Chapter 38 Xuanxuan, Grandpa is Gone

Aunt He trembled all over, "Xuanxuan, is the person you saw really Grandpa?"

Huang Wenxuan nodded, then shook his head. "I can't tell you. It's a secret between my grandfather and me."

Aunt He slapped her thigh frantically, "The old man came back as a ghost to torment Xuanxuan, why doesn't he come looking for me?"

She looked at Lin Xi, "Master, look at this..."

"fine."

Lin Xi explained, "Before a child is three years old, their soul and body are not fully integrated, and their yang energy is weak, making them more likely to see things that adults cannot see, such as ghosts."

"This is normal, you don't need to worry."

Aunt He breathed a sigh of relief.

Lin Xi beckoned, "Come here."

Huang Wenxuan obediently ran over and asked, "Sister, Grandpa said he's leaving again. When will he be back?"

Lin Xi rubbed his head. "Grandpa will be back tonight."

Huang Wenxuan was overjoyed. "Yay! I want to play hide-and-seek with Grandpa again!"

Aunt He stood to the side, her expression complicated.

Before my husband passed away, he was very fond of Xuanxuan.

During that time, he didn't play cards, chess, or go fishing; he spent all his time with Xuanxuan.

My husband does all the work himself, from changing diapers and feeding formula to making baby food and wiping bottoms.

My greatest joy every day is making Xuanxuan laugh.

Sadly, when Xuanxuan was just over a year old, her husband was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away.

Aunt He's eyes welled up with tears. "Master, my husband is a ghost now. He caused Xuanxuan to have a fever for several days. I want to ask him why he came looking for Xuanxuan?"

Lin Xi stood up. "Let's go to your place."

Aunt He was overjoyed. "Master, I've wanted to invite you to my home for a long time."

Lin Xi smiled and said, "No need to be so polite."

Aunt He is an old acquaintance, and she often shares melon seeds with her.

The three walked home.

Aunt He opened the door and said, "Master, please come in. After my husband passed away, I lived here alone with Xuanxuan."

Lin Xi glanced around.

An old-style courtyard house with flowers and plants planted in front of the door.

Her gaze fell on Huang Wenxuan. "Xuanxuan, what time does Grandpa come to play games with you every day?"

Huang Wenxuan blinked. "When I'm sleeping."

Aunt He added, "Xuanxuan goes to bed on time at nine o'clock every day."

Lin Xi said calmly, "It's still early, let's wait until it gets dark."

“Okay.” Aunt He had no objection. “Master, it’s just time for dinner. I’ll make you a bowl of noodles.”

Lin Xi touched her stomach. "Thank you."

Aunt He made a pot of Beijing-style fried sauce noodles, and Lin Xi picked up her chopsticks and tasted it.

The cucumbers were crisp, the noodles were chewy, and the sauce was especially delicious—fragrant, sweet, and salty, leaving a lingering aftertaste.

Before she knew it, she had eaten three bowls.

Lin Xi put down her chopsticks and smiled sheepishly, "I ate a bit too much."

Aunt He said with a smile, "As the old saying goes, being able to eat is a blessing. Master is a blessed person. Would you like another pot?"

"No, no." Lin Xi stretched.

Huang Wenxuan turned on the TV. "Sister, what cartoons do you like to watch?"

Lin Xi said, "Happy Sheep."

"Wow, I like Lazy Sheep too."

Huang Wenxuan skillfully pressed the remote control.

The two sat together on the sofa watching TV, and Lin Xi casually asked, "Did Grey Wolf eat any sheep?"

Huang Wenxuan thought about her question carefully, "Grey Wolf and the sheep are good friends, he won't eat his good friends."

Lin Xi nodded. "That makes sense."

Aunt He looked at the two people, one big and one small, with a big smile on her face.

The master usually acts so impressively, but she is actually still young. At this moment, she looks like a little girl full of childlike innocence.

Time passed by, and Huang Wenxuan yawned. "Grandma, sister, it's time to sleep."

Aunt He picked him up and carried him into the bedroom.

Lin Xi followed behind and turned off the light.

The room was pitch black, and Aunt He was a little nervous.

She knew the ghost was her husband, but the thought of seeing a ghost soon filled her with fear.

Huang Wenxuan suddenly shouted excitedly, "Grandpa, Grandpa's here!"

Aunt He looked around frantically, "Where is it? I can't see it."

At this moment, Lin Xi was face to face with a dark figure.

Lin Xi yawned. "You've finally arrived. Why aren't you staying in the underworld?"

"You can see me!" Grandpa Huang stared at her warily. "Who are you? What are you doing in my house?"

Before Lin Xi could speak, Huang Wenxuan jumped off the bed and ran to her, saying in a childish voice, "Grandpa, my sister is a good person."

Grandpa Huang's tone softened, "Xuanxuan, don't interrupt adults. Go to sleep."

Huang Wenxuan shook his head, "No, I want to play games with Grandpa."

Aunt He also came over and shouted into the air, "Old man, she is the master I invited. You are not allowed to be rude to her."

Lin Xi patted her on the shoulder, "You're going the wrong way, it's this way."

Aunt He was slightly embarrassed. "Old man, did you hear that?"

Grandpa Huang turned his back and said angrily, "You actually invited a master to exorcise me? We've been husband and wife for fifty years!"

Aunt He could neither hear nor see him.

"Master, what did the old man say?"

Lin Xi used his hand as a brush to draw a third eye talisman on her forehead.

"You can see ghosts within ten hours."

The scene before Aunt He's eyes changed instantly; a dark, shadowy figure stood in front of her.

She was startled. "Old man?!"

Grandpa Huang quickly responded, "Yes, it's me."

When her husband, whom she hadn't seen for a year, appeared before her, Aunt He couldn't help but cry.

Grandpa Huang also cried.

Huang Wenxuan looked left and right, "Why are Grandpa and Grandma crying?"
