Chapter 44 Don't Hug Me

When they reached the passenger seat, Gu Jingchen opened the door and bent down, but Su Ning's expression changed, and she hurriedly stopped him, saying, "No need for that, just go to the back seat."

She remembered that she was in this car in front of the Su family's house. There should be a mechanism in the car that could lower the back seat.

"No trouble at all!"

After Gu Jingchen finished speaking calmly, he reached out and lifted Su Ning off the wheelchair before she could resist.

The two had been dating for five years, and everything that was supposed to happen had happened. Gu Jingchen had carried her in his arms countless times, including in a princess carry.

When Gu Jingchen wrapped one arm around Su Ning's body and placed the other hand under her leg, he was taken aback for a moment.

Su Ning sensed his change, her face turned pale, and she put her hands in front of his chest, "Put me down!"

Gu Jingchen ignored her words. He hugged her tightly to his chest, glanced down at her panicked face, and said in a deep voice, "Just a moment."

As he spoke, he gently placed Su Ning in her seat.

The whole process took a while, and Su Ning didn't move again. She tensed her whole body and closed her eyes.

But in that short moment, she even had thoughts of dying.

Four years had passed, and she hadn't cared about others' ridicule or been bullied. But when Gu Jingchen hugged her, her eyes instantly welled up with tears, and the hundred defenses she had built up in her heart crumbled at that moment.

When Gu Jingchen gently placed her on the seat, her body was still trembling.

The car door slammed shut, and Gu Jingchen turned around to fold up the wheelchair and put it in the trunk.

Through the rearview mirror, Su Ning saw Gu Jingchen finish his work, walk to another car, turn his back to her, and take out a cigarette to smoke.

The air was thick with smoke, and it was clear he was smoking very heavily.

She stared intently at his retreating figure, tears that she had been holding back now welling up uncontrollably.

However, just as the tears fell onto her cheeks, she remembered something, turned her head, grabbed a tissue from the side, and quickly wiped away the tears on her face.

Little by little, slowly, for some reason, they kept coming out.

Su Ning could only take deep breaths, repeating this several times, before her tears finally stopped.

A short while later, Gu Jingchen, having finished his cigarette, turned around and came back. He opened the door, got in, started the car, and drove away from the hospital's underground parking lot.

Unlike last time, there were only the two of them in the carriage, and they didn't speak to each other; it was very quiet.

Su Ning kept her head down, staring at the blanket on her legs, or rather, at her legs.

Beside him, Gu Jingchen stared intently ahead, his grip on the steering wheel trembling slightly. He was tense all over, holding it tightly with all his might, as nervous as a novice driver, afraid that he might make an irreparable mistake.

"From now on, I'll drive you out..."

"I'll arrange for someone to take you."

Gu Jingchen spoke first, his voice still cold, but much slower.

Su Ning didn't know why Gu Jingchen would suddenly say that.

Was it because he felt guilty towards her?

"No."

She refused, saying, "Chu Feng and An An will arrange for someone."

For four years, the two of them took turns accompanying her, or had their people take care of her.

Gu Jingchen never appeared.

"I don't want my wife to be taken care of by other men."

Gu Jingchen spoke in a deep, resolute voice.

Su Ning was taken aback. Where did these other men come from?

Chu Feng is not!

She thought for a moment, but didn't say it aloud. Before she could find another way to refuse, Gu Jingchen settled the matter with a single sentence.

"That's it, I'm driving!"
