Chapter 35 Should We Persist with Useless Things?

Su Ning returned to the dining table and picked up her chopsticks again. For some reason, her eyes reddened. She forced a smile, but the moisture in her eyes quickly disappeared, and she slowly resumed eating.

After closing the door, Gu Jingchen didn't leave immediately. He leaned against the wall, took out a cigarette, and started smoking.

When did he start liking cigarettes?

Did they know something had happened to her? Or did she wake up from the darkness?

He couldn't remember, but he knew that the moment she returned, his entire life suddenly burst open, and a new life emerged.

After finishing his cigarette, he took out his phone, made a call, and then left in the elevator.

After Su Ning finished dinner, she went back to her room to rest. The maid knocked on her door and handed her some things.

"Madam, I noticed your phone screen is cracked, so I went out and bought you a new one. I don't know if it will be of any use?"

Seeing the brand-new, intact screen in the maid's hand, Su Ning's eyes lit up, and she came over in her wheelchair, saying, "It works, I can install it myself."

Over the years, her phone has broken countless times, and she has fixed it little by little by figuring it out herself.

Replacing the screen is a simple matter for her.

"Thank you," Su Ning said with a smile. Her attention was on her phone screen, and she didn't notice the hint of mockery that flashed in the maid's eyes when she took the things.

As the door closed, the servant's face revealed even more disdain.

Before I came here, everyone was saying that this house was Mr. Gu's wedding house for Ms. Qiao.

If it were Miss Qiao, I wouldn't need to go through all this trouble!

They thought Mr. Gu liked Su Ning so much, but the two of them argued as soon as they met. Mr. Gu clearly saw that her phone was broken, but he didn't buy her a new one. He just told them to go downstairs to buy a phone screen.

A useless person is a useless person; no matter how beautiful they are, they will still be despised.

Gu Jingchen's emotions inadvertently affected the servants' attitude.

Su Ning was unaware of all this; she was holed up in her room fixing her phone. Less than half an hour later, she had it working, turned it back on, and the screen was clearer than before.

A WeChat message popped up one after another. Without even opening it, Su Ning knew that her silence in the group chat all afternoon had worried An An and Chu Feng.

"Qiao Yimo smashed my phone screen, but it's just been repaired."

As soon as Su Ning sent the message, Mu An'an popped up.

"Your crappy phone is a four-year-old model, why are you still repairing it? If it's broken, just get a new one."

"I'll buy it for you."

Su Ning refused Mu An'an's offer without even thinking, "No need, my phone works perfectly."

"Besides, I only make phone calls and send text messages all the time, I don't need them for anything else!"

When she explained it this way, Mu An'an sent an annoyed emoji, and Su Ning immediately replied with a "love her" emoji.

During the lowest point in her life, it was An'an and Chu Feng who stayed by her side, and Su Ning cherished the two of them very much.

"I've scheduled a hospital check-up for you tomorrow."

As Su Ning and Mu An'an were chatting, Chu Feng's avatar popped up, and he sent a message.

Chu Feng's personality is characterized by speaking his mind directly.

"examine?"

Su Ning looked down at her legs. She didn't want to go. She typed the words and then deleted them, going back and forth, unsure of how to express herself.

Over the course of about four years, she saw so many doctors and had regular checkups under Chu Feng's supervision, but what good did it do?

She felt numb and devoid of sensation, and she could feel them shrinking away, as if they were slowly taking away the hope in her heart.

Should she persist in doing something pointless?
