After a day of school life, Zhao Aiguo remembered nothing except playing basketball during PE class and singing "Defend the Yellow River" in music class.
But she still happily ran to Zhao's father's workplace. As soon as she reached the cafeteria, she saw a male employee trying to slip several steamed buns and a lunchbox into Wei Dani's pocket. Wei Dani's smile was sweet, her face flushed.
Big Eyes thought for a moment and said, "The stench of love can cure ten years of chronic rhinitis! I have to tease them." She slipped over, put on a stern face, and whispered, "What are you doing? Stealing public property, huh!"
The two were startled. The man quickly grabbed his things and ran away. Wei Dani pulled Zhao Aiguo aside and said, "What are you doing? You scared me to death!"
Zhao Aiguo stroked his smooth chin and said, "Sister Dani? That guy wouldn't be interested in you, would he?"
Wei Dani's face turned even redder. "What do you know, you little kid? Stop talking nonsense, there's nothing to it!"
Zhao Aiguo shook his head and said, "I don't believe it! You two are obviously having an affair. Look at your face, it's as red as a monkey's bottom. If you said nothing was wrong, even a blind man wouldn't believe it."
Wei Dani blushed and tears were welling up in her eyes. Zhao Aiguo, who hadn't noticed, glanced inside and said, "Sister Dani, this person isn't suitable. You should stop him as soon as possible. Don't let him fool you with just two steamed buns. Our family can't have someone so shameless."
Wei Dani, enraged and embarrassed, retorted, "What are you saying, child? What do you mean by lying!"
"Comrade! Tell me what's wrong, don't make things difficult for a young girl!" Just as he was speaking, he was interrupted by a sudden voice. Zhao Aiguo turned around and smiled, "Brother Jiang Zhen? What brings you here?"
Jiang Zhen was a little shorter than Zhao Aiguo, and while he was fair-skinned, he wasn't particularly handsome, but he exuded an air of righteousness. Upon seeing Zhao Aiguo, he laughed heartily, nudged Zhao Aiguo's shoulder twice, and nodded happily, "You've grown really fast, kid, you're quite muscular!"
Zhao Aiguo chuckled and said, "Hmm, not bad! Not as tall as my dad. By the way, what brings you here?"
Jiang Zhen glanced at Wei Dani, his face slightly flushed, and said apologetically, "I heard that someone was making things difficult for our female cafeteria staff, so I came to check it out. It's alright, you two continue chatting."
As he spoke, he ran back. Zhao Aiguo gave Wei Dani a lewd smile and winked at her, saying, "Sister Dani, I didn't mean to embarrass you. The man who gave you the steamed bun just now was really no good. He has character issues. I think Brother Jiang Zhen is quite good to you. If you want to find a boyfriend, Brother Jiang Zhen is the right choice!"
Wei Dani blushed crimson, grabbed her bag, and ran off. Zhao Aiguo scratched his head, realizing he couldn't be careless. Just then, Zhao's father came over and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Zhao Aiguo pointed to the person inside who was pretending to be calm and busy and asked, "Grandpa, who is that?"
"Oh, Director Li's relative, Li Jianshe. He's only been in the cafeteria for less than three months, so you don't recognize him?" Zhao's father glanced at him but didn't think much of it.
The grandfather and grandson walked into the bicycle shed and went home together. A little while later, Zhao Dahu returned, washed his face in the yard, and Zhao Aiguo handed him a towel. Zhao Dahu took it and wiped his face. Looking at Zhao Aiguo, he asked, "What's wrong?"
Zhao Aiguo pulled Zhao Dahu aside and said, "I went to the food factory to see my grandfather today and found that Sister Dani was getting quite close to a man who doesn't seem like a good person. They seem to have feelings for each other. I shouldn't say anything about this, but you'd better mention it to your uncle and aunt."
Zhao Dahu was taken aback and said, "How do you know that person is bad? You must be mistaken?"
Zhao Aiguo shook his head and said, "No way! That kid looks at my sister Da Ni like a dog has seen a bone, he's practically drooling. There's no doubt he likes my sister Da Ni!"
Zhao Dahu looked at this silly boy and said, "Then how do you know he's a bad person?"
Zhao Aiguo whispered, "That scoundrel stole a few steamed buns from the canteen. When he saw me, he thought he'd run into an official. He slipped right into the canteen, leaving my sister Da Ni there alone. He pretended to be busy in the canteen and didn't even look this way. I knew he was a bad person, not a real man, and irresponsible."
Zhao Dahu was startled and said, "You must be mistaken! This one thing alone has nailed someone to the spot?"
Zhao Aiguo scoffed, "We're all experiencing life for the first time. Time is precious! Where do we find the time to read so many 'time will tell' and 'a person's true character' stories? This is like sifting through sand; the ones filtered out first are definitely not good. We'll just keep a few useful ones to look at!"
Zhao Dahu chuckled and said, "Then which one do you think is better?"
Zhao Aiguo didn't even bother to say, "Brother Jiang Zhen! He has an upright character and acts with integrity. I can tell he definitely has feelings for Sister Da Ni!"
Zhao Dahu suppressed his smile and thought about it carefully. Jiang Zhen was indeed a good man. He was promoted to the canteen team leader last year. In his early years, he had to support his younger siblings. He finally raised them to adulthood and they both have jobs now. He is 24 years old this year, 7 years older than Da Ni. He is a bit older, but what's wrong with being a bit older? He's more caring!
Zhao Dahu still couldn't believe it. "You kid, don't be talking nonsense. You're making a fool of yourself if you're wrong again."
Zhao Aiguo said anxiously, "How could I be wrong? What are my eyes? They're like Sun Wukong's fiery eyes! These aren't two holes. If you believe me, hurry up and tell my uncle and aunt that this guy named Li Jianshe is unreliable. He's just all talk! He's so annoying. I'm afraid something bad will happen if we're too late."
"Dinner's ready! What are you two doing?" Zhao's mother called out. The two of them came back after finishing their conversation. After eating, Zhao Aiguo looked at Zhao Dahu as if he had a nail in his butt. Zhao Dahu had no choice but to say, "Well, I have something to do and I have to go out!" He then rode his bicycle to Wei Xigun's house.
Upon entering, he found several people eating. He quickly invited them in, and Wei Xigun said, "Have you eaten? Want to eat something together?"
