Qi Zhijun added, "Okay, you can take it! You're the only one in the family who likes to eat this kind of thing."
At the time, he never considered whether his wife liked to eat or not. Well, what did it matter to him whether she liked to eat or not? As long as Qi Zhifang needed it, the whole family would break their bones to let Qi Zhifang suck out the marrow.
The difference between people is so great. Fortunately, I now know that if I hit a wall, I should turn back.
After talking for a while, Zhao's father was seen holding Zhao Aiguo in one arm and carrying a bottle of hawthorn canned fruit, a large piece of bread, and firecrackers in the other. Zhao Aiguo was holding a small piece of bread in both hands, eating while talking to his father. The old man and the young boy had happy smiles on their faces.
As soon as he came in, Zhao Aiguo quickly unfolded the oil paper, broke off a large piece of bread, and gave it to his mother, saying, "Grandma, eat this, there's meat inside." Zhao's mother took it with a smile, and the child broke off another piece for Wei Shuqing, who also took it.
Then he ran over and asked Zhao's father to take him to set off firecrackers. Zhao's father immediately nodded and said okay, and the two of them went out to set off firecrackers. Looking at the grandfather and grandson through the window, one could feel a deep sense of happiness.
Before long, Zhao Dahu finished cooking: a plate of fried ribbonfish, a sweet and sour carp, stir-fried pork with garlic sprouts, a plate of pan-fried tofu, a plate of braised pork ribs, and a plate of refreshing cold black fungus salad. He also brought out twenty steamed buns. Then he shouted, "Dinner's ready!"
The grandfather and grandson had just come in. The Zhao father and son drank some tea, while Zhao's mother and Wei Shuqing served tea, and Zhao Aiguo drank malted milk powder along with them. During the meal, Zhao's father raised his glass and said, "Little Wei, first of all, thank you for marrying our Dahu. And then, thank you very much for letting Aiguo's children have the same surname as our family. My wife and I thank you. From now on, we are all family. Let's get along well."
Wei Shuqing quickly stood up and said, "Thank you, Mom and Dad, and thank you, Da Hu, for giving me this opportunity to become a family. I won't say anything more; let's live a good life together from now on."
After the whole family had eaten and drunk their fill, as Zhao's mother and Wei Shuqing were cleaning up the kitchen, Zhao's mother tentatively said, "Um, little Wei, Mom wants to discuss something with you."
Wei Shuqing put down what she was doing and said, "Mom, you go ahead, I'm listening!"
Zhao's mother said, feeling embarrassed, "That's right. I think Aiguo is not very old, and it would be pitiful for him to go to daycare. He'd be there all day. It's not like we absolutely have to go. You see, our house is so big. When they go to work, I'm all alone and it's quite lonely. I was thinking if you could leave Aiguo with me, and I'd look after him for you. I promise I can take good care of him and make sure he doesn't get hurt or even scratch."
Wei Shuqing smiled, thinking it was something serious! Then she nodded and said, "That's something I'd love to do, but I'm afraid it would cause you trouble."
Zhao's mother immediately beamed and said, "What trouble is there? What old lady like me doesn't look after her grandchildren and cook? I'm happy to do it!"
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law chatted and laughed as they finished cleaning the kitchen. Zhao's mother said, "You two just go do what you need to do and keep your father and me company."
Zhao Dahu shouted, "Alright!" Then he put on his clothes, grabbed Wei Shuqing, and left.
