"elder sister."
Xiao He didn't dare let go of Mu Mu's hand for a moment, staying close to her side, and the three of them were taken to the classroom by the teacher.
"You can take off your shoes and go inside to play now."
The teacher spoke in a businesslike tone, treating them not like three-year-olds at all, and went to attend to other matters after saying that.
The three children hadn't yet adjusted to the unfamiliar environment. Standing together, looking at their peers crying and making a fuss not far away, they were all moved by the scene.
As if just realizing what was happening, Cai Cai suddenly became anxious, let go of Mu Mu's hand, and tried to walk out, asking, "Where's Daddy? Where's Mommy? Don't they want us anymore?"
He didn't want to become an unwanted cabbage.
Mumu grabbed him in time, saying, "Don't wander off. Mom and Dad are coming to pick us up this afternoon."
She had absolute trust in Zhong Wan and Chu Qinghuai; in her heart, her parents would never lie to her.
Mumu held one child in each hand, preventing them from wandering off.
Amidst the chaos, the teacher walked over again and noticed that the three children were standing motionless. Her anger immediately flared up: "Why haven't you taken off your shoes yet? You're so disobedient!"
She simply made them sit down on the spot, and then rudely pulled off three pairs of shoes.
Mumu is a germaphobe and didn't want to sit on the dirty ground. Her skirt was already dirty, and the teacher had just thrown her shoes aside, so passersby would inevitably step on them.
She hates it when something she loves is hurt.
You're hurting me.
Feeling annoyed, Mu Mu turned her head and saw Xiao He rubbing her calf angrily. She said this to the teacher, but the teacher just said indifferently, "Oh, I'm sorry." There was no sincerity at all.
After a while, the three of them took off their shoes and sat on small stools with a jumble of toys in front of them. They could play with whatever they wanted, but none of them were interested at the moment.
Xiaohe sat very close to her older sister. She was very angry and said unhappily, "That person hurt me twice! It hurts so much! How could she do that!"
Hearing her voice, Cai Cai interjected, "But she already apologized."
He apologizes to his parents when he makes a mistake, and they forgive him, so he doesn't realize there's anything wrong with it.
"You silly cabbage, she hurt me twice, so she should have apologized twice, but she only said it once."
Xiaohe felt very uncomfortable, but couldn't quite put her finger on why. She attributed it to the teacher not apologizing to her twice.
She pouted and said, "Hmph, I don't care, I don't like her."
Cai Cai picked up the building blocks on the table and said boredly, "Okay, I miss my mom and dad a little."
Mumu whispered, "Me too."
-
"Xiao Wan, why are you so late today? I brought you a pancake over there."
"Thank you, Xiaoyun." Zhong Wan quickly changed her clothes in the dressing room, answering her colleague as she took off her shoes: "I took my child to daycare this morning, so I was a little late."
"You actually sent it? Which family? How could you bear to part with it? Your youngest child isn't even three years old yet." Xiaoyun looked surprised.
"There's no other way. Chu Qinghuai and I both have to work, and there's no one to take care of them." She would like to spend every day eating, drinking, and playing with the children, but that's not realistic. "There's a daycare center next to the community. It's 65 yuan a day per child, which seems reasonable. I also chose it because it's close to home."
My colleague saw photos of the three children on Zhong Wan's phone a couple of days ago. They were so cute, like little dolls. If it were her, she definitely wouldn't be willing to send such young children to daycare. They can't even speak properly yet, and she wouldn't even know if they were bullied.
"Neither of your parents nor your husband's parents are helping you take care of your child anymore? Really." She felt indignant on Zhong Wan's behalf.
Zhong Wan nodded, afraid that saying too much would give her away.
Most of the people around her have their parents to help them, but she can only rely on herself. Zhong Wan had long accepted this fact.
With some time before work, she sat in a chair eating a pancake brought by a colleague, chatting casually with her.
"Can parents view the surveillance footage at your daycare center?" the other person asked.
"Huh? I don't know." Zhong Wan had no concept of surveillance or anything like that.
Will the teacher post videos of the children in the group chat?
Not yet.
"Our kindergarten will open up surveillance access during certain time periods, because there are quite a few cases of children being bullied these days, and it also puts parents at ease," she explained.
Hearing her colleague say this, Zhong Wan had a vague bad feeling; she hadn't considered this possibility at all.
But before she could think about it, guests arrived outside, and she hurriedly went to work.

Each classroom in the nursery is large enough to accommodate twenty children, but there are only three teachers, so they simply cannot take care of so many children.
When Zhong Wan and Chu Qinghuai were inspecting the place, they only considered the advantage of it being close to home. They lacked experience and did not expect that their own child might not be able to be taken care of carefully.
Fortunately, the three children are quite smart; they know to tell the teacher when they need to go to the toilet and to take water from their little backpacks when they are thirsty.
Their upbringing differed from that of human infants, resulting in many different habits and personalities, which made them seem out of place. The three of them spent the entire morning sitting at a small table in the corner, talking and playing with toys to pass the time.
Lunchtime arrived quickly, and the food at the daycare was quite good; almost all the money paid went towards this lunch.
