As she spoke, she sat down on the table and started crying. The three children were so frightened that they burst into tears, and Qi Aiguo also started crying.
Qi Zhijun, after finally calming his exhausted son in his arms, said, "To be honest, I don't know how to explain this to Xiao Wei."
Qi Zhifang made the three children kneel in the yard. After coaxing her son to sleep, Qi Zhijun put him on the old couple's bed. The group sat together, and Qi Zhijun said, "I heard from Wang Dong that you are out of money and can't afford to eat. Fangzi, listen to your brother, buy fewer clothes and spend your salary on the children."
Qi Zhifang wiped away her tears and said, "What's wrong with me dressing nicely? I'm using my own money, not anyone else's. Am I guilty for dressing nicely? Why are you saying this to me?"
Qi Zhijun sighed and said, "If you won't listen to me, then so be it. I'll take the child over. I'll try my best to explain to Xiao Wei and prevent her from causing you trouble. You two also need to take good care of the child. It's not that we can't let them come to our door, it's just that it's inconvenient for them to meet recently." With that, he took the child away.
Qi Zhifang turned and went back into the house, crying again. The elderly couple in the Qi family sighed and called the three children to their feet. Qi's mother tapped each of their little heads, saying, "When will you stop fighting and causing so much trouble? Sigh! Go back and wash up and go to sleep!"
The three children did not recognize their mistakes; instead, they were indignant and felt that they should take the opportunity to teach Wei Shuqing and Qi Aiguo a lesson. They also felt that their uncle was not as kind to them as before and that he had changed his mind.
Wei Shuqing, who had worked the night shift, was unaware of what had happened at home. The dinner consisted of only cabbage slices and spinach stir-fried with tofu, with very little oil. Nevertheless, Wei Shuqing had brought a large lunchbox full. Zhao Dahu secretly handed her a lunchbox, and Wei Shuqing looked at him gratefully, silently saying thank you. Zhao Dahu waved for her to leave quickly.
When she got home, she opened Zhao Dahu's lunchbox and found that it contained half a box of braised pork. Thinking that Zhao Dahu had cooked a special meal for the boss yesterday, she was immediately filled with gratitude.
Qi Zhijun put the lid on and started cooking the porridge. He listened anxiously to the sounds outside, praying that Wei Shuqing wouldn't find out. But fate had other plans. Wei Shufen came in, gave him a reproachful look, and said, "Why aren't you waking our son up yet? Hurry up and wake him for breakfast. We can't waste that one yuan a month." She chuckled and went to pat her son, but her expression changed drastically. Seeing her son's head half-kicked out and bandaged in white, her hands trembled. She widened her eyes, then turned to Qi Zhijun, carefully turning her son over. Looking at his bruised body, she roared, "What did you do to my son? Qi Zhijun, you bastard! This is your own son!"
Qi Zhijun felt a chill run down his spine and whispered, "Shuqing, Shuqing, calm down and listen to me!"
Qi Aiguo woke up when he heard the noise, and when he saw Wei Shuqing, he burst into tears. Wei Shuqing hugged him tightly and said, "My good son, tell your mother who treated you like this."
Qi Aiguo sobbed, "Brother Dongdong, you're mean! You stole my food!"
Wei Shuqing's eyes widened and she said sternly, "Wang Dong and his gang are here again? They even stole the children's food."
Qi Aiguo said, "Hit her, Fangfang, hit her, it hurts Aiguo!" Wei Shuqing burst into tears and cursed, "Qi Zhijun, you're not human." Then she picked up the child and was about to leave.
Qi Zhijun pleaded, "Shuqing, calm down. I went to the old house last night and talked to them. Zhifang also disciplined the child. Can you forgive them this time?"
Qi Aiguo burst into tears, and Qi Zhijun took the child away. Wei Shuqing looked at him coldly and said, "You'll always be like this, you'll never care about us. You could just stand by and watch Aiguo get beaten like this. You're not human."
Qi Zhijun, eyes closed, said angrily, "Is it interesting that you keep saying this? Aiguo is my son, do you think I want to see this? Wasn't this an accident? Can you stop being so unreasonable! Mom and Dad haven't even recovered from what you've done, and you're going to cause trouble again? What if something happens to them..."
Wei Shuqing screamed hysterically, "I'll pay with my life if they get hurt, and now I'm going to get justice for my son! I'll kill those little beasts!"
He went into the kitchen, grabbed a cleaver, and was about to leave when Qi Zhijun desperately tried to stop him. Qi Aiguo burst into tears. Hearing Qi Aiguo crying so hard he was about to faint, Wei Shuqing let go of his son, hugged him tightly, and forced herself to calm down.
Qi Zhijun put the kitchen knife back and stood by watching Wei Shuqing squat down and hug Qi Aiguo to comfort him.
Once Qi Aiguo had calmed down, Wei Shuqing brought out the porridge and picked out a few pieces of braised pork from the lunchbox, putting them inside a steamed bun for Qi Aiguo to eat himself.
She would occasionally feed the child a spoonful of porridge, while Qi Zhijun stood by and watched his son finish eating. After Wei Shu finished washing up, she tidied up the things.
