After they left, the bedroom was so quiet that the only sound was the ticking of the alarm clock on the wall.
Su Ning stared blankly at her phone for a while before opening it. The message she had exchanged with Gu Jingchen was still the same "Goodnight" message from two days prior.
He was far away in country A, receiving no phone calls or messages.
Su Ning smiled self-deprecatingly, her lips pursed. She didn't know what she was expecting, nor did she know when this extreme love would end.
She put her phone on the bedside table, unable to sleep, and lay there until two or three in the morning before finally drifting off to sleep.
In her dream, she saw the boy, who pulled her into his arms and said earnestly, "No one can bully my Ningning!"
The words "No one can" acted like a curse, pushing Su Ning to the edge of the abyss and back to Nancheng.
"Ning Ning!"
It was that familiar voice calling her again. Su Ning forced her eyes open from her dream, and through the hazy light, she saw Gu Jingchen, the man she knew to the core.
He was gazing at her with deep affection, his fair fingers gently touching her cheek, caressing her face little by little.
Seeing the tenderness and weariness in his eyes, Su Ning felt a pang of pain. She desperately wanted to wake up, but as she listened to his repeated calls of "Ning Ning, my Ning Ning," her eyelids grew heavier and heavier until finally, when he lowered his head and kissed her lips, sleepiness completely overwhelmed her, and she fell into a deep sleep.
This dream kept Su Ning asleep until after ten o'clock. If it weren't for the noise outside, she might have slept on.
She sat up and glanced at her phone on the bedside table. There were several text messages from Chu Feng, Mu An'an, and Su Xincheng, but none from Gu Jingchen.
She threw off the covers, climbed into her wheelchair, went to the bathroom to wash up quickly, and then went out, where she bumped into Su Xincheng who was coming over.
When Su Xincheng saw her, she was both angry and annoyed. "What time is it? Why are you only getting up now?"
She didn't sleep all night, and as soon as she got up in the morning, she called Su Ning, wanting Su Ning to go to the police station with her to bring Qiao Yimo out.
To her surprise, she made more than a dozen calls, but Su Ning didn't answer any of them.
He had no choice but to go and pick up Qiao Yimo himself, and then come here to settle accounts with Su Ning.
