After leaving the hospital, Su Ning noticed that Gu Jingchen was acting strangely. When they got home, he said he had work to take care of and went straight upstairs to his study.
When Gu Jingchen came downstairs again after dinner, he was still out of sorts.
Dinner was cooked by the family's maid. Su Xincheng was called out to eat by Xu Bai, but Su Ning felt that Gu Jingchen was absent-minded, so she declined.
"What's wrong?"
As usual, after dinner, Gu Jingchen took Su Ning out for a walk.
They were in an upscale residential area, which was quiet and not too noisy.
After thinking for a moment, Su Ning asked Gu Jingchen.
"nothing."
Gu Jingchen replied in a calm voice, explaining that as soon as he returned, he made an excuse to come up and look at the information that Madam Jiang had given him.
Four years ago, the car accident was investigated repeatedly, and there were suspicious points, but no one knew where they were. After seeing that document, Gu Jingchen realized that the suspicious point was the driver who caused the accident.
"Jing Chen".
Su Ning said softly, "You can't hide it from me."
She turned to look at Gu Jingchen, disliking that he was keeping things from her.
"Um."
Gu Jingchen softened his tone, "Alright."
"It was Yan Ziyan who called me." Gu Jingchen brought up Yan Ziyan's marriage to dispel Su Ning's doubts.
He still needs to investigate the car accident four years ago and will tell Ningning later.
He wanted Ningning to be protected by him, and he wanted her to not have to worry about those terrible things.
"Um?"
Su Ning asked in confusion, "Does he want to marry Xu Huanyan?"
Su Ning guessed it right away; it wasn't actually that hard to guess.
"Last time at the old house, I saw that Madam Yan treated her well, and she was considering her as a future granddaughter-in-law."
"Young Master Yan must like her very much too. Marriage is only a matter of time."
Su Ning wasn't surprised that Xu Huanyan had won over Yan Ziyan so quickly.
With Jiang Yun in jail and the Jiang family in trouble, Yan Ziyan and the Yan family are Xu Huanyan's lifeline.
It's uncertain whether she fell in love with Yan Ziyan, but it's certain that she married him with ulterior motives.
If she really wants to use the Yan family to cause trouble for her, then Xu Huanyan doesn't deserve to be with Yan Ziyan.
"He invited you?" Su Ning asked again.
Is Gu Jingchen troubled by this matter?
“If you want to go, then go,” Su Ning replied. “Young Master Yan and you have been friends for many years.”
He had such a close relationship with Lu Cheng that he also had a very good relationship with Yan Ziyan.
Gu Jingchen couldn't very well not attend his best friend's wedding.
"I'm not going!"
Gu Jingchen refused.
"The marriage may not even happen, so there's no point in going."
There was a chill in his voice, and Su Ning found it even stranger. How could he be so sure that Yan Ziyan and Xu Huanyan couldn't possibly get married?
"It was Jiang Yun who did this to me."
"I still believe Xu Huanyan is innocent."
"Jingchen, you can go."
Su Ning comforted Gu Jingchen, thinking that it was because of her plans to deal with Xu Huanyan.
Gu Jingchen didn't answer. He held Su Ning's hand and said, "If she doesn't know anything, as long as she doesn't provoke us, we'll keep to ourselves from now on."
If the car accident four years ago was related to Xu Huanyan, he wouldn't let it go so easily.
"Um."
Su Ning smiled and did not object.
Gu Jingchen helped Su Ning continue walking forward. The two strolled in the quiet garden for a while before returning home.
In the bridal shop, Xu Huanyan looked at herself in the mirror and felt dazed.
She never imagined that she would leave the Xu family, that Jiang Yun would get into trouble, and that she would choose to marry Yan Ziyan when she had nowhere else to turn.
