They overheard some things about Xu Huanyan and Su Ning when they arrived, but since they weren't there, they couldn't say much. Of course, Xu Huanyan ignored them when they left, and they didn't say goodbye to her either.
Xu Sheng chatted with the old man for a while before leaving. Xu Huanyan was hungry, but she was still angry and refused to eat dinner.
Mrs. Xu held Xu Huanyan's hand tenderly as they went out together. After Mr. Xu got into the car, Xu Bai opened the door for Mrs. Xu. Before the door was closed, Mrs. Xu said to him, "Xu Bai, you should take another car back."
Xu Bai came in the same car as Madam Xu and Xu Huanyan. Now that Mr. Xu is also going back, he originally planned to take a different car.
He felt a little uncomfortable that Madam Xu had said something unnecessary.
He helped Su Ning at the Xu residence, which made Madam Xu resent him. Then he thought of Madam Xu's words, "ungrateful wretch," and recalled the scene of him alone in the old house when he was a child.
Although the old man and woman doted on him, they only saw Mr. Xu twice a month and Mrs. Xu even less often.
That feeling of being abandoned has always been there, but it's particularly intense now.
Fortunately, he wasn't one to dwell on things, and he forgot about it as soon as he got into the car.
Inside the car, Mr. Xu and Mrs. Xu sat side by side, while Xu Huanyan sat in the passenger seat.
Xu Huanyan, feeling wronged, had red eyes and remained silent.
"Huanyan suffered a lot of grievances today, let's take her out for a nice meal tomorrow."
Madam Xu brought it up on purpose.
Mr. Xu asked calmly, "What injustice did she suffer?"
The tone was sarcastic; it wasn't asking Madam Xu what had just happened to Xu Huanyan, but rather implying that Xu Huanyan hadn't been wronged.
What do you mean by that?
Madam Xu spoke up, questioning, "Su Ning is your daughter, and so is Huan Yan."
This matter was kept secret from Xu Bai.
The reason for not telling Xu Bai was that he might one day discover that he and Su Ning were actually siblings, which would be detrimental to Madam Xu and Xu Huanyan.
With Xu Bai absent, Madam Xu brought up the matter without any restraint.
"Huan Yan didn't push her at all."
Mrs. Xu spoke again angrily, and Xu Huanyan in the front seat turned to look at Mr. Xu, "Dad, I really didn't."
She is so sad today because she is not trusted by everyone.
They stopped caring about themselves after they got Su Ning, including Mr. Xu.
"She's trying to compete with Huanyan for the emperor's favor," Madam Xu said sneer. "She deliberately fell down so that the old master would punish Huanyan."
“I didn’t say I didn’t believe Huanyan.” Mr. Xu’s words stopped Xu Huanyan from sobbing, and Mrs. Xu smiled as well.
"It's not that you have to make decisions for Huanyan, it's just that Su Ning has been taught to be too scheming."
Madam Xu wouldn't have said these things before, nor would she have dared to. Now, she's indirectly suggesting that Su Ning's scheming was instigated by Su Xincheng.
"Jiang Yun".
As Mrs. Xu spoke with pride, Mr. Xu's voice turned cold. She turned her head and met a pair of icy, bottomless eyes.
"You know better than anyone how Su Ning fell today!"
What do you mean by that?
Feeling guilty, Madam Xu continued to question him.
"Could it be that Huan Yan is really inferior to Su Ning, who grew up outside?"
He's raised Huanyan for so many years, he's developed a real attachment to her!
"I didn't say it was Huanyan!"
Mr. Xu lowered his voice, and his gloomy eyes made Mrs. Xu feel uneasy.
She knows best what she did.