Today's meal consisted of braised beef brisket with tomatoes, two small chicken wings, stir-fried water spinach, and winter melon and dried shrimp soup. After the meal, there was cantaloupe and small fruits. Theoretically, you can have refills of rice and dishes after you finish eating.
Mumu, Caicai, and Xiaohe had already put on their lunch bags and were sitting in a row waiting for the teacher to distribute their meals. This was the happiest moment for them so far.
The classroom was filled with the aroma of food.
Mumu didn't forget the task her parents had given her: to make sure her younger siblings ate properly.
So at this moment, little Mumu, with her hands on her hips, said seriously to Caicai, "You must eat the vegetables before you can eat the meat."
She then turned to Xiaohe and said, "You can't touch it with your hands, it's not clean!"
Cai Cai forgot whether she should hold the spoon with her left or right hand. Hearing her sister's words, she turned her head and obediently nodded, "Okay."
He listened to Mu Mu. He finished the vegetables in the compartment before starting on the rest of the meat. Cai Cai couldn't stop drooling, swallowing hard, her mouth greasy, her eyes unwilling to leave the plate for even a second.
Cai Cai wants to eat, and Cai Cai gets it.
Chu Qinghuai has spoiled their palates. Although the lunches here are not as delicious as those made by Chu Qinghuai, they are definitely healthy and nutritious. After taking a bite of meat, Cai Cai commented like a little adult, "It's not as delicious as Dad's."
"I want to eat Dad's cooking too." Xiao He held chicken wings in both hands, chewing them slowly, taking a long time to swallow each bite. She was a slow eater to begin with, let alone now that she wasn't getting the food she wanted.
However, since their parents had said they shouldn't waste food, the three of them still obediently finished their meal.
Compared to some children in the class who still need to be fed by the teacher, the three babies are really well-behaved by their parents. They don't make a fuss, eat on their own, and Cai Cai even feels that there isn't enough to eat.
He's small in stature, but he has a big appetite. His face has gotten a bit rounder these past few days, and he looks like a glutinous rice ball with fair skin.
After finishing her first meal, Cai Cai said to her older and younger sisters, "Cai Cai isn't full yet, Cai Cai wants more."
Mumu had already finished eating and was resting. Hearing Caicai's words, she went over to check and found that she had indeed finished eating. She said with satisfaction, "You can go ask the teacher for more."
"good."
He carried the tray in both hands, found the food station, and looked up to express his needs: "Cai Cai wants to eat."
Cai Cai tilted her head, thought for a moment, and added, "Thank you."
His mother taught him that he should say thank you when asking someone for something.
"Sure, the teacher can hit me again."
The teacher serving the food was very gentle. She put rice in his bowl and gave him a chicken wing and some beef brisket.
She didn't dare give the child too much, fearing it would be difficult for him to digest, as he was about to take a nap.
Cai Cai was very satisfied. He happily carried the plate back to his seat after receiving his second meal. However, because he was focused on the rice, he did not notice the child rushing over next to him. Suddenly, with a "bang," the shaky plate was knocked to the ground, and the food spilled all over the floor.
This was something Cai Cai hadn't expected. For a moment, he stood there helplessly, while the "culprit" child had already disappeared without a trace, probably running off to play somewhere else.
The bespectacled teacher who had just finished feeding the child happened to pass by and saw this scene. The image of the naughty little boy dumping his food on the floor automatically flashed through her mind. She immediately flew into a rage and yelled at Cai Cai, "Why are you so disobedient! Why did you dump your food on the floor? Is it fun?"
She'd been so busy she hadn't eaten a single bite, and she was in a bad mood. Seeing Cai Cai silent only fueled her anger. "Can't you learn from your sister? She eats so well, why can't you? Didn't your parents teach you that?"
Cai Cai was terrified and didn't dare to move, not knowing how to explain the situation.
Every word the teacher uttered felt like a blow to his head. He seemed to understand, but not quite. Had he done something wrong? Should he apologize? But why did he feel sad? Like when the kitten bullied him.
The little green vegetable knew nothing.
The bespectacled teacher had a stern expression and a rather unpleasant tone: "Since you don't want to eat, then don't eat. Go stand against the wall for a while."
Cai Cai was too young to know that this was a punishment. He could only nod, obey the teacher's instructions, and walk to the wall to stand, hoping that no one would be angry because of him.
The child was wearing a bib and a diaper, and his vision was becoming increasingly blurry as tears blurred his eyes.
"Cai Cai, why are you standing here?"
Mumu didn't see her younger brother being "educated" by the teacher. She was wiping Xiaohe's mouth when she realized Caicai hadn't returned. She even saw him standing motionless by the wall.
"I don't know either."
Little Green Vegetable's eyes were red, and there was still sauce from the food around her mouth. Her little face was dirty, and she looked very aggrieved.
"Who sent you?"
"Teacher, she said I have to stand here."
Mumu touched her hair, unsure of what had happened, so she simply stood there with Caicai and asked, "Where's your food?"
"It fell to the ground."
Cai Cai was even more upset because she hadn't eaten enough.
Mumu thought he had accidentally spilled the food on the ground, and not knowing how to deal with it, she decided to tell her parents.
