Chapter 35 When it rains, it pours

The ticking sound gradually became louder.

"Mom, look at that." Sanwa screamed, and everyone looked in the direction of Sanwa's hand.

It turned out that there was a leak in a corner of the house where Xia Manni and Sinier lived.

Hearing the sound of leaking rain getting louder and louder and seeing the raindrops getting bigger and bigger, she secretly said that something was wrong.

"Quick, take everything out of this room."

Xia Manni said anxiously to the children. This was the first time they saw their mother so anxious.

The children didn't have time to think about why, and they quickly started moving to the outer room and the room where the eldest child and his family lived.

By the time we had moved everything in the house, the raindrops in the corners didn't seem to get any bigger, but the rainfall was even heavier than outside.

This really proves the old saying, when it rains, it pours.

Fortunately, they moved in time, and now half of the wall in the room is soaked.

But the house where Da Wa and his family live is pretty good, with no leaks.

For a moment, they lost the mood to study, and several children went to the leaky house from time to time to check the situation.

The pots placed at the foot of the wall were being dumped out one by one by them. What made people less optimistic was that the wind outside was gradually getting stronger.

"Mom, why is it raining harder inside our house than outside?"

The whole family and all kinds of miscellaneous items crowded together in the room of Da Wa and his family, but no one felt cold.

"Speaking of this, Mom suddenly remembered a joke I heard before."

"What jokes are you telling, Mom? Sanwa wants to hear them." Sanwa loves listening to stories the most, especially Xia Manni who always tells jokes that they have never heard before.

"The joke goes like this: if it's light rain outside, it's moderate rain inside; if it's moderate rain outside, it's heavy rain inside."

After hearing what Xia Manni said, several children couldn't help but laugh.

The tense atmosphere caused by the leaking rain in the house was relieved a lot now, and even the howling of the wind outside was no longer so scary.

"Mom, why?" asked the eldest son in confusion.

"Why? Mom understands it this way. The rainwater that collected on our roof should have flowed down the eaves, but because there's a leak here, the water that was previously accumulated has flowed here."

After hearing what Xia Manni said, the children all understood.

"So, in the future, when we find loopholes or problems, we must solve them in a timely manner. Otherwise, all the problems will explode." When she had nothing to do, Xia Manni took the opportunity to preach to the children.

"I understand, mother. Otherwise, it will be heavier than the rain outside." Sanwa's childish voice sounded again.

"Haha, yes, Sanwa is awesome..."

"Boom..."

Before Xia Manni could finish her words, she heard a loud rumbling sound outside. Then there was a huge shaking sound. The strong shaking made Xia Manni wonder if there was an earthquake outside.

"Mom, what's going on outside?" asked the eldest son.

"It must be that the houses in the village were not strong enough and were blown down by the strong wind and heavy rain." Xia Manni's face looked a little bad. This was also what she had been worried about.

When the children heard this, they also became worried.

I don’t know how many years this house is. If it is the same as the houses outside, it would be so unlucky.

Xia Manni can only hope that the house just has a leak in the roof.

She went back to check on the leaky house and stopped asking the children to pour out the water. She thought, let it leak, it's still dangerous under the wall, and life is more important.

The sky outside was very gloomy and I couldn't tell what time it was.

The firewood was damp, so Xia Manni only made simple noodles for the children. It would take an hour just to light the firewood for such a simple meal, and if you didn't have that kind of patience, there would be no food at home.

Later, Xia Manni simply gave up and forbade anyone to go into the leaking room.

She even told her children that if they heard anything collapsing in their house, they should jump out of the window.

"Don't be afraid. I always feel that my life will not be so short, and so do you." Xia Manni said gently as she looked at the children who were not sleeping with their eyes open.

"Mom, is everything okay at home?" Sanwa couldn't help but ask. Every time he wanted to ask, Dawa would stop him.

"Of course there is something wrong, but it's not a big deal. Once the storm stops, Mom will find someone to fix our roof and replace the bed in that room."

“Gurgle gurgle…”

"Mom, I'm a little hungry." Erwa said embarrassedly, holding his rumbling stomach.

"Big kid, where did we put the dried sweet potatoes we dried last time? Let's take them out and share them with you." We had originally planned to give those to the children as sweet treats in the winter when there was little to eat, but now it seemed there was no need to wait until then.

However, after their mountain products were dried, it was the eldest son who decided where to put them, and she never asked about it.

The eldest child nodded and prepared to go get it. However, the cupboard that used to be just a few steps away was now extremely difficult to reach, as the floor and bed were piled with things.

"Big Boy, please bring the chestnuts as well." Xia Manni shouted loudly in the house. The rain and wind outside were so loud that they had to shout to talk at such a close distance.

They had eaten all the pancakes when it rained on the first day. After eating noodles at noon, they had no dry firewood to light the fire, so they could only rely on these mountain products to fill their stomachs.

Da Wa brought all the edible mountain products and gave them to Xia Manni.
