Imperial Garden.
Lin Xi lay on the bed in a daze, sorting out the current situation.
It seems like you're almost finished collecting all nine pieces, but in reality, it's a huge mess.
A slight noise came from beside her, the bed sank in a bit, and a warm body pressed against her back, carrying damp moisture.
Fu Jingyao had just finished showering when he pushed open the bathroom door and saw Xixi staring blankly into space.
He turned the person in his arms around and gazed at her quietly. "What's wrong?"
Lin Xi shook her head and reached out to hug him.
With each breath, the air was filled with purple mist.
The familiar scent instantly calmed my restless heart.
Lin Xi tilted her head slightly, meeting the man's worried gaze, and smiled, "It's nothing, I'm just tired."
Fu Jingyao gently stroked her back, his voice low, "Go to sleep. Rest at home tomorrow. Tell me if anything happens."
"Um."
Lin Xi always felt very safe and sound when he was by her side, sleeping like a log.
Tonight, I had insomnia for the first time.
Lin Xi bit her lower lip, hesitant.
Fu Jingyao noticed something was wrong, and his eyes showed a hint of anxiety. "Xixi, what's wrong?"
Lin Xi moved up a little, resting her chin on the man's shoulder, and couldn't help but smile.
"It's really nothing, don't worry."
She changed the subject, "I'll tell you a big secret, do you want to hear it?"
Fu Jingyao looked puzzled and cupped her face in his hands, "Xixi, don't lie to me or joke around."
Lin Xi coughed lightly, "I won't keep you in suspense any longer, the secret is... you married your mortal enemy's sister."
Fu Jingyao: "Hmm?"
Xi Xi was indeed joking; he only had one mortal enemy, Jiang Ting from the Jiang family.
The two are about the same age and have been competing since they were young, and of course he has always won.
To be fair, Jiang Ting is a worthy opponent.
However, Jiang Ting only has two younger brothers, but no younger sister.
Fu Jingyao pinched Lin Xi's cheek, not taking her previous words seriously. He curled his lips and said, "Feels nice."
Lin Xi pinched him back, "You're not bad either."
Fu Jingyao let her pinch him for a while, then suddenly grabbed her hands and pinned them to the headboard, turning over to regain control.
The delicate touch glided past his eyes, like a feather brushing against his heart. He couldn't help but recall that night in the hot spring, feeling restless and agitated.
He was planning to go to sleep, but Xixi kept teasing him and even told jokes to make him happy.
She must be hinting at something to him.
The man's eyes gradually darkened. "It seems Xixi isn't tired anymore; she's even in the mood to joke around."
"The night is long, why don't we do something else?"
Lin Xi was full of questions; how did the topic suddenly jump to something unsuitable for children?
She was really not joking; Jiang Ting was indeed her blood brother.
While she was still in a daze, the man ignited passion all over her body, his fingertips stroking the corner of his lips, a meaningful gesture.
Lin Xi trembled all over and quickly called out, "Fu Jingyao, wait a minute, you haven't finished speaking yet."
The man looked at her, his dark eyes unfathomable. "You called her by the wrong name again. Xixi is being naughty."
He said this as he continued downwards.
Lin Xi caught her breath and scooped up his head. "Jiang Ting is like an older brother to me... I want to go back to the Jiang family tomorrow... I'm still in a bit of pain!!"
Fu Jingyao only heard the last sentence, and his breathing became heavy, "It's been so long and you're still not better. I'll help you apply the medicine, or I'll ask the family doctor to come and take a look."
Lin Xi rolled to the edge of the bed, her ears flushed red, and a soft voice came from under the covers.
Did you hear that?
Fu Jingyao said without hesitation, "I heard you. You're still upset. I won't do anything reckless tonight. I'm sorry about earlier."
Lin Xi: "..."
I meant the previous sentence.
Fu Jingyao lowered his head and admitted his mistake, "I didn't notice. Is there anything else that's bothering me?"
Lin Xi paused for a moment, then lifted the blanket. "No, I just said I'm going to the Jiang family tomorrow."
Fu Jingyao was astonished, "The Jiang family?"
Recalling the previous joke, he understood. "Xixi, you're from the Jiang family, how did you become a Taoist priest?"
Lin Xi looked up at the ceiling. "I was abandoned when I was very young, and I only recently learned about my background. There are some things I need to resolve with the Jiang family."
She turned her head. "Do you mind this?"
Fu Jingyao breathed a sigh of relief; so that's how it is.
He leaned closer and put his arm around her waist. "Xixi, no matter what identities you have had in the past, the only person I love is you."
"What is the Jiang family? If you're unhappy, I'll help you bring them down. Trust your husband's abilities."
The tense atmosphere vanished instantly.
Lin Xi was both amused and exasperated.
Fu Jingyao was just like a brainless domineering CEO; with a twitch of his foot, the capital city trembled three times.
"It's getting cold; the Jiang family is on the verge of bankruptcy!"
The novel's allure is extraordinary.
Lin Xi clenched her fists, trying to suppress a laugh.
Fu Jingyao ruffled her hair, a nameless anger rising in his heart.
His daughter grew up in the mountains and lived a hard life, all thanks to the Jiang family!
I'll be working overtime again during this period.
Lin Xi patted his shoulder and said, "Let me tell you, I can handle the Jiang family's affairs myself. It's not your place to interfere."
The man nodded slightly and held her tightly. "Go to sleep. Don't worry about the Jiang family or the Hai family. Everything will be resolved."
He made up his mind to start working overtime until 8 p.m. starting tomorrow.
The Jiang family, just you wait!!
...
The next day, Lin Xi didn't go to the fortune-telling hall. Instead, she took out six coins and squatted by the roadside to have her fortune told.
The location of the Jiang family is a bit hard to pinpoint, as if some mysterious force is hindering them.
However, Lin Xi still managed to calculate it.
She went straight to the Jiang family villa.
Then he was stopped by a dedicated security guard.
"Young lady, this is not a place for you to come in. Please don't interfere with my work, thank you."
