Chapter 571 Meeting Her

When he first arrived at the Xu family, he was still a child.

The adults in the family ignored him, but the maid gave him medicine and went to do other things. When she finished her work and went to check on him in his room, she found that his little face was flushed with fever and he looked like he was on the verge of death. Something was very wrong.

The maid panicked and took him to the hospital.

The doctor took his temperature, which was as high as 45 degrees Celsius.

In that situation, if he had been brought in any later, he would either have died or been driven mad by the fever.

When Old Master Xu found out about this, he scolded Xu Sheng and Madam Xu severely. From then on, Xu Sheng took him with him wherever he went, and his health gradually improved. He never had such a serious illness again.

Seeing that he was lost in thought and ignoring her, Xu Huanyan turned and went home. Xu Sheng stood on the shore, looking at his reflection in the water. Something from so long ago suddenly came to mind, stirring up a lot of emotions in him. He looked up into the distance, remembering that it was a gift from Su Ning, and without thinking much, he jumped in.

Winter was over, and the daytime sunshine was gentle and comfortable. The Xu family's swimming pool was heated, but the wind was still cold at night. Xu Bai regretted jumping in; he should have come back during the day.

Having already jumped, he continued searching in the pool.

The pool was huge, and the ring seemed to be deliberately working against him; he searched for it for over an hour.

After the ring was found, he shivered from the cold wind as he got ashore and sneezed.

The next day, Xu Bai caught a cold as expected.

As an adult, he didn't need to look for Mr. and Mrs. Xu, but he searched the room for a long time without finding any cold medicine.

I can only wait until I go to work and buy it downstairs at Xu's.

Mr. and Mrs. Xu sat at the dining table in the restaurant, each eating their own meal, in such quiet that the only sound was the soft clinking of chopsticks and bowls.

Xu Bai went over to greet him. He was feeling dizzy and weak from being sick, and he had no appetite.

Mr. Xu looked up and saw that Xu Bai looked listless, and said, "You don't need to attend today's meeting."

"Why?" Xu Bai asked in surprise, his throat burning, his voice hoarse and low.

After Mr. Xu finished speaking, he stood up, patted Xu Bai on the shoulder, and said, "Go to the hospital to get checked out."

He spent so much time in the pool and in the wind last night, he must be quite ill now.

Xu Bai is an easily satisfied person, and since it is Mr. Xu who cares about him, he nodded and said he would go back to the Xu family after finishing his hospital visit.

Xu Bai saw Mr. Xu off at the door, during which Mr. Xu did not say a word to Mrs. Xu.

Mrs. Xu watched as Xu Bai, standing by the car, spoke to Mr. Xu with a smile on his face. She was a little worried that Xu Bai would complain, but then she thought that she hadn't done anything wrong.

She raised Xu Bai for many years, which makes her more qualified than Su Xincheng.

It was wrong of Xu Bai to treat Su Ning better than Huan Yan.

She ignored Xu Bai's health and left the Xu family home with Xu Huanyan, who had just come downstairs.

Xu Bai finished the urgent matters at home and arranged everything before heading to the hospital.

As he drove away from the Xu family's gate, he looked up and saw a woman lurking suspiciously across from the gate.

With half of his face revealed, Xu Bai slammed on the brakes and pulled the car over to the side of the road.

Xu Bai reversed his car back. The woman hiding in the shadows saw him suddenly turn around and come towards her. She wanted to run away, but she couldn't bear to give up the opportunity, so she stopped running.

"Aunt Su."

Looking at this face that resembled Su Ning's, Xu Bai felt a sense of liking and familiarity. This liking and familiarity was even deeper than his feelings for Su Ning.
