Chapter 99: Will You Reject Me If I Kiss You?
The music in the bar was loud, the air was filled with the smell of cigarettes and alcohol, the lights were dim and ambiguous, and men and women on the dance floor were twisting their waists.
When Pei Jingyan arrived at the bar, he saw Yi Xingyu lying on the bar with several empty bottles of wine in front of her.
Pei Jingyan came to Yi Xingyu and asked calmly, "Why did you drink so much?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Yi Xingyu slowly raised her head. With the help of the light above her head, she could see Pei Jingyan's face clearly. Every part of it was as perfect as if it was carefully carved by Nuwa.
Yi Xingyu's cheeks were flushed and her eyes were blurred. She supported herself on the bar with her hands and stood up, but as if she was not standing firmly, she staggered and fell into Pei Jingyan's arms.
Pei Jingyan grabbed her shoulders and put some distance between them. "I'll have someone take you back."
"I won't reply." Yi Xingyu's voice lost its usual sharpness and seriousness, and was filled with a soft, drunken tone. "I want to drink more."
Pei Jingyan didn't want to waste time talking to a drunkard, so he took out his cell phone and was about to make a call.
The next second, his wrist was suddenly grabbed. He stopped and looked up at Yi Xingyu.
Yi Xingyu tightly grasped his wrist through his suit, "Jingyan, have a couple of drinks with me."
Pei Jingyan said calmly, "I don't have time to waste here with you."
Yi Xingyu smiled, with a hint of sarcasm in her smile, "Why, are you rushing back to accompany Shen Lai?"
Pei Jingyan frowned slightly.
"Aren't you sworn enemies? You and her don't have a very deep relationship, do you?" Yi Xingyu approached Pei Jingyan calmly, "You married her because she was pregnant, right?"
Pei Jingyan looked at her indifferently, "I think you are really drunk."
Just as he was about to break free from Yi Xingyu's hand, the other person's arm suddenly wrapped around him, "Jingyan, I like you."
Pei Jingyan frowned and heard Yi Xingyu say, "It's because of you that I returned to China. Otherwise, why would I give up my good job on Wall Street and come back?"
Seeing Pei Jingyan didn't say anything, Yi Xingyu thought that he was also interested in her. She was delighted and mustered up the courage to put her hand on Pei Jingyan's chest, moving it all the way, "I know that you married Chen Lai just for the child, it has nothing to do with love."
"As long as you are willing, I don't need any status."
As she spoke, she raised her head and was about to kiss Pei Jingyan, but before she could touch his cheek, Pei Jingyan dodged her.
Yi Xingyu's movements suddenly stopped in mid-air.
Pei Jingyan's tone was cold, "Don't think you know me well."
Yi Xingyu's hands and feet gradually became stiff. In all the time they had known each other, she had never heard Pei Jingyan say such harsh words to her.
"So you called me here tonight just to tell me this useless nonsense?" Pei Jingyan said coldly: "If that's the case, you can go back now. I will pretend that I haven't heard these words, and don't mention them in front of me again in the future."
After saying that, he turned around and was about to leave. The emotions accumulated at this moment seemed like an out-of-control valve swallowing up his rationality. Yi Xingyu looked at his back and shouted regardless: "If Shen Lai kissed you, would you not refuse?"
Pei Jingyan slowly stopped and turned his head to look at Yi Xingyu with no expression on his face.
"Yi Xingyu, I asked you to come back for work, not for love."
"If you came back to hook up with me, you can go back abroad now."
These words were like a basin of ice water poured over Yi Xingyu's head. She felt completely chilled, and every pore of her body was filled with biting cold.
She gritted her teeth unwillingly, "Are you sure Shen Lai really likes you?"
"She's with you just for money. She admitted it herself today."
Pei Jingyan caught the flaw in this sentence, narrowed his eyes slightly, and asked in a cold tone, "Have you looked for her?"
Yi Xingyu froze, and a chill suddenly rose under her feet. She had known Pei Jingyan for such a long time, but she had never seen such a cold look in his eyes, as if he was going to kill someone in the next second.
Seeing Yi Xingyu didn't say anything, Pei Jingyan thought about Chen Lai's cold attitude when he came back tonight, and he finally understood why Chen Lai was so abnormal today.
"Yi Xingyu, do you know why I let you come back?" Pei Jingyan suddenly spoke.
Yi Xingyu bit her lip and said, "Let me get back to work."
"It's good that you know." Pei Jingyan looked at her with an extremely cold expression. "If you appear in front of her again and say those nonsense to her, don't blame us for not even being ordinary friends."
Without looking at Yi Xingyu again, Pei Jingyan turned and left the bar.
Looking at Pei Jingyan's departing back, Yi Xingyu fell into the chair, as if her soul had been taken away, and she stood motionless in a daze.
Second bedroom on the second floor of the villa.
After taking a shower, Shen Lai lay on the bed and memorized her lines. Recently, the company helped her get a cameo role in a movie. Although the role was not big, I heard it was very important.

I was reciting my lines when there was a knock on the door.
Pei Jingyan was the only one in the house who would knock on her door, so she knew who was outside without having to guess.

"Did Yi Xingyu come to see you today?"
Chen Lai didn't expect Pei Jingyan's first words to be these, and he choked.
Pei Jingyan stared at her with deep eyes, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Shen Lai lowered his eyes, "What is there to say?"
Originally, what Yi Xingyu said was correct. The two of them did get married because of the pregnancy.
Pei Jingyan took in Shen Lai's expression and pondered for a moment, "Whatever she said to you, it's not true."
Chen Lai chuckled with an ambiguous tone, then looked up to meet Pei Jingyan's gaze, "What's not true?"
Pei Jingyan looked at her and spoke word by word, "Everything."
Chen Lai choked. She didn't want to appear to care much, but when she thought of what Yi Xingyu said, she couldn't help it for some reason.
She turned her head away. "I told you that when we were in college, we ate together, did group work together, and even led seminars together."
Pei Jingyan said calmly: "She took the initiative to find me, it has nothing to do with me."
Shen Lai curled his lips and said, "You pushed it all away."
Pei Jingyan took a step forward, and a huge shadow fell over her. "If I really had something going on with her, we would have been together a long time ago. Why would I marry you?"
Shen Lai snorted, "You didn't marry me because you liked me, what does this have to do with it."
"How do you know it's not?"
Pei Jingyan blurted out.
