Chapter 10 Picking

Chapter 10 Picking

Teacher Ren took off the ring on her ring finger.

It was discovered by the students in the class at first.

They happened to be talking about it during a break between classes, and a passing teacher overheard them.

"Is Teacher Ren divorced?"

No, I don't think so.

"Recently, Teacher Ren was often absent-minded."

Now that you mention it…

"That being said, we've never met her husband."

"Maybe he's just too busy with work."

"It doesn't seem right for us to talk about other people's private affairs behind their backs like this..."

...

Ruan Mianmian also noticed.

She only comes to stay with Yunyun very late these days, and leaves again shortly after coaxing her to sleep.

The two of them tacitly acted as if nothing was wrong in front of their daughter, so as to put her at ease.

Finally, one day, after Yunyun fell asleep, she couldn't help but ask Renyi—

Why aren't you wearing a ring?

She regretted it as soon as the words left her mouth; she had no right or reason to ask Renyi.

"I don't want to wear it," Ren Yi replied casually.

"Oh...the new necklace is very pretty." Ruan Mianmian said casually, though she was a little disappointed.

"Thank you." He casually touched the pendant through his clothes, his feelings a mix of emotions.

The truth is, last week, Ren Yi accompanied Ren Yunyou to go swimming and accidentally bumped her finger by the poolside, causing it to swell. So she simply took off her ring.

This was just a small episode in her busy life.

But more than that, it was the students in her class that bothered her.

As they approach junior high school, children become more independent and sometimes get stuck on trivial matters or take detours.

Many parents are complaining to Teacher Ren that their daughters and sons have become more talkative and disobedient, and they need Teacher Ren to discipline them more.

"The children are about to enter adolescence, and it is normal for them to have these emotions. Parents should communicate with them more, understand their inner thoughts, and be more patient."

"Of course, as a teacher, I will also pay close attention to the children's physical and mental health while imparting knowledge to them."

After talking to parents until her throat was dry, she wanted to rest after get off work, only to be told that the student who hadn't come home on time last time was missing again.

"How about Mom takes you to Grandma's first? Mom will come pick you up later."

"Okay." Ren Yunyou was very sensible. "Mom, remember to eat dinner."

"Mom will definitely eat on time, thank you Yunyun."

After searching from dusk till late at night, Ren Yi finally found him in an arcade.

Before Renyi could say anything more, his father thanked him briefly, grabbed his ear, and took the child away.

I'm so hungry.

I casually walked out of the arcade, stretched, and noticed a barbecue restaurant not far away.

You can also bake some for Yunyun to take home as a late-night snack.

She picked out her dishes and sat on a plastic stool outside the shop to wait. She heard a faint commotion behind her, which grew closer and closer. Suddenly, a young girl came over and hugged her.

"Mother!"

"Mom?" Ran Yi was puzzled. Then several more people walked up to her, looking at the two of them with smiles.

"Are you her mother?"

"What is it?" Ren Yi's face darkened.

"It's nothing, I just wanted to get your daughter's contact information."

"No, get out."

Those people were still trying to be shameless when the owner happened to be putting fresh ingredients into the freezer, giving them a disapproving look.

"If you want to eat, come in and get your food. If you don't want to eat, don't block the way and delay my business." She held a large bunch of skewers for beef, and the muscles in her arms were particularly well-defined.

The group gave up and left soon after.

“They’ve already left.” He patted her on the back.

She looked up and saw the person who had called Ruan Mianmian "Sister Mianmian" that night.

"Thank you, Mom," Qiao Jianing still called her.

I simply couldn't be bothered with her.

"It's grilled for you. I just heard you talking to a child, so I gave you two skewers of small steamed buns." The owner handed her the packaged barbecue.

"Thank you, boss."

He took it casually, then stood up to leave.

"Hey, Mom, you're leaving." Qiao Jianing continued to call out to her shamelessly, following behind her.

"Mom, don't be so cruel! Someone was bothering me just now!" Qiao Jianing tugged at her sleeve. "Are you really willing to do that?"

"Willing to give up something."

"You're so boring." Qiao Jianing rolled her eyes at her and withdrew her hand.

"Next time you can ask your sister Mianmian to protect you. I'm not very good at dealing with people like you."

"Wait a minute, what kind of person am I?" Qiao Jianing pointed at herself, speechless.

He ignored her and walked towards the roadside to hail a taxi home.

"And another thing, what do you mean by asking Sister Mianmian to protect me? You're not being clear..."

“I saw you two being very close that day.”

Qiao Jianing saw her expression and burst into laughter.

"Ruan Mianmian is my aunt, you don't think we..."

"No." He interrupted her arbitrarily.

Fortunately, it was dark here, and no one could see her red ears.

“She’s my dad’s sister. I usually call her Auntie, but it feels weird to call her that when we’re out having fun.”

"These things have nothing to do with me."

"How heartless." Qiao Jianing followed Ren Yi relentlessly, muttering seemingly casually behind her.

"I wanted to ask her out tonight, but she declined."

"I found her the place; it's a bit old, but the rent is reasonable."

"I don't know if my dad went to see her today. My dad is a shameless person. He doesn't go to work and all he does is ask for money."

"Actually, it's probably a little better when my aunt comes out with me. There are a lot of people, and those people can't find the place..."

"What do you mean?" Renyi turned to look at her.

"I promised my aunt I'd keep it a secret. You can ask her yourself." Qiao Jianing looked away, avoiding eye contact.

Hasn't Ruan Mianmian found the life she wanted?

According to Qiao Jianing, it seems that it's not at all what Ruan Mianmian said.

She quickened her pace, eager to find out what had happened.

"Wait a minute, Mom, don't go. Help me get a taxi; I've run out of living expenses."
