Chapter 15, Part 15

Chapter 15, Part 15

I woke up groggily.

It was pitch black all around.

It's so hot and humid.

You can smell the scent of rainwater soaking in the soil.

She tried to move her hands, but found that her movements were restricted by the chains.

Fortunately, his legs can still move freely.

"She wouldn't be lying to us, would she, brother..."

The sound came from the other side of the wall. Move slowly over there to hear it more clearly.

“No, she grew up with this woman. She will definitely pay the ransom.” The man raised his glass and toasted with the other three. “Come on, let’s celebrate that I’m finally out. With this money, we brothers can do business together.”

"Congratulations, brother..."

"Congratulations, Uncle..." the slightly younger middle-aged man hesitated before speaking, "Thank you for your help with Xiaoli's matter as well."

"I guarantee there won't be any problems. I know a guy in there who does this kind of thing. Once we get the money, I'll take Xiaoli to see him."

"Alright, alright, I'll toast Uncle again."

Did they lock her up?

He groped around the room, using the light filtering through the crack in the door.

The walls were all old cement walls, and a large piece of plaster would fall off if you touched them. There was a window directly opposite the door, but it had been covered by stainless steel mesh.

It was still pitch black outside, with only a few scattered lights visible in the distance.

"You need more photos? That's too much trouble." One of the people outside muttered, took out his key, unlocked the door, and came in.

Renyi has returned to his original position and is pretending to still be unconscious.

The man took someone else's phone, opened the clock, and took a picture of it along with Renyi's.

After the group locked the door again, Renyi tried once more to break free of the iron chains on his wrists, but to no avail.

She gathered her strength to stand up, only to find that her neck felt empty.

They took the necklace.

"Meow." A cat's meow came from outside the window. Renyi looked down and saw a tabby cat's eyes shining in the darkness.

In her line of sight, there were also a few loose screws.

He jumped up at will, sat by the window, leaned back, and tried to reach the screw with his hands.

I touched it!

She tried to steady her breathing and slowly turned the screw with her fingertips.

The small metal part fell to the ground, and the kitten bounced away and ran off.

There was another noise outside the door, and Ren Yi hurriedly sat back down and closed his eyes tightly.

It seemed that some of the men were leaving and were giving instructions to the one who was staying behind.

After those people left, the person who remained opened the door, brandished a small knife, and walked straight toward her.

"Mommy!" Ren Yunyou woke up after a nap and saw Ruan Mianmian. She waved her little hand and ran to her mother's side.

"Yunyun." Ruan Mianmian was talking to Lao Wang when she heard the voice. She turned around and saw Yunyun, as well as Ren Yanyu who was anxiously coming over. "Xiaoyu is here too."

Ren Yanyu nodded slightly and immediately asked Lao Wang about the current situation.

"Hello, this is Renyi's sister. How are you doing?"

Old Wang shook his head; there were still no clues.

Fifteen hours have passed.

Ruan Mianmian has prepared the money as requested by the other party. As long as Ren Yi can return safely, she can meet any of their conditions.

Li Xuanyin walked to a place away from the crowd, took out a talisman, and soon several kittens gathered around.

She placed her cool palms on the kittens' furry heads.

"Go."

She put on sunglasses to cover her pupils, which glowed due to empathic light, and joined the crowd.

"Is this lady wearing sunglasses at night? Can you see her clearly?" a colleague asked casually as he passed by.

"Her eyes are sensitive to light," Ren Yanyu said, trying to cover for her.

The scents here are much simpler than in human-inhabited cities, so it's not difficult to distinguish any scent from any other. One of the little tabby cats quickly found the place where the group of people were hiding.

The tabby cat meowed, attracting the attention of the people inside.

“Found it.” She tugged at Ren Yanyu’s sleeve.

"Then let me tell you first..."

"It's too late." Li Xuanyin frowned slightly and walked into the darkness.

Ren Yanyu couldn't stop her, and after thinking it over, she pulled Ruan Mianmian along and followed Li Xuanyin.

