Chapter 25 Extra Chapter 3 / My Dear You

Ren Yi has a younger sister named Ren Yanyu.

Ren Yanyu has an older sister named Ren Yi.

They are four years apart in age.

The reason she's called "Random" is because her parents hope she can grow up freely and live a carefree life.

Ren Yanyu's name is taken from "Yanyu" in Su Shi's poem "Ding Feng Bo". With a well-behaved eldest daughter, they had fewer expectations for their youngest daughter. No matter what the weather was like outside, they hoped that she could still enjoy her own little world.

The two sisters looked somewhat alike when they were young, but they became more and more different as they grew up.

Ren Yi was always two or three centimeters taller than Ren Yanyu.

The younger sister, who never admits defeat, always secretly wears shoes with higher heels when she sees her older sister.

But for some reason, her older sister was still taller than her.

When Ren Yanyu was little, she loved to follow Ren Yi around and do whatever her older sister did.

"Sister, sister, what are you eating? I want to eat too."

"Sister, sister, what are you looking at? I want to see too."

"Sister, sister..."

He would share half of his snacks and books with her, and even put an extra pillow on the bed so his younger sister could come over and sleep next to him in the middle of the night.

So much so that when other children were in kindergarten, they cried and said they missed their mothers, fathers, grandparents, and so on, but Ren Yanyu cried and made a fuss, wanting her sister to come back with her to go to kindergarten.

"Then study hard and catch up with your sister, okay?" her mother coaxed her.

However, after Ren Yanyu made new friends at kindergarten, she forgot about the matter.

When she started elementary school, she repeated her mistakes, saying she wanted to go back to kindergarten to find her kindergarten friends. Even telling her that she and her sister were going to the same elementary school didn't work.

"Cry, but you still have to go to school. Mom won't come to pick you up." He took her hand and led her to school.

"I hate you, sister!" Her inner thoughts were exposed, and Ren Yanyu shook off her hand, saying through gritted teeth.

"Do you hate me or do you still want to go to school?" He caught up with her and tightened his grip on her hand again.

Ren Yanyu, a first-grader, was dragged into school by Ren Yi, a fifth-grader, and she sulked.

Even after school, she still held a grudge and refused to walk with her sister, insisting on falling two steps behind.

Renyi held the money his mother gave him and bought two braised chicken legs, one for himself and one for his sister.

Ren Yanyu accepted it with a sour face.

Before she had finished eating, a large yellow dog darted out from the roadside and blocked Ren Yanyu's way.

"Waaaaah—" Ren Yanyu dropped the chicken leg in her hand in fright and ran behind Ren Yi crying.

"Woof." The dog turned its head and bared its teeth at Ren Yi.

He arbitrarily took off his schoolbag and pretended to smash it, then shouted at him to back away.

"I haven't eaten my chicken leg yet, you can have it." She gave her chicken leg to her younger sister and held her hand.

Ren Yanyu didn't shake her off anymore. She obediently followed her sister to the bus stop before she dared to cry.

When she recalled this incident as an adult, she summarized it as follows:

When she was six years old, a dog tried to steal her chicken leg after school. Her older sister barked like a dog and scared it away.

This little sister is getting less and less cute as she grows up.

She's become less clingy to her older sister than before.

After Ren Yanyu entered junior high school, she always went to school with her classmates.

Watching her leave, Ren Yi felt a little lost.

"Ayi, are you going to be late for morning self-study?" Ruan Mianmian, who lived next door, appeared in front of her house, her schoolbag strap twisting around her shoulder again and again.

"Okay, let's go." Ren Yi straightened her clothes. "It's just right now."

Ruan Mianmian can also be considered Ren Yanyu's older sister.

She lived next door to them and often took Ren Yanyu out shopping, always bringing back lots of snacks.

Going out with Mianmian is more fun than going out with her own sister, Ren Yanyu silently added a weight to the scales in her heart for Ruan Mianmian.

"When Mom and Dad aren't home, just listen to your sister." On weekends, Mom and Dad would sometimes be away from home for work, and before leaving, they would always leave Ren Yanyu with these words.

"When did it become my turn to listen to you, sister?" Ren Yanyu muttered.

Renyi always made sure she finished her homework before she could watch TV, and he would even stay by her desk.

Aren't you going to do your homework?

"I finished writing a long time ago." Sitting on the bay window, Renyi turned to the next page of the novel without even bothering to lift his head.

As the two children grew up, they made their own friends and had different interests, but they still returned to the same house every night and bickered about who would use the bathroom first.

Ren Yi cares a lot about her younger sister, and Ren Yanyu cares a lot about her older sister.

They just changed their way of interacting.

In high school, I casually told her that someone had played a prank on her and dirtied her skirt and books.

Ren Yanyu pretended not to care and responded twice. The next day, during a break between classes, she went straight to Ren Yi's class to find him.

"Who spilled ink on Ren Yishu yesterday?" Ren Yanyu asked loudly from the podium.

The classroom fell silent for a moment, and then a girl pointed at the culprit.

