Chapter 26 Mermaid 26
The moment Zhang Jingshu saw the news, she felt sad.
In a sense, Lianzhu Company is a past event that Cheng Shuinan never wants to mention. Her mother died because of it, and he was imprisoned in a dark and damp warehouse because of it.
Now, he came to this heartbreaking place just to give her a meal that was insignificant.
Zhang Jingshu picked up her cell phone and ran downstairs.
Zhang Ning was sitting next to her and wanted to chat with her, but when he looked up, he saw that she had disappeared like the wind.
…
Downstairs in the company, there was no news from Zhang Jingshu, so Cheng Shuinan didn't dare to enter rashly.
He was holding a thermos and standing upright in front of the door of Lianzhu Company.
Heavy snow fell, blanketing his hair and shoulders. He wore a thick white down jacket, the collar of which wrapped around his slender neck. He tilted his head slightly, and the glistening snowflakes landed on his long, thick eyelashes. His eyes were filled with undisguised curiosity and delight. He raised a hand, letting the snowflakes melt in his palm.
This was the scene Zhang Jingshu saw through the glass door.
She opened the door and ran over. Hearing the sound, Cheng Shuinan turned around abruptly. He looked at Zhang Jingshu, who was running closer, with a shy look on his face, and opened his arms expectantly. But Zhang Jingshu stopped half a step away from him.
Zhang Jingshu: "It's snowing so hard, you should just wait for me at home. What are you doing here? Are you cold on the road?"
Cheng Shuinan's arms moved down slightly. Seeing that Zhang Jingshu had no intention of hugging him, he lowered his eyes unhappily, blinking a flower made of snow. The cold temperature did not extinguish the fire in his heart. He took half a step forward, hugged Zhang Jingshu in his arms, and pressed her against his chest without any gap.
"Hold me, and you won't be cold anymore."
Even wearing a thick down jacket, his chest remained cool, perpetually filled with a faint dampness. Zhang Jingshu's head was pressed against his chest, and she could hear the throbbing of his heart, accompanied by the rich sweet scent of oranges. She wrinkled her nose.
"Cheng Shuinan, are you wearing perfume?"
"Yeah. I used yours. I like the smell."
It tasted the same as hers, and Zhang Jingshu took a big sip.
It was too cold outside, so Zhang Jingshu pulled Cheng Shuinan towards the company.
Cheng Shuinan followed silently. He knew what he was going to face before coming here, but the pain and sadness he imagined only lasted for a moment, like snowflakes falling on his palms, which soon melted into water and disappeared.
What was even more profound and intense was the violent shaking of Zhang Jingshu's chest when she ran towards him.
Holding her in his arms, no matter how strong the wind and snow were, they could not shake him at all.
She took his hand and walked into Lianzhu Company.
He felt an untimely peace.
All the resentment that should have been felt towards this place was melted away.
Zhang Jingshu is a leader in the company in terms of family background, appearance and figure. Many people have a crush on her, but her whereabouts are too unpredictable. She rarely has dinner with colleagues in the company and is always the first one to rush out after work. Although she has a gentle face, everyone thinks she is very cold behind her back.
This was the first time she appeared in front of everyone with a man.
Everyone once again lamented Nuwa's bias in creating human beings.
Zhang Jingshu is already very beautiful, but the man she holds hands with has an appearance that is so ugly that it is no exaggeration to say that it is enviable.
"Zhang Jingshu, who is this?"
Zhang Jingshu was already used to this kind of question: "It's my boyfriend. He was worried that I wouldn't eat well here, so he brought me food."
Cheng Shuinan stayed quietly beside her. When he heard her admit their relationship in front of her colleagues without hesitation, his cheeks immediately turned red and his bright eyes were filled with strong and soft love.
The hand that was held swayed left and right, and he couldn't control his excitement. The fingers that she held slowly curled up and tightly hooked her warm palm. Facing the ambiguous gazes of the crowd, he glanced at her casually with a bit of arrogance and complacency of being labeled as the real boyfriend, and then moved close to Zhang Jingshu, their shoulders almost overlapping.
He really likes this kind of intimacy without any gaps.
He'd done his homework before coming. Human society requires some social skills, and while he knew nothing about them, he could learn. Sharing appropriately could strengthen relationships among colleagues, so he deliberately made several extra copies.
If Zhang Jingshu needs this to improve her relationship with her colleagues, she can share it with him. If she doesn't need it, he can eat it himself after satisfying Zhang Jingshu's appetite.
Fortunately, he was well prepared. When Zhang Jingshu brought him into the rest room and opened the lid of the thermos, a rich aroma instantly wafted out. Through the glass door that had no privacy, countless eyes came over.
Zhang Jingshu ignored it and asked Cheng Shuinan, who was sitting next to her: "Have you eaten?"
Cheng Shuinan: "I'm not hungry."
Zhang Jingshu glanced at him without saying anything. She took out some of the food from the thermos box for the two of them to eat, and took the rest outside the break room and asked her colleagues if they needed anything.
On a snowy day, everyone only has instant noodles on hand, and naturally has no resistance to the delicious and hot meals.
The food was shared with Sister Zhang, who was a closer friend.
The meat buns that Cheng Shuinan brought by himself were sold out in no time.
