didn't take the bloodstained knife.
A gust of wind blew through, lifting Luna's bangs. She caught a faint, damp scent—the smell of the jungle. There was no smell of blood; it wasn't too late.
That was terrifying!
Meeting Itachi in the middle of the night is a test of one's heart.
She quickly calmed down, but the fear of being stabbed was hard to hide. She could only use the darkness as cover, patting her chest and coquettishly saying, "Say something!"
"I'm sorry." Itachi's smile was faint as he patted her head to comfort her.
The two chatted as they walked, but unlike usual, Itachi did most of the talking this time. He saw hope for harmonious coexistence between the Uchiha and Konoha; it turned out that not everyone spoke ill of the Uchiha. As long as things continued this way, there was still hope for the future.
Luna was in low spirits due to her fright, but she still dutifully played the role of a listener. The two walked deeper into the street, where the darkness grew heavier, the boundary between the eaves and the sky became blurred, and the light from the lanterns could only illuminate a few steps. The alley was so dark that some kind of demon might emerge.
The two parted ways at the door. Luna was about to go inside when her hand was pulled in the shadows. She turned around in surprise to see the boy behind her smiling shyly. He quickly let go and walked away.
Luna slammed the courtyard gate shut, a chill running down her spine. She quickly realized why they had been secretly holding hands: the Anbu were monitoring the Uchiha clan closely.
That's terrifying.
They feel at ease living under surveillance.
As an outsider, she was naturally a centrist. Even though she disdained the actions of the Third Hokage and Danzo, she felt no sense of belonging to the Uchiha clan.
But now the situation has changed somewhat, because the original owner's memories flash back from time to time, and she finds herself increasingly disgusted with the higher-ups of Konoha, especially with Itachi Uchiha, and has developed a fear of him and a desire to keep her at a distance.
This is bad; it will make it even harder to portray Uchiha Izumi. She is already quite different from the original owner of this body, so she needs to work on adjusting.
I've done a great job; the first step of the plan was a success.
Don't rush, at least we've fooled Itachi for now.
—A few days later—
A small cake shop has recently opened near the entrance of Konoha Elementary School. Uchiha Hazuki, with Luna resting beside her, is baking cakes during school hours, their irresistible aroma filling the entire street.
Especially a certain honey cake, the sweet aroma that wafts out when it's fresh out of the oven is like an invisible yet overly enthusiastic arm, forcefully pulling everyone who passes by. It seeps into people's noses, sneaks into tightly closed classroom windows, and forcefully stimulates warm saliva production under the tongue, making people involuntarily swallow, then swallow again.
"Honey cake, you can try some." Luna greeted the guests with a smile, and when she saw the group of little kids who had gathered around, she handed them slices of cake.
Wow! (╯▽╰) It smells so good~~
"It's so soft and delicious."
"Small is 75, medium is 150, and large is 300."
"I want a big one." The chubby-cheeked boy took out his money, bought a still-warm cake, and smiled happily as he put it in his mouth.
The cake was incredibly soft, and the rich aroma of eggs and the warm sweetness of honey melted instantly in his mouth, creating a wonderful sensation on his tongue. He ate it with his eyes half-closed, and jumped up and down happily a couple of times.
"I'm done eating." The round-faced boy was a little disappointed. Although the price wasn't expensive, he finished it in no time.
Hazuki and Luna greeted the children with smiles. Luna had rented the shop with two months' salary in advance. Luna hoped that Hazuki would have a base outside so she could frequently trade things.
Luna's patrols over the past few days have taken her to all the shops in Konoha. She's noticed that there are currently many Japanese sweets available, while cake shops, aside from birthday cakes, mostly sell bread that can be stored for a longer time. The variety of cakes is limited, and given the lack of honey-based foods, it should be a hit with elementary school students.
The shop was very popular on its opening day, and sold quite a few pancakes. These were pancakes consigned by the Uchiha's pancake shop, and Hazuki would take a cut, which also gave the cake shop another item to sell.
The reason my uncle and aunt were willing to cooperate was that the Uchiha pancake shop was too remote, and most of the customers were from the clan, so business was not very good.
The first batch sold out, and Hazuki prepared to make the second batch. Luna stretched, loosened her shoulders, and began tidying up the counter. Just then, she heard the sound of utensils falling. Looking up, she saw Kenzaburo Aburame, wearing a trench coat and sunglasses even in the middle of summer.
The two were classmates, but weren't very familiar with each other before. Luna hired him to collect wild honey, which brought them together. This kind of honey was cheaper than buying it directly from the market and was more suitable for the needs of the indebted mother and daughter.
Kenzaburo Aburame put down the two earthenware jars, which still contained bees and tiny wings, and she needed to filter them herself: "This is what's left."
Luna looked at the jar, tasted it, and then settled the balance for him: "If I need anything else, I'll come to you."
"I've already checked the nearby beehives." The implication was that she wouldn't need to find the beehives herself next time.
"Huh? What's the price?" Luna wasn't looking for the beehive, she was just worried about the price going up.
"Still the same." Kenzaburo Aburame pushed up his sunglasses, his tone very flat.
If Luna hadn't practiced perception magic and been extremely adept at sensing other people's emotions, she would have thought the other person was truly expressionless: "Thank you."
"I'm better at dealing with insects." This poses no danger to insect users, so there's no need to charge extra. Also... it took six years of classmates to learn that Uchiha Izumi lost her father at a young age, and to prevent her mother from constantly working hard, she painstakingly opened this cake shop.
Luna was touched by this kindness and smiled as she handed him two cakes, saying, "Try them, they're delicious."
“…Hmm.” Kenzaburo Aburame didn’t refuse; the cake smelled delicious.
