Chapter 107 Why did you come to rescue me so late?

Chapter 107 Why did you come to rescue me so late?

When the people present saw the police coming, they immediately fled in all directions.

Shen Lai was still in this sudden situation and hadn't come back to her senses. She looked up and saw a tall figure walking in with the light behind him.

When Shen Lai saw Pei Jingyan's face clearly, his nose suddenly felt sore.

She thought Pei Jingyan would not come to save her.

Pei Jingyan saw Shen Lai lying on the ground at a glance. Her hair was messy, her cheeks were covered with dust, and several buttons of her clothes were torn, revealing her dazzlingly white shoulders and neck. A hint of coldness quickly flashed across his eyes.

"you........."

Before Pei Jingyan could finish his words, Shen Lai suddenly threw herself into his arms.

Pei Jingyan's body stiffened, and Shen Lai hugged his waist tightly, his voice choked with anger, "Why did you come so late? I thought I would have to die here today?"

The person in his arms was trembling slightly. Pei Jingyan's throat rolled over in silence. He put his hand on Shen Lai's back stiffly and patted him gently, "I'm sorry, I'm late."

Shen Lai sobbed softly. The worst thing she had ever experienced in her life was her family going bankrupt. No one had ever treated her like this.

If Pei Jingyan had not arrived in time today, the man with the scar might have succeeded.

Seeing Shen Lai shaking violently, Pei Jingyan pulled back a distance. He looked at her body and asked in a serious tone, "Did they do anything to you?"

Shen Lai shook his head slightly, "He was just about to do that to me when you guys came."

Hearing this, Pei Jingyan's tense expression finally relaxed a little.

At this time, he noticed a few drops of blood on the floor. He looked up along Shen Lai's arm and found that they were flowing out from between her fingers.

Pei Jingyan frowned and reached out to pry Shen Lai's hand open, only to find that she had been holding a piece of glass without knowing when. Because she was holding it too tightly, the sharp corner had been embedded in her palm.

Pei Jingyan's eyes flashed with gloom. He took the bloody glass fragments from Shen Lai's hand, threw them aside, and patted Shen Lai's shoulder gently. "It's okay. No one can hurt you anymore."

Looking at Pei Jingyan's serious expression, Shen Lai's panicked heart slowly calmed down. Perhaps it was because the fear and tension faded away that she realized the pain belatedly.

When Huo Chilin rushed over from outside, he saw Shen Lai holding Pei Jingyan. Pei Jingyan's arm was around Shen Lai's waist, comforting her like a child.

Seeing that Shen Lai was fine, Huo Chilin's heart fell back to where it was, and then he felt a strong sense of loss.

Just then, he caught a glimpse of a familiar face out of the corner of his eye.

Bai Hansui and the scarred man and his group have been caught by the police. They were pressed to the ground, with resentment written all over their faces.

When he saw Bai Hansui, Huo Chilin frowned. Then, seeing her being held down by the police, he quickly realized that this incident was related to her.

Bai Hansui did not notice Huo Chilin's arrival, and his eyes were fixed on Pei Jingyan and Shen Lai not far away.

Shen Lai clearly said that she and Pei Jingyan were a contract couple, but Pei Jingyan's reaction didn't seem like he had no feelings for Shen Lai at all.

Realizing that he had been deceived, a strong anger swept over Bai Hansui's mind.

Huo Chilin was about to turn around and leave when he suddenly heard a commotion behind him. He turned his head and saw Bai Hansui rushing towards Chen Lai with resentment in his eyes.

Chen Lai was still unaware of this. Pei Jingyan helped her stand up, and she felt her legs were weak.

Just then, a loud shout came from the front, "Be careful!"

When Shen Lai heard the sound, she subconsciously looked up and saw Bai Hansui rushing towards her with a knife in her hand.

The next second, a shadow fell in front of him.

Immediately afterwards, Shen Lai heard the sound of a knife cutting through clothes, which almost covered up the groan.

Shen Lai froze in place, staring blankly at Pei Jingyan who was standing in front of her. His shirt was torn by a knife, revealing a long blood mark.

Shen Lai's mind was buzzing and blank.

Soon, Bai Hansui was pinned to the ground by the police. She struggled unwillingly and roared, "It's all your fault!"

"If it weren't for you, how could I have been ruined!"

"You even lied to me and said you and Pei Jingyan were partners. That's obviously not the case. You liar, I won't let you go!"

Soon the police dragged Bai Hansui out. When she passed by Huo Chilin, Bai Hansui was stunned. However, before she could speak, she was dragged out by the police.

During this time, Huo Chilin didn't even look at her, his eyes were focused on Shen Lai not far away.

He subconsciously took a step forward, but when he saw Shen Lai's pale face looking at Pei Jingyan, he finally gave up the idea.

"Pei Jingyan, are you okay?"

After Shen Lai reacted, he quickly supported Pei Jingyan. His wound kept bleeding, and soon the sleeves of his shirt were dyed red.

Pei Jingyan took a breath and said, "I'm fine."

Shen Lai's heart tightened. Pei Jingyan had lost so much blood, how could he be okay?

She felt inexplicably flustered. She wanted to check Pei Jingyan's wound, but was afraid of hurting him. She was so flustered that she didn't know what to do.

Shen Lai's voice trembled slightly, "Are you stupid? Why did you come over to block the knife for me?"

If Pei Jingyan hadn't acted on his own, he wouldn't have had to suffer this.

Pei Jingyan looked up at Shen Lai. At this moment, her face was filled with helplessness and panic. He curled his lips and spoke weakly, "What do you say? Of course it's for the baby in your belly."

The two looked at each other. Chen Lai looked into Pei Jingyan's eyes. For a moment, she couldn't even tell whether what the other party said was true. The loss spread uncontrollably to every corner of her body, and the wound on her palm seemed to hurt even more.

The ambulance arrived soon and the medical staff helped Pei Jingyan into the car. Shen Lai subconsciously wanted to follow, but was stopped by the nurse.

"What is your relationship to the patient?"

Shen Lai was only concerned about Pei Jingyan's injury, and she said without thinking: "I am his wife."

The nurse looked at Shen Lai's worried expression, then glanced at the injured Pei Jingyan, and then let her get in the car.

The ambulance sped all the way to the hospital, and a doctor immediately came to treat Pei Jingyan's wounds.

Because of his injury, Pei Jingyan even had difficulty taking off his coat. After finally taking off his shirt, deep knife marks visible to the bone were exposed on his arm.

Shen Lai's heart suddenly began to tighten.

If Pei Jingyan hadn't blocked the knife for her, she would be the one sitting here now.

Pei Jingyan's wound was too deep, so it had to be stitched. He frowned and let out a muffled groan from time to time.

Shen Lai felt very uncomfortable when he saw this.

After all, Pei Jingyan became like this because of her.

Looking at the cold sweat on Pei Jingyan's forehead, Shen Lai bit his lip, mustered up the courage to stretch out his hand, and said awkwardly: "If it hurts, just hold my hand."