Seeing that they had all left, Yunyun took her mother's hand and left with them.

"Where to go now?" It was pitch black here, and Ruan Mianmian couldn't find her way.

A gust of air swept over, and suddenly an old house with lights on could be seen from twenty meters away.

“Right here.” Li Xuanyin walked in front, listening carefully to the sounds around her.

"Mianmian, you stay here and contact Lao Wang. I'll go in with her and take a look first."

Ruan Mianmian handed her the phone and walked past Ren Yanyu.

"I'm with her, please take good care of Yunyun."

A slight fishy smell filled the air.

The sounds of fighting could be heard coming from inside the house.

The man wanted to cut off any finger to remove the ring.

No way.

As he squatted down, Renyi kicked him in the stomach and ran towards the door.

The main gate was also locked.

The man chased after them and pressed Renyi against the door.

"Run... I'll let you run!" He roared like a bloodthirsty monster, opening his blood-red maw, raising the sharp weapon in his hand to stab at the prey's vulnerable neck.

She struggled free with all her might, but the knife only cut her arm.

But the glasses weren't so lucky; after their violent struggle, they fell into a corner.

The man lunged at him again, but Ren Yi kicked him away once more.

Fortunately, she had also been exercising for a long time recently in order to accompany Yunyun.

It can still hold on.

She casually raised her head, wiping away the sweat that was about to drip into her eyes, and waited for the man's next attack.

At that moment, Li Xuanyin broke the lock and the force of the push knocked the man unconscious against the wall behind the door.

The chains on Renyi's wrists also opened by themselves and fell to the ground.

"Ayi!" Ruan Mianmian rushed in hurriedly.

Ren Yanyu led Ren Yunyou closely behind.

As if she hadn't seen them, she walked past everyone and grabbed the man by the collar.

"Do you know how hard she works?" Renyi clenched his fist.

"It's because of you that she can't get into the police academy..."

"She's more outstanding than so many people, but she'll never pass the political background check because of you..."

"Because of you, she is isolated and talked about behind her back... and now you want to suck her blood dry!"

She slammed it down hard.

The sharp edge of the diamond ring sliced through the man's skin, and a foul-smelling liquid dripped between his fingers, yet Ren Yi did not stop.

She raised her arm again and swung her fist with all her might.

He was clearly her father, but in the end, he treated Ruan Mianmian worse than he treated his brother's child.

Countless times I've seen him boast to outsiders about how much he loves his daughter, but in reality he just gives Ruan Mianmian a little more pocket money and leaves her to fend for herself.

He never fulfilled his responsibilities as a father, and only remembered that he had a daughter to leech off when he needed help.

This is the scum of society.

"Why didn't you die in prison?" Ren Yi heard himself say such vicious words clearly, but he didn't feel a trace of remorse.

Li Xuanyin covered Ren Yunyou's eyes and ears, preventing her from hearing a single word.

Footsteps came from outside; it was Old Wang arriving with his men.

"Ayi."

Ruan Mianmian pulled Renyi's hand, making her face her.

"Look at me, I'm still here perfectly fine."

Why did they treat Mianmian like that?

She had tried so hard to escape this home, but they still wouldn't let her go.

Mianmian was also someone she deeply loved.

"Your love is enough for me. I don't need his love. He doesn't deserve it," Ruan Mianmian whispered to her again.

Listen to her voice and pull yourself out of your rage.

Seeing that she had relaxed, Ruan Mianmian took out a clean disinfectant wipe and carefully wiped the back of her blood-stained hand.

The sensation of alcohol evaporating on the wound is so painful.

She sobbed softly, looking down to see her injuries, but her tears fell onto the wounds.

"It's alright." Ruan Mianmian gently wiped away the tears on her face with her soft fingertips and put on her glasses, which had been cleaned again.

Renyi stepped forward and tightly embraced Ruan Mianmian's waist, finally bursting into tears on this sweltering summer night.

“I’m fine,” Ruan Mianmian kissed her ear, “and you’re fine too.”