As the aroma spread, the second batch quickly attracted customers. Luna looked at the group of children, and recognized a few of them. Little Sasuke, who was shyly peeking in, turned his head away as soon as he saw her face, pretending he hadn't seen anything.
The blonde and pink-haired girls were behind, looking inside while simultaneously glancing at Sasuke without missing a beat.
At the very front was the first chubby boy, Choji Akimichi, who was waving his wallet and saying that he wanted to bring two portions back to his mother today, so he was going to buy three large portions.
"Okay, it'll be ready soon. Two to go, and one to be boxed up and eaten?" Luna took the money and smiled, her eyes crinkling.
"Mmm." The chubby boy nodded happily, his blissful expression endearing.
Luna didn't know about others, but now that she ran a shop, seeing how much her customers enjoyed it, she couldn't resist giving them something. She took out a small bag of spicy strips, a recent collaboration with a tofu shop in the Uchiha clan.
Although this collaboration requires concessions, it saves a lot of effort and costs, making it the best option for a debt-ridden mother and daughter who have no spare time.
"Try it and if you like it, we'll officially sell it."
"So much oil, it smells so good!" Naruto was the first to put it in his mouth, his sky-blue eyes lighting up.
"It's a bit spicy." Shikamaru savored it for a moment, but it wasn't too bad.
"It's a little sweet." Ino felt that the lingering sweetness at the end must have come from sugar.
"Izumi-neechan, I love it so much!" Choji beamed, wishing he could buy it right now.
"Oh, what happened?" Sakura had only taken one bite when she realized there was nothing left to take.
Sasuke tasted one without saying a word, pursing his oily lips, clearly wanting a drink of water.
"Hehe, sorry, this is a prototype."
"Can we sell it tomorrow?"
Seeing that everyone liked it, Luna happily agreed: "We'll have a trial run tomorrow at noon. This small portion will cost about 150."
The aroma quickly filled the air, and the cake coming out of the oven brought a strong sense of happiness. The children, some wanting to try a small slice for free, and others buying some to take home, dispersed in twos and threes.
Sasuke also bought two portions to take home; his mother said she wanted to eat them, and his brother liked them too. Carrying the takeout containers, they happily ran home.
Naruto was the only one left at the shop entrance. He was eating honey cake and staring at the shop.
"What's wrong?" Luna squatted down, looking at the skinny little boy, who was also covered in dirt.
"Sister, do you know Sasuke?" Naruto's cheeks immediately turned red. This beautiful sister didn't look at him like that at all.
Luna recalled a scene from her memory and quoted her many aunts: "Yes, I also have the surname Uchiha. I even held Sasuke when he was little..."
Even though I held the child, the child cried.
Naruto: "..."
These words were difficult for even a child to respond to, and Naruto's silence was deafening.
Luna stared at Naruto and reached out to stroke the little blond boy: "Naruto-kun, right? It's rare to find someone with hair and eye color so similar to the Fourth Hokage. You should cherish it."
"Huh?" Naruto looked up in surprise. Was that the Fourth Hokage?
"My mom is a fan of the Fourth Hokage. Back then, Minato had brilliant blonde hair and those gentle blue eyes, the color of the sky. Plus his signature technique, he earned the nickname 'Yellow Flash,' and he had so many fans," Luna said softly, her tone high and excited.
"Golden Flash? What kind of technique is that?" Naruto was a little excited; he wanted to learn it too.
"What's it called again, the one that flashes?" Luna rested her chin on her hand, tilting her head slightly, as if she couldn't quite remember.
"Pikachu? When the Fourth Hokage appears, he'll flash?" Naruto repeated the word "flash," unable to quite imagine it.
The surveillance team member's lips twitched, and he almost wanted to shout: That's the Flying Thunder God Technique!
"No, that's the Flying Thunder God Technique! It allows for spatial jumps, catching people off guard, which is why it's so powerful!" Hazuki naturally heard this too, glaring at Luna and telling her not to tarnish her idol's reputation.
"Exactly! The Fourth Hokage is the most handsome Hokage in history!" Luna nodded obediently, agreeing wholeheartedly.
"Am I similar to the Fourth Hokage?" Naruto also admired the Fourth Hokage, thanks in part to the Third Hokage.
"You? Probably not." Luna turned to look at him, holding up her fingers to count them: "The Fourth Hokage had good grades, strong abilities, and was also very clean."
Naruto felt a gaze sweep over him, and his expression turned slightly embarrassed and annoyed. So what if his grades were bad and he was all dirty? He'd definitely become even stronger.
"Not only is he handsome, but he's also very gentle. I heard he's good at everything, from formal occasions to domestic chores. Marrying him was the ideal for many women back then." Luna looked at the boy with his head down and patted his head again: "Alright, you're still young. From now on, be clean and study hard. Who knows, you might grow up to be a tenth as handsome as the Fourth Hokage!"
Naruto arrogantly turned his head, tilted his chin up, and breathed heavily through his nostrils: "Hmph, I will definitely become a Hokage even stronger than the Fourth Hokage!"
"Hehe." Ye Yue laughed. This child is so energetic.
"Oh, good luck then. Future Hokage, could you help me take out the trash?" Luna handed him a piece of bread for tasting and gestured towards the overflowing trash can.
"Oh, leave it to me! Goodbye, Izumi-neechan." Naruto opened his mouth, grabbed a slice of bread, chewed it in one bite, and happily took the trash with him.
Luna smiled, her dark eyes lowered, knowing that the news of her contact with the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki today would soon be on the Hokage's desk.
Her words were not inappropriate, and her actions were logical, but what can you do when she's an Uchiha?
