Qi Zhifang pouted and snorted, then sauntered home with the potstickers in her hand. She casually placed them on the table and announced loudly, "Mom, sister-in-law, come out for potstickers! The filling is made with old hen soup, it's so delicious, eat them while they're hot!"
Qi's mother came out wearing a coat and said, "What are you doing back so late? Where did this come from?"
Xiao Cui also came out wearing a coat and said, "What's wrong? I heard Fangzi calling me!"
Qi Zhifang smiled and said, "I was helping a colleague out with a little thing. He treated me to dinner, and I thought it was pretty good, so I brought some for you guys to try. Eat up! I'm going to wash up!" She then hummed a song and left.
Xiao Cui sensed something was wrong, gave an awkward laugh, and said, "I'm not hungry, so I'll head back now." Then he left.
Knowing her daughter's temperament well, Qi's mother sighed, took the oil paper package to the kitchen, and went back inside.
Meanwhile, Lao Liang was distracted. When he got home, he found that the door was unlocked and the light was on. His heart skipped a beat. He quickly composed himself, put on a gentle and refined demeanor, and opened the door to find that Li Yuemei had already washed his dirty clothes and was hanging them to dry on the line inside the house.
The anger that hadn't subsided flared up again. Qi Zhifang couldn't be in a hurry, but Li Yuemei didn't care. This was the woman he was about to marry. Thinking of this, he stepped forward and took Li Yuemei's hand, saying, "Don't bother. Didn't we say we were going to your maternal grandparents' house today? What's wrong?"
Li Yuemei looked up and said, "What are you talking about? Where did you go after get off work? I've been waiting for you at home for so long!"
Old Liang chuckled and said, "Your jealousy is unreasonable. Are you that worried about me?"
Li Yuemei pushed his hand away, her face full of displeasure, and said, "Are you going to talk or not?"
Old Liang unbuttoned his coat and said, "I went out to have dinner with my classmate and we chatted. I'm getting transferred to the Materials Bureau after the New Year! I'm looking into work connections!"
Li Yuemei looked at Lao Liang with a serious expression. Lao Liang's heart skipped a beat, but he didn't show it on his face. He just looked at her with concern and asked, "What's wrong?"
Li Yuemei lowered her head and said, "I'm scared!" Old Liang smiled gently and said, "Scared of what?"
Li Yuemei bit her lip and said, "There are too many women out there. I'm afraid you'll be blinded by them and fall for them. You're so wonderful, I'm afraid someone else will take you away!"
Old Liang chuckled and said, "Silly girl, only you would be interested in me. Are you afraid someone else will snatch me away? I'm more afraid someone else will snatch you away! I'm ten years older than you. By then, you'll be in your prime, and I'll be an old man. If you look down on me, I'll have nowhere to cry."
Li Yuemei hurriedly said, "Who said I looked down on you? I would never look down on you! I feel like I'm dreaming, so anxious and insecure. You're a college graduate or a cadre, yet you married a factory worker like me, and now you're transferring to such a good unit as the Materials Bureau. I'm afraid I'm not good enough for you."
Old Liang gently hugged her and said, "Are you really afraid I'll run away?"
Li Yuemei nodded. Marrying Lao Liang was no longer just her own wish; it was the wish of her whole family. Lao Liang said in a hoarse voice, "Then give it to me now. If we become real husband and wife, what are you afraid of?"
Li Yuemei blushed instantly and whispered, "No, we're not married yet!"
Old Liang slowly unbuttoned her clothes, kissed her earlobe and whispered, "What are you afraid of? We're going to get married sooner or later. If not, let's get our marriage certificate tomorrow. Are you afraid I won't take responsibility for you? Now all the leaders and colleagues at the factory know you're my wife."
Li Yuemei trembled, gripping Lao Liang's hand tightly, her voice shaking as she said, "I'm scared, I..."
"Yuemei, leave it to me. Don't be afraid. I swear, give it to me today, and we'll get our marriage certificate tomorrow." Old Liang couldn't hold back any longer. The fire that Qi Zhifang had stirred up hadn't died down yet, and now he couldn't control himself at all.
Li Yuemei pushed him away and shook her head, saying, "No, we can't do this before we get married, Lao Liang, I'm sorry, I..."
Old Liang coaxed Yue Mei, holding her hand, "Then I won't touch you, can you let me see you?"
Enveloped in tenderness, Li Yuemei was dazed and stripped naked, then collapsed onto the bed. She closed her eyes and surrendered everything to Lao Liang.
Young women always arouse a man's desire to conquer, and judging from Lao Liang's expression, he was obviously very satisfied with the wife he had chosen. After a tiring night, Lao Liang took Li Yuemei to get their marriage certificate the next day. When they came out, Lao Liang said gently, "Are you relieved now?"
Li Yuemei blushed and glared at him. Old Liang laughed and said, "Let's move your luggage to my place!" The two moved their luggage over and officially moved in together. After returning home, Old Liang didn't ask Li Yuemei to do anything. He lit the stove, boiled water, cooked two bowls of noodles, cracked two eggs, and added some soy sauce, chopped green onions and cilantro, and a drop of sesame oil when it was done. He brought it in and said, "Eat quickly. Today is your first day home. Have some noodles for a smooth start."
Li Yuemei smiled and said, "You still believe in this?"
Old Liang nodded and said, "Why wouldn't I believe it? I believe anything that's good for the two of us!"
Li Yuemei pouted, but her heart was filled with happiness as she ate the fragrant bowl of noodles.
