Chapter 236 Lizard 6

Chapter 236 Lizard 6

Min Xi saved her, just when Yu Mo thought she was doomed. She opened her mouth, intending to thank him. Seeing her lips part slightly, Min Xi became visibly excited and stuffed the piece of meat, still warm from the roast, into Yu Mo's mouth.

"It's hot!" Yu Mo waved away the arm that was blocking her face. She was quite strong, but her limbs were a little weak due to the snake venom. When her palm hit Min Xi's arm, it felt like hitting a hard, cold armor... She couldn't help but think of the crocodile, and she looked at Min Xi with a dazed look.

Yu Mo, having slept in the cave, was covered in clay. This was because, upon entering the cave, Min Xi had covered her wounds and areas stained with snake odor with his own scent. He had done this with his tongue, so her oral mucus inevitably stained her with the dirt from the cave.

She slumped back into the hole, getting covered in more dirt. She suppressed her rage. Min Xi hadn't meant to do it; he'd been sharing his food with her, so there was no reason for her to be angry. Her lips were reddened by the grease from the meat. She touched them with her fingers; it hurt a little, but there were no blisters.

After all, she had been injured by Min Xi's kindness, and while her lip still ached, she didn't want to leave the cave. She was also shocked by the touch of her palm. It was hard to describe the feeling; it was strange, very strange.

"Yumo!" Min Xi tumbled down. The once spacious cavern had become cramped by his entrance. Yu Mo was forced into a corner, her back pressed tightly against the fresh earth. Then she smelled a minty scent. As Min Xi approached, the smell grew stronger.

Min Xi blocked the only opening through which sunlight could seep into the cave. Behind him was the sunlight, its circle of light outlining an unusually majestic, blurry shadow. If Yu Mo hadn't known it was Min Xi, she would have mistaken him for a wild animal. He was making a gurgling sound in his throat, as if trying to please her.

"Tang, tang..." Those two emerald pupils in the darkness shrank into vertical lines, focused on the reddened area between Yu Mo's lips. He was completely unaware that his arrival had deprived the cave of a significant amount of oxygen and space. He moved closer to Yu Mo, his white-gloved hand gently touching her cheek. Although she quickly turned her head away, the touch, like egg white, sent a shudder through him.

Very fragile. He suddenly showed an annoyed expression. Before Yu Mo could react, he grabbed her waist and led her out of the cave. Then he stuffed the piece of barbecue that had been thrown on the ground into his mouth and cut it into thin slices to cool nearby.

This time he didn't dare to push it to Yu Mo, but just pointed at the piece of barbecue. He uttered a questioning sound: "yumo...tang"

Yu Mo was carried out of the cave like a child, her expression slightly embarrassed. More than anything, she felt offended. But Min Xi's behavior was clearly unusual, and she attributed it to her long years away from humans, learning among the beasts. She felt resentful, but couldn't express it because the person who had offended her was squatting in front of her, looking flattering, pushing pieces of meat toward her.

After calming down, Yu Mo thanked him, regardless of whether he could understand her or not: "Thank you for saving me." She moved to Min Xi's side, her palms stained with mud, her stomach rumbling. She didn't care about anything else, so she casually pulled a piece of grass, wrapped the meat in it, and stuffed it into her mouth. After chewing and swallowing, she said to Min Xi, who was staring at her, waiting for her feedback: "It's not hot. It's edible."

After thinking for a moment, Yu Mo made an exaggerated expression, cracking her lips as wide as possible, and pointed at the barbecue: "It smells delicious!"

"Hen...xiang. Hen..." Min Xi repeated Yu Mo's words. Yu Mo opened her mouth again and said, "Xiang," pointing to the barbecue. She didn't say "very" anymore, just "Xiang." Min Xi repeated it several times, a smug look on his face, as if he was proud of his ability to learn these short words.

Yu Mo felt strangely relieved. Actually, she shouldn't have felt relaxed at a time like this. She still didn't know if she could leave the island, if she could find the people from the research institute, and even if she was lucky enough to find them, could she successfully cross the Devil's Sea and return home again... These were all questions.

Besides, she was in a dense forest full of unpredictable dangers, so it wasn't the right time to relax. But she felt calm. Perhaps it was because of her sprained ankle that she couldn't go anywhere, or perhaps it was because she had just had a brush with death. She just wanted to lie on the dirty grass after a hearty meal and bask in the evening sun.

Min Xi ate the rest of the barbecue. Then he ran to the side of the hole and continued digging deeper, with his front half arched into the hole, leaving only his legs exposed. Yu Mo then noticed his feet, which were very broad, with long finger bones and sharp, thick nails.

Can a human grow nails like this?

