The two people, the cat, and the mushroom entered the forest. Leopard Coin stopped and transformed back into its original form. "Flower Dew Village is behind this mountain. Just cross this hill and you'll get there. I'll carry you on my back."
His figure gradually grew larger, and a large cat with stripes and dark spots appeared before everyone's eyes.
Mushroom Green also transformed back into its original form and jumped onto his back. "Brother and sister, come on up. Leopard Brother is familiar with the mountains and forests here and runs incredibly fast."
Lin Xi jumped onto the big cat's back. It was soft and fluffy, and it felt nice to sit on a cat for the first time.
Yun Yan sat cross-legged. "That's enough."
Leopard Coin wagged its tail. "Let's go!"
The clouded leopard ran at lightning speed, its agile figure becoming a blur.
Halfway up the mountain.
The burly man carrying the coffin rubbed his eyes. "Everyone, be on alert! There's a leopard on the loose!"
"Where? Be alert!!" The village chief raised a hand. "Stop everything!"
The funeral procession stopped in place, squinting as it surveyed its surroundings.
They have lived in a village at the foot of the mountain for generations and haven't seen large wild animals like tigers or leopards for a long time.
The wind rustled the leaves, the grass swayed in the breeze, and the chirping of birds filled the air.
"You must be mistaken. I've walked this road for thirty years and have never encountered a wild leopard. The leopards are on the mountains over there."
"Hey, even if there really is a leopard, we're not afraid. There are so many of us, one person holds down one leg, and the leopard that takes the lead gets a free meal."
The village chief smacked him on the head, "Eat, eat, all you know is eating! I told you to study more, but you insist on ending up in jail!"
“Wild leopards are protected animals, especially the precious clouded leopard, which is commonly known as the ‘life-long prison sentence’. If it loses even a single hair, you will be sentenced to three years in prison.”
The big man chuckled sheepishly, “Village chief, I understand. We won’t eat the leopard, we’ll eat the mushrooms.”
The village chief shook his head and sighed, "With your IQ, if you go to pick mushrooms, you'll just end up lying on your deathbed after eating them. I don't want to collect your corpse."
"Everyone, stay put and wait. I'll go check."
The village chief was extremely worried. He grabbed a stick and went to the bushes to poke around.
There was no one, no wild animals.
The village chief finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, let's move on. Bury Old Li's family before dark. Things haven't been peaceful in the village lately, so try to stay out at night..."
Before he could finish speaking, he felt someone pat him on the back. The village chief was terrified. Could it be a bear?
Old Li's family went hunting in the mountains and were unfortunately dragged away by a bear. Some people witnessed that such a large black bear slapped a person to death.
The village chief dared not move. The book taught that if you encounter a bear, never run away; just play dead on the spot.
"Hey." Leopard Coin patted his shoulder again. "Why aren't you responding? Are you deaf?"
The village chief was stunned for a moment; the bear could actually speak human language.
Leopard Coin roared impatiently, "Hey! Speak!"
The village chief slowly turned around, and a head of bright yellow hair came into view. He breathed a sigh of relief; it was a person after all.
“My name isn’t Hey,” the village chief asked curiously. “Yellow Hair, who are you?”
Leopard Coin retorted, "Are you villagers from Flower Dew Village?"
“That’s right.” The village chief looked him over suspiciously. He had blond hair and tattoos on his arms; he didn’t look like a good person at all.
"What do you want to do?" The village chief took two steps back and quietly gestured to the men carrying the coffin.
A group of tall, burly men carrying a coffin came running, shouting in unison, "Village Chief, we're here!"
Leopard Gold Coin sniffed hard. "Funeral procession, there's no dead person in your coffins. Who are you burying?"
The village chief scoffed, "None of your business! We're in a hurry to bury him, and we'll never see him again!"
He turned around and encountered three more people, two men and one woman. One of the girls was very young and looked like a minor.
Lin Xi glanced at them a few times. "Hello, village chief."
The village chief was surprised. "How did you know I was the village chief?"
Lin Xi said calmly, "I can tell. We need to go to Flower Dew Village."
"No!" the village chief firmly objected. "The village is closed to tourism recently, and no outsiders are allowed in. Make way, I need to go to a funeral."
Lin Xi glanced at him and said, "You graduated from university and returned to your hometown to become the village chief. You were seriously injured in an accident, which led to your breakup with your girlfriend. You've been single ever since."
The village chief got angry and yelled, "Shut up!"
The men carrying the coffin gossiped, "Wow, village chief, you have such a past. No wonder you didn't want the pretty girls your mother introduced you to. It turns out you still have a white moonlight in your heart."
"Shut up! All of you shut up!" the village chief snapped angrily. "What exactly do you want?"
"Arrest them," Lin Xi explained simply. "That wasn't an ordinary death. If we don't catch the killer, even more people will die."
The village chief's voice trembled, "You mean there's a murderer hiding in the village? Wasn't Old Li's son taken away by the bear?"
Leopard Gold Coin sighed. The bear had done something scary and disturbing again.
Every time a body was moved, ordinary people assumed that a bear was lurking nearby.
Leopard Coin was used to it; "That bear is my colleague."
"What?!" The village chief was even more frightened. "You're with the bear?"
Leopard Coin said, "No, that colleague likes to wear a bear skin. He said he was a bear in his past life."
"A very unique hobby." The village chief's lips twitched, then he belatedly realized, "Your colleague arrested Old Li's family member?!"
“It’s not about arresting him.” Leopard Coin showed him a photo. “The person you’re talking about is already dead.”
The village chief suddenly saw a blood-soaked figure without skin and exclaimed, "Holy crap! Ahh! Get away from me!!"
He swallowed hard. "The murderer, there's a murderer in the village. No, we have to call the police for this."
The village chief shakily pulled out his phone, but Leopard Coin pressed his hand down and produced a police ID. "I am a policeman."
