Chapter 81 Pregnancy (1/2)

He Cuiping, who had just come out of the activity room, looked relaxed, while Guo Shuwen could still be heard wailing inside.

"Little sister, it's all my fault today. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been bullied by them. Tonight, invite Gu Chen to my house for dinner." He Cuiping vented her anger. Although the other party apologized reluctantly, she felt relieved.

Lin Yuxi took her hand and smiled, "Sister-in-law, it's not your fault. They're the ones who are arrogant and look down on people."

"Thank you too. I'll go buy more groceries later and come over for dinner tonight. Tell Gu Chen not to cook, and I'll cook my specialty dishes for you." He Cuiping's gloomy mood vanished, and she quickly said.

The two walked back hand in hand. The activity room was indeed in complete chaos. Because of this farce, the event ended on a sour note, before it was even finished.

As they approached the courtyard, He Cuiping reminded her, "Go back and get some sleep first. I'll cook dinner and then come to wake you up."

He Cuiping returned home, and seeing that it was already noon, Political Commissar Wang noticed that her complexion was off and quickly asked, "Is the activity over so quickly?"

He still had leftover white rice porridge from the morning in his bowl.

He Cuiping sat in the chair without saying a word, her eyes reddening. "I was bullied, but luckily Lin helped me."

"Who? Who bullied you?" Political Commissar Wang's eyes widened instantly, and he put down his chopsticks and hurriedly comforted him.

He Cuiping was a rough person, and she wiped her snot and tears with her sleeve. He didn't mind and quickly wrung out a towel to wipe her hands.

“I’m on leave tomorrow, I’ll take you out for a walk. Don’t cry, it’s not easy to come to the city, otherwise when we get back, Mom will think I’m bullying you,” Political Commissar Wang continued to comfort her.

He Cuiping was truly aggrieved. Hearing his words, she lost her temper instead. "Is it enough for you to say a few nice words? Is it enough to buy a few clothes? You only care about saving face in front of Mom. Have you ever thought about me?"

"How could I not have thought about you? Didn't I just ask you? Who bullied you? I just saw you were unhappy and wanted to buy you something to cheer you up," Political Commissar Wang coaxed in a humble voice.

He Cuiping cried for a while before calming down. "It's nothing, I just got a few jokes made about me. I'll invite Lin Meizi and Gu Chen over for dinner tonight."

“Okay, okay, whatever you say. After we finish eating, how about I take you to the street to buy some clothes tomorrow? You’ve been here for almost half a month, and I haven’t taken you out yet.” Political Commissar Wang quickly agreed. He also admitted that it was his fault. He hadn’t contributed a single penny to his family’s efforts, and he thought he had appeased them by giving them some money.

But He Cuiping is also a woman, and she also needs her husband's company.

If she hadn't met Lin Yuxi during this time, she wouldn't have had anyone to talk to.

"Give me the money, I'll go shopping myself."

“But you can’t read, so I…” Political Commissar Wang had barely finished speaking when he immediately fell silent, realizing he had said the wrong thing. He smacked himself on the mouth. “I spoke too quickly. It’s my fault. I’ll give you the money now so you can buy clothes tomorrow.”

This time, he gave twenty yuan.

It was always the same; he carefully calculated the living expenses he gave her each month, leaving He Cuiping with absolutely no opportunity to spend a penny more elsewhere.

He Cuiping took the money and stuffed it into her sleeve.

"I'll go kill the chickens in the yard."

She had cried and said the wrong thing, so Political Commissar Wang didn't know what to say. He quickly finished his meal and left home.

He Cuiping looked at the mountain of clothes and the bowls on the table and sighed.

next door.

Lin Yuxi had just returned home, while Gu Chen was still at home.

"Was the event boring? The TV should be delivered in the next couple of days. Would you like it in the living room or the bedroom?" Gu Chen washed his hands and took out two pieces of fruit from his pocket. "These were given to you by a comrade earlier. Try them. They're not very sweet, so you should like them."

"Hmm, have you eaten?" Lin Yuxi raised an eyebrow and sat down.

Gu Chen had already gotten the food from the cafeteria and put it in the kitchen. Now that he was back, it was just in time to eat it while it was still hot.

“I’ve already eaten. I was worried you might come back for dinner, so I brought you a meal. It’s still warm. You can eat first. I’ve washed these two fruits for you.”

Gu Chen even thoughtfully washed her lunchbox before leaving.

“It’s autumn now, and training has been a bit busy. This is my paycheck for today, eighty-eight yuan in total. Take it and go buy something you like on the street.” Gu Chen rubbed her cheeks for a while before letting go.

I never realized the benefits of having a wife before, but now I do, and it's truly wonderful.

Lin Yuxi turned to look at him, "I've made plans to go shopping at the department store with Sister He tomorrow, so I'll just use the money."

“Yes, spend it if you want,” Gu Chen replied.

"Oh, by the way, Sister He said she's going to her house for dinner tonight. When you come back, bring some fruit and candy with you."

Finally, the two spent a short, intimate moment inside the house before Gu Chen, feeling refreshed, put on his coat and left.

Lin Yuxi was already in bed and had started to sleep. Lately, she didn't know why, but she felt like she was becoming sleepy. Before she knew it, she slept until night. Even the loud noise when Gu Chen came back didn't wake her up.
