Mother Qi sat there stiffly, her face ashen, her lips pressed into a straight line, her eyebrows furrowed, and her eyes blazing with fury, like a raging fire in the darkness, illuminating everything around her. It was a deep, ingrained rage.
"How dare he! How dare he!" she murmured, slamming her fist on the table and shouting, "Patriotism, my Patriotism! He's trying to make my Qi family line end, end! This unfilial son!"
I don't know where she got the strange confidence that Qi Aiguo is her grandson. Even if he wasn't raised by her, he's still hers. If she needs him one day, she only needs to call him and he'll have to come back.
When Wang Fang first heard the news, she felt as if the sky had fallen, leaving her head buzzing. Although she had the files and household registration, she could still fight for it as long as Qi Zhijun didn't acknowledge it. But if Qi Zhijun agreed to everything, what was the point of fighting? Her family's reputation would remain the same, and making a scene would only worsen the situation.
Why? Why is God so unfair! All she wanted was a job, why is it so hard? Then she said incredulously, "Grandma, what does my uncle mean? Does loving my country mean he's not part of our family? He's her only son!"
Mother Qi drawled out each word through clenched teeth, saying slowly and deliberately, "He-is-thinking-of-the-day!"
Wang Fang nodded in agreement, as if encouraging herself, and said, "Yes, Aiguo still needs to be brought back for you to discipline him, otherwise he'll really be spoiled rotten by them and become a little hooligan, all sleazy and unruly!"
Madam Qi took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself. She closed her eyes and forced herself to stay calm. After thinking for a long time, she realized that the starting point was still Zhao Aiguo; to destroy a person, one must first destroy their spirit. The first step to bringing down the Zhao family would inevitably be Zhao Aiguo.
Given that Wei Shuqing has been married for so many years without having children, how could the Zhao family have raised Zhao Aiguo to be like that? Although she hasn't seen him, Fangzi, Wang Fang, and even Wang Dong all said that the child is good-looking and well-dressed. You can tell from his clothes that the Zhao family values this grandson.
The grandmother and granddaughter were doing handicrafts and calculating their options when, before Qi's mother could come up with a plan, people from the educated youth office and the neighborhood committee arrived. Six or seven middle-aged women came, each shouting sternly, "Wang Fang, Wang Fang! Come out here!"
Upon hearing this sound, both Qi's mother and Wang Fangxin trembled and quickly came out.
The old woman was furious when she saw Wang Fang. She roared, "What's wrong with you, girl? I already scolded you once for sneaking back before. How long has it been? You dare to sneak back again? Do you want to be scolded again? Old lady Qi, what's wrong with you? Your family always has so many troubles!"
Wang Fang was stunned. Oh my god, she'd been found out! Her face turned deathly pale, and she stammered, "No, no..."
The older woman snorted and said, "Don't be so pretentious. You're not a city person anymore, what are you doing wandering around the city? Acting like a hooligan? Buy a ticket and go back! Don't come back unless you have to!"
Wang Fang grabbed Qi's mother's arm, and Qi's mother patted her hand, pretending to be calm, and said, "Director Wang, please calm down. The child is still young, we will educate her. Let me talk to her, and we will go back tomorrow. Please be lenient and give her some time to sort things out!"
"You have to leave tomorrow!" Director Wang felt it was bad luck to say another word to this kind of person, so he impatiently threw down these words and left.
After everyone left, Wang Fang cried and grabbed Qi's mother's arm, saying, "Grandma, I don't want to go back!"
Qi's mother sighed, patted Wang Fang's hand, and shook her head, saying, "What else can we do if you don't go back? You can't keep me here! Go back and pack your things, keep only two sets of clothes you can wear, sell the rest, and keep some money to take back with you! I'll think of a way to get you back to the city as soon as possible!"
When Wang Fang heard that she was going to have to sell her clothes again, she cried even more earnestly. Sobbing and wailing, she found two more sets of clothes as if she were cutting off her own flesh. After much persuasion, Qi's mother also changed out of the dark green woolen coat she was wearing. Just as they were getting ready to go out, they ran into Xiao Cui coming back.
Xiao Cui was furious when he heard that the neighborhood committee had come to his door again before he even got home from work. He thought, "Are these people out of their minds? They get all worked up over the slightest bit of kindness."
This is as if they don't think their reputation is bad enough, they're trying so hard to tarnish it! Marrying the King of Qi is truly the worst thing that could happen to them.
He was seething with anger, but before he even left, he walked in and saw Qi's mother and Wang Fang carrying a bundle and about to leave. In a fit of rage, he blocked the doorway and started yelling, "You two, where are you going to flirt with yourselves again? Keep your legs together when you walk, don't stink up other people! What can you do all day except flirt? Can't you live without a man?!"
Wang Fang angrily pushed the bundle to Qi's mother, stepped forward, pointed at Xiao Cui, and cursed, "Shut up, you old hag! Don't spout nonsense. You think you're so great, daring to insult our family? Who do you think you are? Who gave you the nerve! Once you leave our house, you'll be waiting to go to a shack! You..."
Xiao Cui laughed angrily, "What's wrong with me? I've already explained everything clearly, I'm innocent, and I've done right by everyone. I wouldn't dare compare myself to you! I can't live without a man."
Wang Fang stepped forward to attack, but Xiao Cui, though good with words, had never actually laid a hand on anyone, so she was forced to passively tear into him. Wang Fang hit and cursed, "You slut, you barren hen, always pointing fingers here, do you think I'm your grandmother? I'll beat you to death today, you shameless bastard!"
Xiao Cui screamed, "You bastard, how dare you hit me..."
"Ah!" Wang Fang felt a dizzying sensation and a metallic taste in her mouth before collapsing to the ground, her face numb.
Xiao Cui felt a lightness on his body as Qi Zhijun pulled him up. Qi Zhijun said coldly, "You still dare to hit and scold your aunt? You've really got a death wish! If I hear you say that again, don't blame me for being rude to you!"
Wang Fang angrily retorted, "You hit me? You hit me for this bitch!"
