Chapter 92 She Pushed Me (1/2)

When Lin Yuxi woke up, her hand unconsciously touched her bulging belly. Recently, the baby's movements have become more and more intense, sometimes making her belly look like a high mountain, and sometimes kicking her awake in the middle of the night. She usually sleeps next to Gu Chen at night, and this kick woke Gu Chen up as well.

The kitchen was filled with clanging sounds. Lin Yuxi put on a pair of fleece pants and then a coat before getting out of bed. She opened the door and saw Jiang Shufen sitting at the table picking vegetables, while Gu Chen was busy in the kitchen.

The steam in the pot was billowing like boiling water, as if it were stewing some kind of delicacy, and the aroma was like a clear spring, flowing continuously from the pot.

"Awake?" Gu Chen turned his head, wearing an apron, looking like a stay-at-home husband.

Lin Yuxi curiously leaned forward, staring at the food in his pot. "Are you making fish soup?"

Gu Chen gently kissed her cheek. "Mmm, I added tomatoes and tofu for you. The boss said it won't taste fishy or greasy this way. Try it in a bit."

Lin Yuxi's pregnant belly was pressing against him, and at that moment, the baby inside her belly gave a playful kick. The slight force seemed to be greeting Gu Chen, and Gu Chen could feel it clearly.

"Quiet down, let your mom eat first." Gu Chen gently rubbed her belly with the back of his hand and said tenderly, "I made you some millet porridge and steamed some meat buns. Eat first."

Lin Yuxi sat upright at the dining table and shared her thoughts, "After the New Year, I plan to go to the library to read some books. I'm so bored staying at home all day."

Gu Chen had no objection, but simply told her, "Then be careful on the way, and don't squeeze with them. Wait until after the morning rush hour before you go, then there won't be many people on the bus."

"Huh? You're going to the library?" Jiang Shufen was so surprised that she almost dropped the vegetable basket in her hand. "There are so many cars on the road, and you're pregnant now. It's not convenient for you with such a big belly. If you want to go, I'll take you there in the morning and then come back to pick you up later."

The three people were chatting when suddenly someone knocked on the courtyard gate.

"Auntie, sister, it's me." He Cuiping stood at the gate of the courtyard and waved with a smile.

Jiang Shufen hurriedly went to open the door.

"Cuiping, why are you up so early?"

He Cuiping smiled and said, "I was bored, so I came to help you cook, Auntie. Oh, Gu Chen is in charge of cooking today? Then I'll have to have my husband come over and learn properly."

After a while, she indeed pulled Political Commissar Wang over.

Commissar Wang knew nothing about cooking. He had always eaten in the mess hall when he was in the army and had never cooked before. In his family, the men had never stepped into the kitchen.

After the meal, Political Commissar Wang had mixed feelings and left not long after finishing.

After the New Year.

The March sunlight streamed in through the library's old glass windows. Lin Yuxi parked her bicycle at the library entrance and touched the cotton cushion on the seat. Gu Chen had made it for her from old clothes, worried that she would be uncomfortable sitting on it during her pregnancy.

Jiang Shufen had offered to bring her over, but she wasn't a delicate person; she was just coming to the library to read a few books, so there was no need for her to be brought over.

Since spring arrived, there has been no more snowfall, but fallen leaves remain on the steps in front of the library. Lin Yuxi slowly walked up the steps, her cotton shoes making a dull sound as they stepped on the wooden planks.