Yu Mo knew her behavior was rude; she didn't stare at someone's butt while they were working. But there was something odd about Min Xi's butt. There seemed to be a bulge in the tailbone area. The bulge wasn't very noticeable, so it wouldn't normally be noticed. But now that his butt was sticking out, and Yu Mo remembered the severed tail she'd found in the bamboo forest, she couldn't help but connect the two...

Before I could think deeply, Min Xi's excited voice came: "Yu Mo!"

Yu Mo would teach him a few words when she had nothing to do. He stubbornly kept pronouncing the two characters "yumo" and then asked her to draw them on the ground for him, just like she did with other characters. He then knew what "yumo" looked like and learned it at an incredible speed.

Yu Mo curled her lips in response. She noticed that Min Xi resembled a puppy, constantly vying for its owner's attention. While describing him as a dog was rude, Min Xi reminded her of a puppy wagging its tail to please. If he had a tail, he'd probably be wagging it to express his delight by now, right?

"Yu Mo!" Min Xi's hands were covered with mud, and his white gloves turned into mud gloves. He had no intention of taking them off. He pointed to the wider and deeper hole and said, "Sleep!" This was also a simple word that Yu Mo taught him. Lying on the ground with his eyes closed was a very vivid teaching action.

"Where are you sleeping?" Yu Mo wasn't sure if Min Xi would go in, so she dug a hole in the ground. This was where he should stay. It would be inappropriate to drive him away just because she didn't want to live with a stranger. She had given up on sleeping in the hole. Although it was filled with the smell of earth, it was at least comfortable and safe.

She looked around for a place to rest temporarily. If that wasn't possible, she would stay next to the cave. She felt safe next to Min Xi. She had to admit, she was lucky to have Min Xi by her side. Although she was brave, after her experience with pythons, she felt that the dense forest was full of dangers.

She thought Min Xi was naive and honest, but in fact, he was very observant. This observation ability might not apply to others, but when it came to Yu Mo, Min Xi was more sensitive than ever. He wanted to sleep in the nest with the little female, but the little female didn't want to show it on her face.

Without the words to express his inner thoughts, Min Xi mumbled a few times, then jumped onto the giant tree next to him in front of Yu Mo, climbed up the branches with all four limbs like a lizard, turned his head and stared at Yu Mo with a grin: "Sleep, sleep, Yu Mo, sleep!" He pointed at the hole in the ground, and only then did he show a very lost expression until Yu Mo crawled in.

Yu Mo's leg injury wasn't healing properly. She couldn't risk getting on that unsafe bamboo boat at this point. But she still had many concerns about staying in the bamboo forest. For example, what about the python? Would it come for revenge? When she expressed her concerns to Min Xi, it took a lot of effort, as they didn't speak the same language.

Later, it was Yu Mo who picked up the vines and wrapped them around her. Min Xi understood, and her usually harmless face, always wearing an innocent smile, suddenly darkened. It was no exaggeration to say that Yu Mo was frightened, and the hairs on her limbs suddenly stood up. Although she had an easy time with Min Xi, if he attacked her, the knife at her waist would pierce his chest as quickly as it had the python.

People who spend a short time with Yu Mo think she's a patient and gentle sister or colleague, but those who spend more time with her discover that her gentleness is superficial and that she's actually a cruel person. Aside from her sister, everyone else is just a passing stranger to her, and those supposed friendships are simply for mutual benefit.

She won praise from her colleagues at the institute for her gentleness and patience, so her work at the institute went smoothly. If her personality did not bring her convenience, she would not help her colleagues so patiently, but would be dismissive and might even mock them without any psychological burden when they were clumsy.

The same goes for Min Xi. If he does something to hurt her, the kindness he showed her in the past will not be a burden to her.

Of course, her idea that Min Xi would hurt her was just an illusion created by his strong physique and oppressive aura. At least for now, Yu Mo was very willing to stay with Min Xi, who often smiled foolishly.

When Min Xi brought the python, Yu Mo was shocked! She noticed the torn marks on the python's body and asked, "Did you do this?" She knew that Min Xi's fingers should have sharp nails like his toes, and the white gloves were used to cover them. Yu Mo guessed that Min Xi did this because he didn't want to scare people.

Yu Mo's concerns were dispelled by Min Xi's affirmative answer. Even a python could be torn apart easily, not to mention that during the time they were in the dense forest, they hadn't heard a single sound from wild animals. Even when she was tied up in the dense forest, even with the python nearby, the roars of wild animals were constant.

This only proves that there are more ferocious creatures in this area. She did not find any traces of other animals here, only her and Min Xi. This deterrent power definitely did not come from her. Although her safety was guaranteed, Yu Mo had to think about a question -

What did Min Xi do to make the beast so afraid of him?

Is this something humans can do?