All those who had benefited from Zhang Jingshu consciously gave up the rest room to them and did not go in to disturb them.
After the initial awkwardness and shyness, Zhang Jingshu settled into a state of "turning a deaf ear to the outside world." This was her workplace after all, and everyone was constantly around. Suddenly, her boyfriend arrived with a lunch box and was politely offered the rest room.
Even if the two of them didn't do anything intimate, they always felt like there were eyes watching them all the time.
Zhang Jingshu buried her head in her food. After a long while, when the shyness in her heart had passed, she suddenly realized that Cheng Shuinan was a little strangely quiet. She cast a worried glance over.
After initially asking Zhang Jingshu about the taste of the food, Cheng Shuinan fell silent. He sat next to her on the sofa, his back straight and his eyes drooping. He seemed to be staring at the insulated box, but in reality, his gaze was blank and empty. The moment his eyelashes fluttered, it seemed as if a tear had fallen.
Her heart suddenly tightened, and Zhang Jingshu secretly cursed herself for being careless, thinking that since he didn't show it, he didn't care. In fact, how could he not care?
He is always like this. He never speaks out his grievances or sadness, but keeps it hidden deep in his heart and digests it himself.
This made Zhang Jingshu feel even more distressed.
She put down the half-eaten food. The distance between them was already very close, but at this time Zhang Jingshu didn't mind getting even closer. She tried to move closer to him, slightly opened her five fingers and squeezed them into his fingers. Facing Cheng Shuinan's suddenly shy gaze, she clenched her palms.
"Okay, don't be sad. We'll leave here when the snow stops."
Zhang Jingshu has a special power. Her gentle gaze is like a spring breeze blowing across the snow, suddenly turning all the cold into liquid.
The two of them interlocked their fingers.
Cheng Shuinan pursed his lips, his thin red lips trembling slightly. He didn't dare to meet Zhang Jingshu's eyes, for fear that he would discover the secret joy that was overflowing from her.
He just... just noticed Zhang Jingshu's sudden tense and awkward mood. He was afraid that his overly clingy personality would cause her trouble, so he could only restrain his gaze and not let it fall on her.
But unexpectedly, she misunderstood.
This should be explained to her.
But Cheng Shuinan's voice suddenly lost its tone. Through his sweater, scales suddenly appeared on his chest and waist due to the excitement. He lowered his head and looked into Zhang Jingshu's eyes filled with worry and distress. The fingers that were held seemed to feel the owner's emotions and trembled imperceptibly.
Cheng Shuinan lowered his eyes, his thick eyelashes hiding the emotions in his eyes, and he uttered a monotonous "hmm" in a hoarse voice.
Immediately, he half-opened his eyelids.
He looked at her with soft and dependent eyes.
Zhang Jingshu couldn't help herself and hugged him with her arms open, no longer caring about the vague gazes from those around her. She buried her head in his chest and gently patted his back with her hands.
"It's not uncomfortable, we will leave immediately."
Cheng Shuinan still uttered a monotonous "hmm". He tightened his arms and his cheeks turned red.
He thought, he didn't say anything, it was Zhang Jingshu who misunderstood.
An embrace full of comfort and warmth.
The corners of Cheng Shuinan's lips gradually curled up, and there was deep satisfaction and joy in his eyes.
…
As the night deepens, the amount of snowfall tends to decrease.
I don’t dare to walk alone on a snowy night, but the feeling is different when I have company.
Cheng Shuinan put on a mask, covering the lower half of his face, and his features were never revealed. Zhang Jingshu explained that he had a cold and was afraid of infecting others. It was not until the two of them left hand in hand that those who were still staying at the company began to whisper.
There is naturally no shortage of slander and jealousy, but there is more envy and blessings.
There is a thick layer of snow outside the company's door. When you step on it, half of your foot will sink into it. Walking on such a road, it won't be long before your cotton shoes give up resistance and let the cold air invade your feet.
Cheng Shuinan walked in front, and Zhang Jingshu followed behind, following in his footsteps.
The breath she exhaled immediately turned into white mist. Zhang Jingshu rubbed her frozen face with her hands and took big steps, accurately stepping on the shoe prints left by Cheng Shuinan. She walked crookedly, and Cheng Shuinan saw this and reached out a hand for her to hold.
Although the snow was lighter, the wind was still blowing on my face.
Before they left the company, in fact, they had only walked a few steps, Cheng Shuinan suddenly squatted down and said, "Zhang Jingshu, come up, I'll carry you on my back."
Zhang Jingshu was wrapped up like a snowball, wearing a couple's jacket, a long white down coat, a matching cotton hat, and a scarf. Only her eyes and the tip of her nose, red from the cold, were visible.
"There's still a long way to go. I feel very depressed."
Cheng Shuinan was still squatting, looking at her sideways. He kept his hands raised back and smiled, "It's okay, you won't sink. If you do, I'll put you down."
Zhang Jingshu did not refuse anymore and bent down to lean on his back. He slowly stood up, put his hands around the inside of her thighs, pulled her up, and carried her steadily on his back.
Zhang Jingshu hugged his neck and saw that he was not trying to be stubborn. She slowly put her face against his neck. In fact, his body temperature was also cold, but it made Zhang Jingshu feel warm.
Cheng Shuinan held her steadily and walked towards home.
