Chapter 12 Wei Shuqing Tears Away the Qi Family's Fig Leaf 1

Wei Shuqing's eyes reddened, brimming with tears. She said to the police officer, "This officer is spouting complete lies. Not a single word of truth comes out of his mouth. From the time I married him until I got pregnant and then divorced him, he never spent a single penny on me or our child. I could only keep two yuan a month from my salary; the rest had to be handed over. His parents used all our money to subsidize their married daughter and grandson. I was left hungry and thirsty at home, and my child was emaciated and pale. Even so, I could manage. When my son was a year and a half old, his three nephews came to our house and tried to steal his food, almost beating him to death. Tell me, how could I dare give my child to someone like that?"

Qi Zhijun was so angry she couldn't speak a complete sentence, "You're talking nonsense...you vicious woman..."

Wei Shuqing wiped away her tears and, unafraid of losing face, said, "This is no secret. Qi Zhijun, if you want to get to the bottom of this, let's break it down right here and now, and see if your Qi family's reasoning can stand up to the masses! Are you even embarrassed to say it out loud!"

Qi Zhijun was so angry that he turned his head to the side and couldn't speak. The police officer asked Wei Shuqing to leave her work address and then let her go. When Wei Shuqing strode away without looking back, Qi Zhijun was still in a dream.

Wei Shuqing personally took him to the police station, where he was detained and his workplace was asked to pick him up. He finally realized that Wei Shuqing no longer belonged to him at all, and even their son was no longer his.

After being taken away by his colleagues, he was still in a daze. His supervisor told him to go home and suspend his duties to reflect deeply on his actions.

He went home and fell asleep immediately, only to be awakened by the screams of Qi Zhifang's three children. A series of piercing cries, "Hungry, hungry, hungry..." echoed in his ears, making him extremely anxious and wanting nothing more than to throw those three children out!

He re-examined his marriage with Wei Shuqing at this point. He hadn't wanted to get married because the woman he loved was married, and he no longer felt that spark with anyone else. However, Qi Zhifang had always relied on her family for financial support. Qi's father had retired from his teaching position due to poor health, and Qi's mother was unemployed. The family was facing financial difficulties, so someone introduced them to Wei Shuqing. He wasn't particularly fond of her, but when he learned that she was young and earning 38 yuan a month, he agreed. Wei Shuqing's arrival greatly relieved the family's financial burden.

Just as Qi's mother called out, "Dinner's ready!" Qi Zhijun was in a daze for less than five minutes. When he went out, there were no cornbreads left. Dongfang Hong was holding two in each hand, eating them with both hands.

When Qi Zhifang came out, she was dumbfounded and angrily cursed, "Are you all reincarnated starving ghosts?! There were only six cornbreads in total, and you ate them all. What are we supposed to do?!" As she spoke, her eyes turned red with anger, and she picked up a feather duster and started whipping the children. The children cried and wailed, clutching their cornbreads tightly in their hands. Qi's father slammed his hand on the table and said weakly, "Forget it, let them eat it!"

Qi Zhifang sat to one side, wiping away tears, and said, "How can you be so selfish? You don't care about others at all."

Mother Qi sighed, rubbing her stomach. "Forget it, this half-grown boy is going to eat his father out of house and home! There are still three of us!" She glanced at Qi Zhijun, whose face was pale and sallow from hunger. Her heart ached. She knew that when Wei Shuqing was alive, the two or three yuan she saved were used to feed her son well, and she herself often cooked special meals for her son, daughter, and grandson. But now…

Qi's father frowned and rubbed his chest, saying, "Never mind, old woman, just make some porridge!"

Qi's mother sighed, turned around, and came into the kitchen. Qi's father looked at Qi Zhijun and said, "Why did you sleep all day today?"

Qi Zhijun lowered his head and said, "I'm not feeling well, I'll rest at home for a few days."

With a troubled expression, Qi's father said, "You've suffered these past few days. Things are tough right now, so let's adults bear with it. The child is still growing, so even if he doesn't eat well, he still needs to eat his fill!"

A moment later, Qi's mother brought over a bowl of thin corn porridge. Just as the three children were about to gather around it, Qi Zhifang glared at them and scolded, "Get out of the way!" The three adults each had a bowl of porridge, and after finishing it, they went back to lie down.

Wei Shuqing's image lingered in his mind, both good and bad, and he angrily pounded the bed a few times...

The next day, when Qi's mother returned from grocery shopping, her legs felt unsteady and her eyes were glazed over. As soon as she entered the door, Qi's father saw her like this and asked, "Honey, what's wrong?"

Qi's mother opened Qi Zhijun's door and said in a trembling voice, "Wei Shuqing remarried and even changed her surname with her child. Why didn't you come back and tell me!"

Upon hearing that his child had changed his surname, Qi's father fainted. Qi Zhijun and Qi's mother rushed over; one pinched his philtrum while the other pressed two nitroglycerin pills under his tongue. After a while, he recovered and said in disbelief, "Xiao Wei remarried and the child changed his surname?"

Qi Zhijun turned his head to the side and made an "hmm" sound through his nose.

Father Qi closed his eyes and said, "Our Qi family's children cannot be given to outsiders; they must come back!"

Seeing that Qi Zhijun remained silent, he repeated, "Zhijun, did you hear me?"

Qi Zhijun whispered, "She won't give it to me..."

Qi's mother said, "I'll go find her. We can't let other people raise our Qi family's children!" Qi's father nodded and said, "My dear wife, bring Aiguo back."

Qi's mother nodded and went to the street office. Sitting there, she said, "We thought she wouldn't remarry, so we left the house and children to her. Now that she's remarried, we want to take back the house and children. Please, government, help us!"

When Wei Shuqing received the news, she was so angry that she laughed. She first went back to find her and her child's medical records, and then stormed off to the street. Since the Qi family was shameless, she would tear them down completely.

When they arrived at the street, they saw Qi's mother sitting there like a Buddha. Wei Shuqing smiled and said, "Director Wang, I'm sorry to have troubled you."
