Chapter 320: Safety, Do Not Disturb
He was sitting on the sofa with a laptop in front of him, as if he was working.
Wen Liang propped himself up and sat up in surprise, looking around.
This room does have obvious signs of life and doesn't look like a newly opened room.
She asked curiously, "Then why am I here?"
Huo Dongcheng twitched his lips, "What do you think?"
Wen Liang thought seriously for a moment, "You brought me back from the bar?"
So, it was Huo Dongcheng who helped her out at that time, not Fu Zheng. It was just that she had drunk a little bit of wine and made a mistake?
Huo Dongcheng raised his eyebrows but did not deny it.
"Brother Dongcheng, thank you for helping me out." Wen Liang smiled sheepishly and asked tentatively, "I'm drunk. I didn't say anything offensive, did I?"
For example, just call him Fu Zheng or something?
Although mistaking someone for someone else is not a big deal, it is not very polite to the person who was not recognized, let alone someone like Huo Dongcheng.
Huo Dongcheng smiled and said, "I didn't say."
Wen Liang breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."
"But you vomited all over me." Huo Dongcheng said immediately.
"ah?!"
Wen Liang's jaw dropped to the ground.
"Ah what? Your own cotton coat is stained with vomit. I threw it away for you."
Wen Liang smiled awkwardly, threw back the quilt and climbed down from the bed, "I'm sorry... well, how much are your clothes? I'll compensate you."
"No need for this. I don't need any more clothes."
A piece of clothing really wasn't a big deal to Huo Dongcheng. Wen Liang thought for a moment and said, "How about I treat you to dinner tonight?"
Huo Dongcheng helped catch Zhang Guoan and rescued her in the bar, so it was only right to treat him to a meal.
Huo Dongcheng looked up and said, "Okay."
He pointed to the paper bag on the sofa and said, "By the way, I asked someone to buy you a new down jacket. Do you want to see if it fits you? Do you like it?"
"Brother Dongcheng's vision must be correct."
"The secretary bought it."
The flattery hit the horse's leg.
Wen Liang was disappointed: "..."
She took out a down jacket from the paper bag and unfolded it. It was white and short.
She unzipped it and put it on, then looked at herself in the floor-length mirror and said, "Dongcheng's secretary has good taste."
Huo Dongcheng: "..."
Wen Liang took off his down jacket again, went to the bathroom to wash his face, and dried it with a tissue.
The makeup on her face had come off, and she looked in the mirror closely. The scars on her face were no longer so obvious.
She adjusted her hair with her hands and simply covered the side of her face.
Coming out of the bathroom, Wen Liang looked around the room and saw his cell phone lying on the bedside table. He walked over, picked it up, and pressed the power button.
Um?
Your phone is out of battery?
Wenliang long-pressed the power button to turn on the phone, and the battery was more than half full.
Huo Dongcheng seemed to know what she was thinking and said, "Someone has been calling you. I turned off your phone because I didn't want to disturb you. I hope you didn't miss any important news."
"fine."
The call logs came flooding in.
Wen Liang looked through the dozens of call records, all of which were from Fu Zheng.
He must be getting anxious because he couldn't contact her.
Do you want to go back?
Wen Liang was struggling when Huo Dongcheng closed his laptop, stood up and said, "Let's go have dinner."
It was already past four in the afternoon, and it was after five when we arrived at the restaurant, which was just the right time.
"Okay." Wen Liang responded, put on his down jacket and put his phone back in his pocket.
The restaurant is warm and cool.
Huo Dongcheng said that he would be in Jiangcheng for a short time, so he asked Wen Liang to recommend a place, and she chose a private restaurant.
After tasting it, Huo Dongcheng praised the taste highly.
When they were halfway through the meal, Wen Liang's cell phone on the table rang.
She picked it up and took a look. It was Fu Zheng calling.
Wen Liang hesitated for a moment and clicked to hang up.
She still doesn't know what to say to Fu Zheng.
After thinking about it, Wen Liang opened the message interface again and replied to Fu Zheng with a few words: I am safe, do not disturb me.
After sending the message, Wen Liang put the phone on the table and smiled at Huo Dongcheng.
Huo Dongcheng's eyes flashed with a meaningful look, and he said, "Why don't you answer it?"
"It's not an important call." Wen Liang said casually.
As soon as she finished speaking, her phone rang again.
Wen Liang picked it up and saw that it was still Fu Zheng.
"Why don't you go and answer him? He might have something important to tell you." Huo Dongcheng said, "I remember Zhang Guoan arrived in Jiangcheng this afternoon. Maybe he found out something during the interrogation."
Thinking of the truth of what he learned this morning, Wen Liang pursed his lips and hung up the phone, "It's okay, don't answer."
Huo Dongcheng's eyes flashed, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
After dinner, it was almost seven o'clock.
"Let's go. Wherever you live, I'll take you back." Huo Dongcheng said.
Wen Liang reported the name of the community.
Huo Dongcheng sent Wen Liang to the gate of the community. Wen Liang pushed the door open and got out of the car. He waved to Huo Dongcheng, "Thank you, Brother Dongcheng. I won't ask you to go up. Bye."
"See you another day."
Huo Dongcheng drove away only after Wen Liang entered the community.
Wen Liang turned on his cell phone and walked into the lobby of the apartment building.
Another string of call records came in.
They were all calls from Fu Zheng.
There was someone waiting for the elevator in front of it. Wen Liang looked up and saw that the up button was lit, then lowered his head to look at the number on the screen. After hesitating for a moment, he dialed Fu Zheng.
A few seconds later, the familiar ringtone of a cell phone rang from the side.
Wen Liang took two seconds to react, then looked up and was startled when he met Fu Zheng's deep gaze.
"Fu Zheng?! You...why didn't you say anything just now?"
She was so focused on her phone that she thought the person waiting for the elevator next to her was the owner of the building.
Fu Zheng held an unfinished cigarette in his hand and stared at her with a serious look. His gaze fell on her sketched cheek, and under the light, a scar of a different skin color from the one next to it was faintly visible.
He remembered that she had put on makeup when she was at the police station that morning.
And her hair, which was originally in a bun, is now loose.
She also changed the clothes she was wearing.
A trace of pain flashed in Fu Zheng's eyes, and then they became gloomy and terrifying, full of hostility, like a trapped beast struggling.
His brows were furrowed, his hanging fists were clenched so tightly that his joints cracked, and he looked at Wen Liang without saying a word.
A few seconds later, Fu Zheng walked to the middle of the two elevator doors, pressed the cigarette butt on the top of the trash can, and crushed it hard. The spark disappeared and the cigarette broke.
Following his line of sight, Wen Liang saw that the floor was covered with dense cigarette butts, and the ground where he had stood was covered with a layer of ash.
Wen Liang shuddered all over, and her back felt hairy, as if it was not a cigarette butt that was run over by Fu Zheng but her.
She unconsciously took a step back and swallowed, "...Fu Zheng, what's wrong with you?"
He was acting so strangely today. Was it because she didn't answer his calls?
Fu Zheng turned around and stared at Wen Liang. He approached step by step, trying his best to control his impulse. His voice was hoarse and he asked word by word, "Where did you go after leaving the police station today?"
The thick smell of cigarettes with an aggressive masculine aura enveloped Wen Liang, who subconsciously held her breath. "I was just driving around casually."
"What else?"
"I went to the bar and had a few drinks."
"What else?"
Wen Liang raised an eyebrow, "I don't need to report my whereabouts to you."
As soon as he finished speaking, the elevator reached the first floor.
Wen Liang raised his foot and walked inside.
