Chapter 51. Sign this.

In the office, only Su Ning and Gu Jingchen were present. After closing the door, they remained silent.

Gu Jingchen stood by the window, looking at the flowers and plants on the terrace outside. "Don't overthink it!"

Su Ning turned her head to look at him, and Gu Jingchen's straight back gave her an inexplicable feeling of coldness and desolation.

She paused, a self-deprecating smile appearing on her face, and replied, "Mm!"

She was past the age of dreaming, and Gu Jingchen's sudden change didn't make her think that he had fallen in love with her again.

He doesn't have the habit of picking up and reusing things he no longer wants.

Moreover, she's disabled; aside from her pretty face, how could he, now the head of the Gu family, possibly be interested in her?

He stepped in to protect her today because she is Madam Gu.

She has this self-awareness!

Su Ning's faint smile was reflected in Gu Jingchen's eyes on the windowpane. He stared blankly at her, and when he heard a "hmm," an unnamed anger surged in his chest. His face tightened, and a chill seeped from the depths of his eyes. When the chill fell on her beautiful face on the glass, it suddenly dissipated, turning into a trace of sorrow.

The office door was knocked open, and Xu Yi came in. He saw one person standing by the window and the other sitting at the desk, and felt that the atmosphere was a bit strange. "Sir, the things have been brought."

After handing the contract to Gu Jingchen, Xu Yi glanced at her husband uneasily before leaving.

"Sign this."

Gu Jingchen walked over to Su Ning and placed the contract on his desk. Su Ning looked at it with a puzzled expression and saw the black text at the top of the first page. This was her personnel contract with Gu's Group.

Wasn't the employment contract signed between her and the HR department? Why did Gu Jingchen personally contact her?

"Signed."

With a calm expression, Gu Jingchen took a pen from his desk and handed it to Su Ning.

Su Ning took the contract and opened it. It was about ten pages long. Why was the employment contract so long?

It takes at least five or six minutes to examine it closely.

"I'll take it back and have a look."

When she turned to the third page, Gu Jingchen's large hand pressed down on the contract, preventing Su Ning from turning any further. He curled the corner of his mouth and replied disdainfully, "Su Ning, there are plenty of people who want this position."

The contract was back in his hands. Gu Jingchen flipped directly to the last page, pointed to the signature area, and said, "I don't have time to waste on you here!"

Su Ning held the pen, staring at the blank signature area. For some reason, she felt compelled to read the entire contract.

"Su Ning!"

Gu Jingchen rang out impatiently, "Everyone's contract is the same: either sign it or get out."

Looking at the bright red Gu family seal below, Su Ning gripped the pen tightly and carefully signed her name.

Sign it. She's disabled and has nothing that Gu Jingchen can scheme against!

Now, even her life is probably worthless.

After the contract was signed, Gu Jingchen snatched it from her hands without showing it to Su Ning.

Su Ning watched Gu Jingchen hurriedly turn and leave, feeling inexplicably uneasy. This morning had been a mess – first Lu Shaohan, then Qiao Yimo, and now Gu Jingchen protecting her and making her sign the contract. She was mentally exhausted.

Hearing the door close, she remembered something: shouldn't she have received a copy of the personnel contract? Why did Gu Jingchen take them all?

"gentlemen!"

Seeing Gu Jingchen come out so quickly, Xu Yi asked in confusion, "Sir, have you finished?"

Did the lady sign the document?

"Um!"

Gu Jingchen responded softly. He glanced down at the signature on the last page of the contract, pursed his lips, and smiled faintly.