Ren Yanyu walked over unhurriedly and poured the entire bottle of ink over the man's head.

By the time Ruan Mianmian from the next class heard the noise, Ren Yanyu had already been overpowered and pinned to the ground.

"Stop hitting him!" She pushed the man away and pulled Ren Yanyu up from the ground.

"If you cause me any more trouble, I'll come back for you!" Before leaving, Ren Yanyu took out a bottle of red ink from somewhere and poured it all into the man's bag.

You splashed one bottle on my sister, I splashed two bottles on you, I won.

Ren Yanyu straightened up and walked out of the classroom.

Afterwards, Ren Yanyu and the person who played the prank were both severely criticized by the teacher. Since both of them were injured, neither of their parents pursued the matter further.

However, there's no escaping the fate of being scolded by mom and dad when I get home.

"Does it hurt?" After she finished showering, Ren Yi was already waiting in her bedroom with a first-aid kit to apply medicine to her.

"It doesn't hurt."

Despite Ren Yi's repeated advice to speak up if it hurt, Ren Yanyu held back until she could no longer bear it before finally making a sound.

"Then let's wait a while before wiping it." Renyi put down the cotton swab and looked at his sister in silence.

"Can you please stop being so submissive?" Ren Yanyu lowered her eyes.

“If they bully you, just fight back. You can also tell the teacher… Why should you let yourself suffer like this?”

She grew angrier the more she talked, and tears welled up in her eyes again, something she hadn't done in a long time.

For a moment, Ren Yi panicked and hurriedly wiped away the tears on her face with gauze to prevent the liquid from flowing onto the wound.

“Because I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it,” Renyi bent down to look at her, “but I’m very happy that you stood up for me.”

"I made things clear with the teacher today, and I will not let anyone bully me in the future."

"Sister was wrong, okay?"

After the little incident, Ren Yi and Ruan Mianmian were admitted to university, and Ren Yanyu suddenly lost her two older sisters by her side, and was depressed all day long.

Later, she went to university in a place far away from her sister, and only returned home once a year during the Spring Festival or long holidays.

"Congratulations on finally getting married to Sister Mianmian."

...

"I finally got a government job, I'm going to cling to your leg!"

...

"I never thought I'd become an aunt."

The few words conveyed a thousand meanings; she didn't need to say much, her sister would understand.

But occasionally, I miss the person whose face resembles mine.

One day, as soon as he lay down in bed, he felt a sudden pang of anxiety.

She dialed Ren Yanyu's number, but couldn't get through.

"Maybe Xiaoyu is just asleep?" Ruan Mianmian comforted her. "We can wait until she falls asleep again."

It wasn't until late at night that the nurse called back, informing them that Ren Yanyu was in critical condition and that many things required family members' signatures.

To avoid arousing suspicion from her parents, she went to City A alone and wrote her name in the family member signature section again and again.

When Ren Yanyu was wheeled out of the operating room, she only glanced at her briefly before watching her sister being taken to the intensive care unit.

Aren't they two fruits growing from the same bloodline, growing side by side? Why can't she, as the older sister, do anything now?

Renyi, wrapped tightly in a visitor's uniform, looked at the face that resembled her own but was now deathly pale, and tears almost welled up in her eyes.

She looked up at the glaring incandescent light on the ceiling.

"Don't be afraid, your sister is here." Renyi whispered in her ear.

I comforted my sister, and I also comforted myself.

After Ren Yanyu was transferred to a regular ward, Ren Yicai told her parents everything, and the family rushed to the hospital that very night.

Ruan Mianmian also brought Ren Yunyou along.

"Sister, you should go and rest." Ren Yanyu said to Ren Yi as soon as she saw her parents.

She watched helplessly as Ren Yi lost almost a whole size of weight, feeling heartbroken but powerless to do anything about it.

Finally, Mom and Dad arrived, and my sister could finally have a good rest for a day.

It seemed like there were endless precautions to take, and he chattered on and on in the ward for almost an hour before finally returning to the hotel with Ruan Mianmian.

"Luckily, my sister is here," Ren Yanyu said to her mother in a hoarse voice.

Countless loves descended upon Ren Yanyu, and Ren Yanyu did not lose her younger sister.

On New Year's Eve of the following year, Ren Yanyu returned home healthy and reunited with her family.

Just like when she was a child, she stood in front of her sister and saved her from danger.

Even though they weren't spending every day together like before, she could still understand what she was thinking.

They are still thousands of miles apart, and may only be able to see each other a few times a year.

She could still sense the subtle changes in her.

"Sister, there seems to be a gray hair here. I'll cut it off for you." Ren Yanyu handed it to Ren Yikan.

He let out a long sigh, as if he were a homeroom teacher.

She gazed at her younger sister, who was still so full of energy, seemingly unburdened by anything.

Nothing has changed.

"Xiaoyu, why don't you age?" Renyi asked jokingly.

Ren Yanyu paused in pouring tea for herself, but quickly regained her composure.

"Because I want to be your sister forever."
