Seeing her hesitation, Chu Feng sent another message, firmly stating that Su Ning would not be allowed to resist.
"I'll send someone to pick you up tomorrow morning."
Su Ning remembered that she had things to do tomorrow, so she typed, "I have to report to Gu's tomorrow."
"You joined Gu's Group? As a designer? My Ningning is the best."
Mu An'an happily gave it several likes.
"Chief Designer".
After sending those five words, Chu Feng and Mu An'an didn't reply for a long time. When Mu An'an finally did reply, she was met with a bunch of question marks.
Su Ning was dissatisfied: Am I not capable enough for the position of chief?
"It's strange that Gu Jingchen, that scumbag, has regained his eyesight!" Mu An'an said bluntly. This chief position was reserved for Qiao Yimo, why would Gu Jingchen give it to Su Ning? It's really strange!
"It was decided by the interviewer; it was already decided by him."
"Gu Jingchen is so useless!" Mu An'an exclaimed, confused. "Something feels off!"
"You don't believe in my abilities."
Su Ning was angered when her best friend questioned her ability to get the position of chief designer.
Just as she was thinking that she could use her job at Gu's Corporation to dissuade Chu Feng from taking her to the hospital for a check-up, Chu Feng replied, "I'll help you ask for leave."
Su Ning was still struggling desperately when Mu An'an sent her a single word: "Good girl."
Seeing her two friends "forcing" her to go to the hospital for a checkup, Su Ning had no choice but to give up resisting. She knew that if she didn't go to the hospital tomorrow, Chu Feng's men would grab her and put her in their car as soon as she went out.
Chu Feng is not as easy to talk to as An An.
Never mind, I'll go to bed early and go to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow before going to Gu's.
The morning sunlight streamed into the bright dining room, where a man, dressed in a neatly pressed white shirt, sat at the table. A sumptuous lunch was laid out on the table, but he didn't touch it. Instead, he held a coffee cup with his long, slender fingers, slowly sipping it, occasionally raising his head to look towards the bedroom.
The sound of the door opening broke the peace and tranquility of the room.
"Okay, I'm coming down now."
A woman's gentle laughter followed. Gu Jingchen lowered his head and picked up his spoon to eat his breakfast. While eating, he looked up slightly and, out of the corner of his eye, saw a beautiful and delicate face slowly come into view as the wheelchair rolled.
Su Ning was woken up early by Chu Feng's phone call, who said that the car was parked downstairs at Yan Yugui's building and that if she didn't come out within half an hour, he would send people up to arrest her.
She hurriedly washed and dressed, then casually slipped on a skirt and went out.
She pushed her wheelchair into the living room and immediately sensed that the atmosphere outside was a bit strange. After finishing Chu Feng's urgent call, she looked up and saw the man sitting in the dining room.
Their eyes met, and he gazed at her. Warmth and affection flowed from the depths of his eyes, inexplicably stirring Su Ning's heartstrings, making her feel dazed, almost as if she were dreaming.
In a flash, the man's expression turned cold, his deep eyes darkening as he asked with displeasure, "Where to?"
Su Ning was surprised that Gu Jingchen was still home at this hour. Last night, he got inexplicably angry, slammed the door and left, and didn't return until after 2 a.m. She smiled slightly and greeted him, "Good morning, Mr. Gu."
"Come on, have some breakfast."
After Gu Jingchen finished speaking in a calm voice, he saw that Su Ning was still sitting in the same spot, and his brows furrowed slightly. "You skipped breakfast, do you want the Gu family to misunderstand that I'm abusing my wife?"
"no."
Su Ning was somewhat surprised that Gu Jingchen spoke to her in such a calm voice today, giving the impression that he was waiting for her.
"I had something to do this morning, so I've already asked the HR department for leave."
She took the morning off?
Gu Jingchen frowned deeply. How could he not know?
