Chapter 6 The Four Children of the Xia Family

Xia Manni was struggling over whether to steam, bake or boil the food.

If you cook it, some of the sugar will be lost.

Roasting the sweet potatoes not only tests your technique, but also shrinks the size of the potatoes.

After much hesitation, she decided to steam the sweet potatoes to ensure their maximum volume.

After living for more than 20 years, Xia Manni never imagined that one day she would have to brainstorm for a long time on how to cook a sweet potato to ensure that she eats the most.

After all, according to scientific theory, the energy absorbed into the body in these three ways should be equal.

There will just be a visual difference.

"I may not eat it, but my brother and sister have to eat it." The eldest boy saw Xia Manni staring at the sweet potato for a long time without putting it into the pot. He thought she felt that the portion was too small, so he sensibly gave up his.

In fact, he was not sensible. He was still a little afraid of Xia Manni. After all, someone who could pick up a knife and chop people was not an ordinary person.

In addition to fear, there was a small voice deep in his heart that still hoped Xia Manni would stay.

But Xia Manni said to talk about it after dinner, so he tried to act more sensible.

If he were alone, he wouldn't think about these things. But he has three younger brothers and sisters. If he doesn't find a solution, will they really have to beg for food?

At least Xia Manni is capable of taking on responsibilities. With an adult at home, life will definitely be better for the four of them.

Xia Manni glanced at Da Wa and said, "If you don't eat, do you think you are an iron man? Why don't you go get some matches?"

When dealing with such sensitive children, Xia Manni always treats them as normal people.

That is to say, don't beat around the bush, but give it directly.

Big Brother didn't expect to receive such a complaint, but for some reason he became happy because of it.

Big Brother hummed as a response and ran to get some firewood.

The second child beside him said hesitantly, "Well... uh... what can I do?"

Xia Manni guessed that perhaps the eldest boy had specifically told them not to call her mother, otherwise why would he always mumble and not call her mother every time they talked to him.

"You? How old are you?" She looked at the second child and felt that the child's physique was almost catching up with the eldest child's and was hungry.

Hearing this question, Erwa was stunned for a moment. Then he answered honestly, "Four years old."

Only four years old? Living in such conditions, to be this tall at the age of four, this child must have good physical fitness.

At least the boss is strong.

"Then please help me scoop the water." Xia Manni said, pointing to the water tank beside her.

Xia Manni could finish this kind of work quickly by herself, but she could clearly feel that the children in the room were a little uneasy, so she asked them to join in.

Only when you feel that you are a valuable person will you not feel panic and anxiety.

After arranging the tasks for the eldest and second child, Xia Manni squatted down and looked at the boy and girl sitting on the chairs.

Upon closer inspection, the boy and girl actually have many similarities.

It's just that boys seem to smile more, while girls don't. They don't even like to look at people, they just play by themselves.

She first said to the boy, "How old are you?"

"Two years old, Auntie, you were really amazing just now. You were able to pick up a kitchen knife, even better than my big brother..."

He was only two years old, and he certainly didn't look three, but he was incredibly articulate. She had only asked one question, but he kept talking non-stop.

And the boy is the only one among the four children who calls her aunt.

"Then is the person next to you your sister or your younger sister?" Xia Manni tried to talk to the girl many times, but the girl just didn't look up.

The girl kept fiddling with the straw in her hand.

"She's my sister. My eldest brother said we're twins, a boy and a girl. Did you know she's two years old?"

Two-year-olds are indeed innocent. It may also be that they are more sensitive to language. Why does this third child talk so much?

Could he be a little chatterbox?

"Sanwa, can you tell your aunt where our tinderbox and oil lamp are?" The room was so dark that she could hardly see anything. She had to light up the room quickly.

"Tinder? Oil lamp? Auntie, don't you know where to put it?" The chatterbox asked her back.

I don't know whether the chatterbox did it intentionally or unintentionally, but it seems like all his cleverness just now is gone.

But then she thought, how smart could a two-year-old child be?

Later she realized that the kids were just as cunning.

"Yes, auntie doesn't know..." Xia Manni said patiently, and the girl next to her actually stood up.

Then he grabbed Xia Manni's pants and pulled her into the house.

Xia Manni let Siwa lead the way, she was just a little curious why Siwa didn't hold her hand.

He walked to a cabinet and stopped. It looked like a cupboard.

"Take it." The fourth kid below pulled her pants again and said a word.

The sound was so short that she suspected she had heard it wrongly.

She tentatively put her hand into the cupboard, felt around and seemed to touch a small round tube, and then she touched a tall oil lamp stand.

She was sure that these were the oil lamp and tinder she was looking for.

Although she had never seen real tinderboxes and oil lamps, they were shown in TV dramas, so it was not difficult to guess what they were.

"Thank you, Siwa, you..." Before she finished thanking him, Siwa walked away slowly on his own.
