The silver BMW stopped, and the three people got out.
Ji Heng glanced at the sun overhead. "It's already noon by the time we finished dealing with Lu Ziang's matter."
He licked his lips. "Fatty, what should we eat?"
Qian Fugui rolled his eyes. "Steamed cornbread with cold water."
“Zun Du, fake Du?” Ji Heng put his arm around his shoulder. “Fatty, you own a street and ten houses, don’t be so stingy. I want to eat the spicy hot pot we had last time.”
"Get out of the way." Qian Fugui slapped his hand away and walked into the fortune-telling hall.
Calling him fat while he wants spicy hot pot is ridiculous; he'd be lucky to have a steamed bun to eat.
This time, he specially ordered ten steamed buns so that Xiao Hengzi could have a full meal.
Qian Fugui took two bottles of water from the refrigerator, one for himself and one for Lin Xi. "Master, wait a little longer, the delivery rider is on his way."
"Thank you." Lin Xi took a sip of water, sat down in a chair to rest, and closed her eyes to relax.
I've basically been lounging at home for the past two weeks. The fortune tellers are everywhere, so I haven't been going home for lunch.
You need to work even harder in the future.
Qian Fugui flipped the sign at the entrance from "Temporarily Closed" to "Open for Business".
The elderly folks come as soon as they smell the aroma, as if they're rushing in with their rice bowls to enjoy the air conditioning.
"Master, the air conditioning here is so much cooler than at my house."
Qian Fugui straightened his chest and said, "I specially installed central air conditioning to ensure it stays cool."
The elderly folks ate while asking, "Fugui, tell us quickly, what kind of ghost did that young man encounter this morning?"
Without gossip to listen to, even the food doesn't taste good.
Qian Fugui cleared his throat, about to speak, when a steady, powerful footstep sounded outside the door.
The rider arrived quickly; my phone showed he'd be there in ten minutes, but he arrived almost immediately.
"Wait a minute, my food is here."
Qian Fugui rushed toward the gate, but returned less than a second later, his steps slightly hurried.
Ji Heng didn't understand, "Weren't you going to get food? What are you doing... Ouch, holy crap!!"
When he saw who was outside the door, his eyes widened slightly, and he didn't know what to do with his hands and feet. He stammered, "Brother, you...you're here."
Fu Jingyao gave a faint "hmm," carrying two large bags in his hands.
Ji Heng quickly retreated, "Boss, oh no... Sister-in-law, my brother is here."
He gets nervous when he sees this guy, like he's been caught sleeping in class by the teacher.
Lin Xi got up when she heard the noise, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, "You came to bring the food?"
"Okay." Fu Jingyao opened the bag and arranged the lunchbox.
The table was set with four dishes, a soup, and a dessert: braised pork with quail eggs, roasted abalone with black truffle, curry beef, stir-fried bok choy, tofu and yellow catfish soup, and hibiscus, lychee, and bird's nest.
Fu Jingyao lifted the lid. "Xixi, eat first."
Lin Xi didn't stand on ceremony and picked up her chopsticks to eat.
A rich aroma filled the room, and Ji Heng and Qian Fugui looked on with envy, drool dripping from the corners of their eyes.
Ji Heng swallowed hard. "Fatty, where's our food?"
Qian Fugui ignored him and rushed outside to take the steamed buns, braised chicken rice, and beef rice bowl that he had bought.
Ji Heng stared wide-eyed at the large bag of yellow cornbread. "You really bought cornbread?"
Qian Fugui left behind the steamed buns, took two portions of rice, and left, saying, "Eat it or don't, it's up to you."
Ji Heng hesitated for a moment, then grabbed a cornbread, took a bite, and drank some ice water. The more he ate, the colder his heart became.
He comforted himself.
The purpose of eating is to fill your stomach. Just like abalone, cornbread will eventually turn into poop.
Therefore, steamed buns are equivalent to abalone.
The entire room was filled with the sound of rice being cooked. The elderly men and women, holding their rice bowls, exchanged glances with each other.
The master's husband is here, we can't miss the chance to gossip, who should step up?
They sent their representative, Aunt He, to the stage.
Aunt He picked up a bottle of dark, herbal tea and tentatively stretched out her little feet, saying, "Master, drink more herbal tea in this hot weather."
Lin Xi said calmly, "Thank you."
Aunt He didn't leave; she stood in front of the table, glancing around haphazardly with a strange smile on her face.
Lin Xi looked her over suspiciously, "Are you craving my braised pork or abalone?"
Aunt He shook her head and remained silent.
Lin Xi sighed.
Shaking your head means you don't want to choose; you want both.
I just received some herbal tea from Aunt He, so I'll give her a gift in return.
She used clean chopsticks to pick up two pieces of braised pork and abalone and put them into Aunt He's bowl.
"Eat quickly, it'll get cold."
Aunt He was flattered and surprised when her rice bowl was suddenly filled. This was an unexpected delight. She thanked him profusely, saying, "Thank you, Master, thank you..."
She feigned just the right amount of confusion, "Eh~ Master, who is this handsome young man?"
Lin Xi countered, "You've lost your memory?"
Aunt He gave an irrelevant answer, "Haha, my mom is from Lingnan. She used to run a herbal tea shop. Her herbal tea was very good, you should try it..."
Lin Xi stared at her, "Speak like a human being."
The elderly folks already knew she was married and had even met Fu Jingyao once.
They usually have sharp eyes and remember everyone's gossip clearly, but they pretend to have amnesia when it matters.
Lin Xi saw through everything. "Don't cause trouble."
"No, absolutely not." Aunt He stood up obediently. "I'm old and my memory isn't good. Master, please explain it again. I'll definitely remember it next time."
Lin Xi continued eating, not wanting to waste time talking.
Fu Jingyao stared at her intently, his tone tinged with resentment, "Xixi, aren't you going to introduce me?"
Lin Xi was helpless.
"He who eats another's food is bound to him; he who takes another's gift is bound to him." And now there's braised pork in the bowl and bird's nest in the mouth.
She cleared her throat and said, "Listen carefully, everyone, he is my husband."
The elderly men and women put down their bowls and chopsticks and applauded in unison, "Welcome, Master's husband! Congratulations on your marriage!!"
A round of enthusiastic applause erupted, and the joyful atmosphere infected everyone present.
Ji Heng bit into her steamed bun and joined the formation, "Welcome, Master's husband."
The braised chicken in Qian Fugui's hand suddenly lost its appeal, and he clapped, "Welcome the master's husband!"
Lin Xi was already used to it, so she sat down and continued eating.
Fu Jingyao smiled slightly and served her some food.
*Clap clap clap!*
The applause lasted for a minute and then, starting with someone, the elderly men and women shouted in unison.
"Master, Master's husband, give me a kiss! Give me a kiss!!"
Lin Xi: "..."
This is the real purpose of the elderly people.
